There's only so many goals you can conceded the same way without questions being asked.
Granted I was at the wrong end to give an opinion on the goal but Spurs mate watching on tv said Romero and/or Vicario were at fault. If thats the case then thats 4 goals conceeded this season, ALL Romero's fault.
That aside, Spurs has plenty of possession but done nothing. Neither Winger (read Johnson, Son, Werner, Odobert) created a single chance.
Maddison, not his best game granted but why take him off with 10 mins to go? Surely he's the one to unlock a pass? No, lets put another winger on, move Son in the middle then have noone in midfield capable of getting the ball to feed the wingers.
Arsenal defended deep, done everything simple, got the job done. Arteta had them set up perfectly. Saliba and Gabriel excellent, Partey and Jorghino mopped up brilliantly and their front players worked their bollocks off. The perfect away performance.
Got what we deserved, absolutely nothing. That performance stunk the place out given who they were missing.

But what do spurs do? - chase the best managers available - Conte, Mourinho, etc, etc and come up short, go for the best manager in a pub league and come up short…it’s been going on for years. Bottom line is top 6 is about right for them. From an outside perspective, the problems are higher up the chain. There best players aren’t up there with Man City’s best players. Arsenal were without 6 or 7 their better players today. Yet most of the replacement players would get in Tottenham’s team.

Could blame anyone really. Romero for losing his man, Vicario for not coming for it (although he was blocked off), or some of the other defenders for standing their watching their man rather than the ball.

Remember when Izzy Christiansen said on Sky after Spurs gave away a two goal lead against City to lose 4-2 that Romero lacked the discipline and always had a mistake in him? Some Spurs fans thought at the time that she was talking rubbish.
Spurs won't have a better chance to turn over an Arsenal team missing Rice and Odegaard in the middle of the park. In fact, with the possible exception of Sterling and Jesus (and they have 5 minutes of football between them this season), Arsenal's bench doesn't look to me that of a title chasing side - it includes five players 18 or younger:

Its not the thread for it I know but if anyone watched that abomination of a performance from Spurs against Coventry's B team in the league cup last night then Ange's is bang in trouble now.
Absolute madness making 8 changes from the side that played Arsenal. I realise squad players need a game at times but he changed the total structure of the team and there was no flow, no structure, just god damn awfulness. Coventry made 7 changes from the team that drew with Watford at the weekend and they literally played us off the park a times. How Spurs won that game last night is beyond me.

I realise subbing him off might have been down to managing minutes because of his recent injury, but it seemed weird to play Solanke for 60 minutes with absolutely no service and then when you bring on the players (Son/Maddison/Kulusevski) who are most likely to be able to give him service........you take Solanke off.

Sadly, Sonny is in decline. Age is definitely catching up with him. He is more inconsistent than I can remember him being. He'll go 5-6 games without a goal and look like he can't trap a bag of cement (his first touch for the last 18 months has been woeful btw!) and then he'll go and score a brace against Everton, everyone thinks he's back then he'll go missing for 2-3 games again. He was anonymous against Newcastle and Arsenal. He didn't make a difference when he came on last night in all honesty.
He's got a year left on his contract with Spurs having an option to extend it. On current form, its hard to justify extending and he certainly wouldn't get anywhere City or Arsenal's starting XI.
I sometimes think managers are thick. Especially Spurs managers. What do Spurs need, DESPERATELY need? Trophies. And what's their best chance of this? The EFL Cup, a competition which City (and Arsenal) understandably take less seriously. Play a strong team and really take it seriously.
Ten Hag might be an average manager of an average side, but he's delivered 2 trophies and 3 Wembley finals in 2 seasons, which is why he's still in a job.
