  • Kick off at 5.30 so that people at home can watch while they have tea or dinner.

Will stadiums be redesigned so the seats have drop down trays like on planes?

    What is this bollox?

Its nothing new, the Premier League have had 5.30pm kick offs on Saturdays for years.

And in the Championship if Prem games are on BT/TNT/WhateverTheyAreThisSeason.
  • A lot of clubs have a scheme where if a ST holder isn’t able to make a game, they can make their seats available for purchase.

Could easily set up a thread for that on here. I’d happily buy 12:30 KO tickets from other lifers when they can’t use them.
  • Who in the world wants to watch Charlton vs Orient at 12.30 on the 2nd weekend of the season. It's not quite as bad as Sky showing the reverse fixture on NYE at a stupid time during Powells promotion season

  • Reality is the majority of people watching us Vs Orient will be people with an interest to the clubs involved. There's multiple games on at that time so unlikely most people will choose to watch us.

    Other games on at 12:30:

    Ipswich Vs Liverpool
    Derby Vs Middlesbrough
    Portsmouth Vs Luton
    West Brom Vs Leeds
    Shrewsbury Vs Peterborough
    Bromley Vs Wimbledon
    Carlisle Vs Barrow
  • Probably not many people in ’the wider public’ will actually watch it but it will be on in pubs, and in people's homes while they make lunch or get home in the evening and have a cup of tea. People will take notice when a big incident happens but not really be watching. After all, Sky subscribers have bigger and better matches on the same day to sit and watch properly.

If it were on for us terrestrial TV peasants starved of live league football then it may be different.

Looking at the list of games at the same time we're playing Orient how many pubs will be showing our game over those?
  • Should just do away with the 3 O'clock block out. If you want to watch your club these days at 3pm most people can.
  • Looks like the TV fixtures are out for September, we don't feature.

  • So there are bigger games on at the same time as us? What’s the point then? I don’t get it. It’s not like having a blockbuster v another film at the cinema. Some, including myself, might be put off by the big budget film. How does that work with football?

I know I'm in the minority here but it's good for people like me who don't live near the club so can't get to many games. I do understand that it inconveniences fans. No idea if it's a net positive or negative in general but it is handy for me.
  • If the league games are live on Sky, are they still being streamed overseas?

Yes but we’re talking about the general public. An audience of the supporters of the two teams involved surely wouldn't make it cost effective.
    Hence my question above.

Think it probably does across the full 3 divisions. Costs themselves will be relatively low and they can sell sponsorship off the back of it.

Which was catered for perfectly by the club streaming services, which would provide a bespoke service for their own fans, with their own commentators.

TBF, they’ll be lucky to Kick Off at 12.30 that day if Orient are coming by coach and don’t plan an alternative route that doesn’t include the Dartford tunnel

Except there was no legal way to watch games that weren’t midweek

Except watching streamed games on Charlton TV at 3pm Saturday was not illegal.

It was if you live in the UK.
  • Just seen the advert on SSN for the live EFL games, the ground seems familiar except it is full of various supporters 😂
  • Anyone know when the October selections are made? With nothing for September, do wonder if the Birmingham game at home on the 5th may get moved.

Prior to the start of the 2024/25 season, all TV selections will be confirmed for the period up to the FA Cup third round in early January. This is a landmark commitment, providing fans and clubs up to five months’ notice, an increase from the five weeks' notice given across the majority of the 2023/24 season.
