Season ticket renewal 2024/25

  • If I still lived in Dartford etc, apart from thorough disillusionment with L1 football, the proposed 1230 kick off times for a substantial
number of games would have finished me off as a season Ticket holder. My routine was very much 0800 golf, then off to the Valley.  If I was able and had to make a choice now between one or the other then the golf would win. Would become an attendee when time permitted.

And you probably got more birdies than we scored goals.

A lot depends on how the recruitment shapes up over the summer, but my optimistic hunch is that we may be up to 8,500 by the start of the season.
If I was buying this year I'd have to wait for the fixtures to be released to see how the new TV deal impacts KO times amd dates, I imagine there will be quite a few that don't live near The Valley with the same issue.
Yeah I think with the. Announcing all the live games up to Christmas before the season starts, quite a few people will do that
Yes, I has similar thoughts cross my mind before I took the season ticket plunge. I guess I just wanted to acknowledge these owners look like they're going to give it a go and to show them in my small way that I'm in! I appreciate the owners and I have some reasons unique to each of us for 'investing' in next season but I'm sure we do have reasons in common too.
I hope the club can find a way to use at least some of the Sky revenue to fashion a CTV offering for the season so those of us who can't/don't get to the Valley regularly can continue to 'invest' in our usual way.
Walk many miles to the Valley and you get to see your favourite team. Walk many miles playing golf and it’s a waste of a good walk
  • Renewed ours today, hoping they don’t muck about with the kick off times too much, my lad has training on a Saturday and a game on a Sunday, I suspect a lot of others will be in the same boat.

You waited for the prices to go up, to renew 3 days later.
    Proper supporter.
Puts the rest of us cheapskates that renewed before the deadline to shame…may have to turn up even earlier before each game next season and buy an extra pint in penance
  • All booked up, bought myself 6 seats. Not that I've got friends or anything, just on the chance that the football might be a bit shit again, be nice to have a few seats to have a lie down across.
I hope you bought 6 together and not randomly spread around the ground?
  • Got my tickets early on blind loyalty basis- but I've only just joined the dots ....  each L1 team will be featured 20 times , so roughly 10 at home. That's double paying as I have Now TV, this plus parking issues will hit enthusiasm for home game attendance. Cold wet winter evening games......going to be tough especially if work is an early start. Damn.

  • don’t worry about the 20 games thing, those 20 include midweek games, Christmas games, bank holidays and international weekends, not many Saturdays will move
  • When will live EFL matches be broadcast?
    • EFL matches will be broadcast on regular midweek slots, and regular weekend slots outside blocked hours across the weekend
    • Regular weekend slots will include:
      • Approximately five matches on a Saturday lunchtime (12.30pm kick-off)
      • Frequent slots on a Friday night and Sunday afternoon (12.30pm kick-off)
      • Additional selected picks on a Thursday and Monday night
    • 10 regular weekend games across the three divisions will be broadcast
      • Five Sky Bet Championship matches
      • Five matches across Sky Bet League One and Sky Bet League Two
    • All other broadcast games include:
      • All opening and final day fixtures in the Sky Bet EFL
      • All midweek league fixtures
      • All bank holiday fixtures including Easter, Boxing Day and New Year’s Day
      • All fixtures played in League One & Two during international breaks
      • All matches played in Sky Bet League One and League Two during International breaks
      • All Play-Off, Carabao Cup and Bristol Street Motors Trophy fixtures (as above)
  • Realistically your looking at 5/6 games
Out of 46 moving to 12:30

Exactly the conclusion I came to @Rothko

In a normal 46 game season there are six midweek matches scheduled. That’s 6/20.

In a normal 46 game season there are four international weekends. Those matches will either be eligible for TV with a 3pm kick off, or moved to midweek. That’s 10/20.

In a normal 46 game season there are two games on bank holidays over the holiday period (usually Boxing Day and New Years Day). That’s 12/20.

In a normal 46 game season there are two games scheduled over the Easter bank holiday weekend. That’s 14/20.

Leaves six games (home and away) that will be moved to 12:30 kick offs. So realistically you’re looking at around 2-6 lunch time kick offs at the Valley across the whole season, depending on luck of the draw and how well the team is performing.

Reminds me of a year at school where we played football and cricket against Erith Grammar. Beat them 13-0 at football and scored 12 runs in our cricket innings.

And how many Saturday games being moved to Friday or Monday nights.
  • Unless we suddenly become Sky’s new babe and we are playing someone else top of the table, i.e. Wrexham, then those slots will inevitably be Championship games.
  • just had this email exchange with charlton about my season ticket. They took my money a few weeks ago.

    Dear SIrs
I have supported charlton since September 1967.
My first game was v Aston Villa .I attended games regularly and in our promotion year 1975 I went to all matches home and away.I was at our return to the valley match in December 1992 and
held a season ticket during the years 1998 to 2007 .Since then I have attended about 10 games a season. For the first time since 2012 I  feel optimistic and therefore decided to buy a season ticket.
If you refuse to send it without proof of age then
so be it .Just refund my money and I will attend
    occasionally as before.
I really can't be arsed with sending you my passport and/or birth certificate.
    Yours Faithfully

  • Just a personal view, it seems an unecessary hill to die on. Many people abuse the system sadly. You’re buying a concession ticket for the first time, you just have to take a pic on your phone and attach to the reply. Takes literally seconds.

Will be worth it when we win the league :-)
I agree. I had the same email for my daughter's concession ticket. She's actually moved category to U18s from U11s (that's my gripe, it's too young to bump the price up but hey ho) and I thought "the club must already have a previous proof of age for her" but I took a quick snap of her passport and sent it to the club. No drama and as you say, AFKA, many abuse the system so on balance I am glad they check.

@timken I do hope you decide to continue with your season ticket. Don't let this spoil what I hope will be an enjoyable season for us all.

  • I buy concession tickets every match with my credit card and have done for last two years[since reaching 65].never been asked for proof of age.
With a season ticket the only advantage for me is not having to queue up as I doubt I will go to more than 10 games even if we win the league.I am pretty certain there wont be 27111 there every week so will always be able to get a ticket.
It was a marginal decision anyway to buy a season ticket and no mention on website when I bought that it was required .I would have done it there and then if they had asked for it.
Have to say I am still not "in love with" much except perhaps nathan jones .
Not sure what my legal position is if they refuse to reimbuse me and refuse to send my ticket.
    afkabartram just looked up
"What does the phrase hill to die on mean?2
hill to die on (plural hills to die on) (idiomatic) An issue to pursue with wholehearted conviction and/or single-minded focus, with little or no regard to the cost.
not really applicable here as no single minded focus required here and not much cost involved either way.

  • Personally, I think I’d be more pissed off if I rocked up at the ticket office on a match day and was sold an over-65 concession ticket no questions asked and going by your posts I think I’m older than you. It’s one thing to have the hump if you have to prove you’re old but it’s a lot worse if they just look at you and assume you’re old

supporting charlton for 55 years has taken its toll  !!!!!

Are you able to photo the ID & attach it to an email?
If you know how it will take a few minutes maximum.
If not tell us what phone you use & someone can explain if you don’t want to google how.

If Charlton issue you a discounted S/T this year they will have to for perhaps 15 years.
15 years savings will be a lot of money & they would be negligent not to check.
