He winked at me, got in his car, and sped off towards slow moving traffic.

Hope it is just Small keeping his options open for a little while. Will be disappointed if it turned out we offered a low contract, as he is a player we should be looking to tie down longer, if possible. Of course it could be we offered a decent contract and Small wants an unrealistic amount. Hopefully gets sorted soon.DubaiCAFC said:

Small has said a number of times how happy he is at Charlton and I think he’s a really popular member of the group too. We took to him very quickly, helped by his impressive performances at the beginning.
Personally, I think he’ll sign a long term contract but we might need to trigger the extra year in the meantime.
Lots of work will be going on right now with lots of players, Small though is back in Birmingham back home. I don’t think this one will take too long to sort out.33 -

I still think Small is waiting to see our other transfer business before committing long term, and I don't blame him. Words are easy, in his shoes I'd want to see actual evidence first that we're going for it next season.

Let’s hope Small is being offered competitive money & other potential quality players decent money as well. Some of the rumblings on this thread appear to be preparing the way for excuses for decent players such as Small, not being secured because of the offers made.Ipswich have shown promotion is possible. It does require expertise in identifying players of skill, heart & good character. Also, securing players already at the club such as Small, one of the successes of the 2nd part of the season. Promotion also needs a sufficient budget.Is there one in the SMT plan ?9
