The recipe for success according to Nathan appears to be: GK: Veteran keeper who commands his defence WBs: Pacy, rangy, the main outlets for the side, expected to get a lot of crosses in CBs: at least one horrible bastard, one that has the pace to sweep behind and cover, and one that can ping long balls and push forwards into midfield when attacking. CMs: proper box to box midfielders, not afraid of a tackle but contribute to the attacking flow of the game AM: tricky, dead ball specialist, able to find pockets of space and turn and play in the strikers STs: one big lump, a physical specimen, with a crafty striker off him with pace and terrier like harrying
Let's see if it works out, but I believe Berry is a big piece of the jigsaw
This does look to be the formula , would think Berry slides in nicely to one of the CM slots and the AM is still to come.

Another name that has been mentioned albeit very briefly is in our sights too. A good age, he caught the eye last season and is surplus to requirements I would think. We will see if we can have him

If this is the formula, and I'm not saying it's not, then talk of NJ not "fancying" Alfie is surely utter nonsense when he's provably the best "crafty striker off him with pace and terrier like harrying" in the league

Hasn’t Berry also played as an AM?
Yeah at Cambridge I think he played as more of an AM.

If he wants a crafty striker with pace and terrier like harrying, then how does Alfie not fit the bill? What is it about Alfies game Jones doesn't like?

Penny Lover - we are signing Matt Penney again, must mean Small is off.

Size of those hands...
Wouldn't have thought @Carter would have wanted help from that source with his historic 'lost fingernail' issue. He would definitely have been dancing on the ceiling.
I would be surprised if we see Alfie in a charlton shirt again unfortunately.. Seems to be Huddersfield number 1 target..
Have you heard why that is, as I don't see what is has to do with him being Huddersfield no.1 target.
Is it Alfie wanting to leave, Jones pushing him out, or owners wanting to make a quick profit after a year?
Going to say a mixture of things, wouldn’t say it’s the owners.. Won’t be the first name on Jones team sheet, Huddersfield willing to offer a good payrise..
Every keeps going on about losing May, CBT and Dobson.. maybe not these guys fault, but let’s not forget, they have all been in bottom to mid table league 1 side, and all unproven if they can do it any higher, if we are bringing in an higher calibre of player, we’ll i am good with them going.. I think next 10 days, things going to ramp up..
I would say, this week we might see, Berry, Edwards, Mitchell, Davies plus one other..
I'm currently sunning myself in Dartford-upon-Kent
At my desk
And no, I haven't seen Aflie and I'm not going to breach his privacy by concocting a reason to go and knock on his door. I actually found this house for him and one of the selling points of it is the privacy and lack of obtrusive neighbours. What will be will be
If you see Haaland being shown around Alfie's house by an estate agent, let us know.
I would assume Mitchell is likely done but an announcement later in the week, given Millwall aren't active on their socials due to their loss on the weekend we've likely agreed to put back the official announcement

Our new signing will be once, twice, three times injured next season.
I know it's become part of this pages charm, but if people could try and ignore the attention seeking posts from golfaddick then there would be a lot less crap to scroll though every time we open the forum up.
I'm going to stick my neck out and say that there's no way the seemingly rational new ownership, and our new manager who openly talks about getting promoted will sell Alfie.
Also why genuinely would Alfie want to go to another league one side? Because he knows the manager? I doubt they'll be offering him shed loads more than we are paying, and it would mean uprooting his family again
It wouldn’t surprise me, heard rumours as soon as Jones came in that he wasn’t a fan of May and I think that was confirmed by the amount of times he was subbed and the signing of Wickham. Just have to trust the process at this point but I’d like to start seeing these signings come in.
I’m not a professional football manager looking to rebuild a career that stalled at Southampton and stoke but if this is true it is a worry. Alfie scored more goals in 1 season than Wickham managed in 9 years. I wish jones all the best but “not liking” a guy whose goals kept us up despite being played wide right, attacking midfield and up front and always gave 100% was the sweetcorn in a pile of shite last year.

Out of interest, do you have an examples of a higher calibre player than Alfie May? I can’t really think of any that we could realistic sign.
Theo Bair certainly isn’t higher calibre and is unproven outside of one decent season in Scotland, and it even looks like he’s way out of our reach. Same goes for Etete, although that looks more possible to get a deal done.
It just seems bonkers to sell your best player to a league rival.
