Realistically who could we get at the Valley that would be "exciting" to fans and wouldn't demand an appearance fee?
I mean off the top Den Bosch were good fun a number of years ago, could have been nice to play for a small trophy with a foreign side like we did then? Might as well take a risk if attendance is a worry cause hardly likely to get loads swarming out for this

Probably a decent turnout from Pompey for this, presumably their last pre-season game before the season starts.

It's a fair point, but if you're not bothered about the crowd you may as well play a team of a similar calibre to ones you'll face during the season, hence Portsmouth. I dont think a friendly against a random European team at home would achieve that.
Does anybody know what matches might be covered on Charlton TV?
That's a good question, Seth.
I've been wondering the same as I'm still paying £7pm for exacrly what ?
The info on the Charlton TV link does not appear to have been amended since last season so I would have expected the Dartford match on Saturday to be covered.....but no mention.
Looking at the Passes on sale, it states that one is available for the Friendly v Goztepe on Saturday 13th July at £6 ! Do we know about this match & where is it being played as The Valley pitch will not be available !
Regarding the above post, I have now sent an email to Tom Rubashow requesting an urgent update with reference to the PSF at Dartford and the Goztepe match 7 days later....
I'll post up his response once received but sadly, another example of lack of communication from the club to its paying "customers".
Think there may only be one, maximum two, midweek games. So probably a total of 6 first team friendlies.
The fact that there is no midweek league games through the first two months of the season means that this probably isn’t the worst idea.
No need to do two games a week and overburden the players with a schedule that won’t be continued through to the start of the season.
Get your point Callum, but if NJ is rotating the squad and trying different combinations (and giving a few youngsters a chance to interact with the more experienced players) it shouldn't be too taxing on any one individual?
Charlton's pre-season schedule has been finalised with behind closed doors friendlies against Millwall and Crystal Palace now confirmed.
The Addicks will play a behind-closed-doors game away at Millwall on Tuesday, July 16th.
Nathan Jones' side will then travel to Crystal Palace on Friday, July 19th. The game kicks-off at 12pm (BST) and supporters will be able to watch the game live on CharltonTV. Click here to purchase your streaming pass.

I don’t think it’s woke nonsense, I guess it cuts out policing costs, which some would say is a good thing, so they can spend resources at other woke nonsense, so yes I’m probably agreeing with you, in a roundabout way.

I've received an email from Tom in response to my query re PSFs.
He states that the £7pm subscription via Charlton TV continues to cover all PSFs " that we are allowed to stream" but, in the case of some non league clubs, there is an agreement to only announce the streaming on the day of the game to minimise the impact on attendance.
This makes sense. of course, albeit making it a last minute decision for some fans.
Once upon a time I was on the Charlton SAG (Safety Advisory Group) as the fan rep along with the club, police, council, etc.
Local derbies in friendlies are a problem as police charge full costs, unlike league and cup games. So financially it is an issue as well as there being potential for disorder.
We know there is a history of trouble v Palace and there was trouble at London Bridge after last year's game v the Spanners.
So it seems our police didn't want the games at the Valley and neither did the Surrey or East End old bill, so behind closed doors it is.
Remember in PSFs the bigger team visits the smaller team. Welling never came to the Valley.
Should be a good test of the Glaziers and Scots squad facing us.
