Our now retired Therapy dog Valli who since she was 9 months has worked as a Reading dog at school has struggled for two years mentally since we lost our JJ who was her soul mate.
Despite our best efforts to stop her self mutilation with her consistently wearing inflatable collars or vests she reopens scar tissue from minor surgery she had on her flank when she was around two and keeping an open wound clean and clear from any infection is taking its toll on her,  we have a decision to make after Christmas ironically be the 3rd anniversary of JJ’s passing.
Its now a quality of life decision because other than exercising she lives in these collars to protect her from herself. 

Quality of life decisions are the toughest to make because I’ll always doubt myself on it being the right one.
