I said it when NJ was appointed “we need 6 wins and I can only see 4”

    We have sleepwalked into L2.

I said it when NJ was appointed “we need 6 wins and I can only see 4”

    We have sleepwalked into L2.
If four wins is all we get then that is cutting it fine but it could still be enough to get to 50 points with five draws elsewhere.

W4 D5 L4 should be achievable for this group.

On that note, combinations to get to 50 or more from our current tally…
    - 6 wins
    - 5 wins & 2 draws
    - 4 wins & 5 draws
    - 3 wins & 8 draws

Sleepwalked? Been doin' a Tom Petty since November (free fallin' yeah)

I have us finishing on 50 with 4 wins, 5 draws and 4 defeats. Hopefully it's enough for survival by the skin of our teeth 😬

We will win our last 3 matches when the pressure is off and we are already gone, so a total of 14 from now leaving us on 50 which still will not be enough
Now that would be painful to take.Definitely wouldn’t be happy with those results.

Also you mean 17 points from now if you add up your predictions.

We've been free falling for a very long time (except Wembley) so it's hardly surprising to most lifers that we're on the precipice of League 2.

I still believe that 48 points will be enough but we need to go at teams like their lives depend on it and score more than the other team as defending is not our strong point.

Do that and still fall short... then fair enough... The blame for relegation will lie squarely on the Board and Scott for dithering around Xmas.

I think what we need is one of our forwards like Kanu or Ladapony to go on a scoring run a bit like Tevez did for West Ham when they nearly got relegated...

Anything is possible and yes it seems a bit like a pipe dream but you never know... At least Nathan has given us some hope in sea of pus and despair.

If we managed that then not only would Nathan Jones deserve to be a "sir" he would need a stand named after him as well as a statue outside the main stand  !!

Admire the optimism but that’s bonkers in my opinion.

I don’t think we will get as many points as above but I’m really surprised at the amount of negativity on this thread. If you look at the obvious improvement in a couple of weeks I just can’t see away we are in any danger of relegation NJ will continue to improve us and enough points will come I’m sure. Next season we will be up there chasing promotion! It just makes the wasted games with that twat Appleton even more stupid in hindsight than it was at the time of his appointment

    5 wins, 6 draws, 2 losses = 21 points

    54 points in total.

Our win against Shrewsbury in our last home game of the season keeps us up and sends them down.

    We ALWAYS beat Portsmouth

I can say categorically that we have never played Portsmouth when they were 39 points in front of cafc and we were still only in February !
Charlton fans are as mad as a box of frogs, despite Nathan Jones needing to convince  the players they can beat Pompey.
A draw would be a bonus point before we start the winning run after Derby away.

19 points from 13 matches and we go again in the 3rd tier next season after a superb close season where our squad of 25 are well above this nightmare season !

12-14. And it will be enough. Just.
  • Options
So how's it going. Anyone worried who wasn't before?
  • Options
We need a win, the sooner the better. Otherwise we’re down. That and then a majority of wins and draws will do it. Certainly squeaky bum time.
  • Options
We need 14 points minimum right? Would that be enough?
  • Options
With everyone playing pretty much everyone in the bottom 12 they can't all win so I think 47 or 48 points will be enough based on previous seasons.

Games in hand ain't points so we have sporting chance based on the tenacity shown in the last few matches.

However, if we can't get enough wins against 8 of the bottom 12 then a new league beckons and deservedly so.

A dreadful thought but whatever League we end up in there needs to be some tough choices made about players, their contracts and most importantly the SMT who are responsible for this mess and will not deserve a free pass if we survive...thats my concern that they will keep their jobs and we will back in the crap again.

I managed to get a record amount of LOLs for my prediction. We will see who's laughing when we do reach the heady heights of 14th place!

I think we'll lose to Derby but then win the following 3

Breaking up the games into should be losses, should be wins and flip a (three sided) coin.

Two “should be wins” and “four should be losses” leaves seven draws - 13 points - 46 final tally.

    Pompey (h) - 0 point
    Derby (a) - 0 points
    Northampton (a) - 1 point
    Cheltenham (a) - 1 point
    Carlisle (h) - 3 points
    Fleetwood (a) - 1 points
    Wigan (h) - 1 points
    Exeter (a) - 1 points
    Stevenage (h) - 0 points
    Barnsley (h) - 0 points
    Cambridge (a) - 1 points
    Shrewsbury (h) - 3 points
    Wycombe (a) - 1 points

We draw a lot of games (joint most in the entire division) but we likely won’t draw as many as 7 of the last 13 so you’d like to think that three or four of them will be turned into the wins we need and gives us breathing room to take a couple of unaccounted defeats.

One point ahead of conservative expectation - conservative prediction moves up to 47.

My optimistic prediction for the last 12 is DDWWWWDDDWWW - 60 points.

By my count there are 6 us still standing that predicted all the results left for the clean sweep.

    @Addick Addict
    @Chunes
    @AndyG

I think we all have us getting 0 points tomorrow so I hope we are all wrong!

Carlise picking up another 17 points

    Charlton another 21 points

Unable to see that but have no problem with any team that doesn’t hit 50 points will be relegated.

Its all guesses of course but at least it makes an interesting end of season.

    My guess:

    Derby (a) - 0 points
    Northampton (a) - 3 points
    Cheltenham (a) - 0 point
    Carlisle (h) - 3 points
    Fleetwood (a) - 1 point
    Wigan (h) - 1 points
    Exeter (a) - 3 points
    Stevenage (h) - 0 points
    Barnsley (h) - 0 points
    Cambridge (a) - 0 points
    Shrewsbury (h) - 3 points
    Wycombe (a) - 1 point

Would leave us on 49 points.  Touch and go and probably not enough. Turn the Cheltenham game from 0 points to 1 and we would likely stay up.

You were so close with those first two, but football is a results-driven business with no prizes for close.
