I had the good fortune of meeting Dave when I moved in to
Charlton back in early 2000 and became part of the gang down the Oak, What great days they were. When I met Ian it turned out he knew Dave well
too and looked up to him as much as I did. In fact, I don’t know anyone that didn’t and I
am not just talking literally.
Over the last few years I have never met anyone that has
dealt with their illness in such a strong and pragmatic way. At times it was tough to listen to him talk about
what his future held but he was strong so you had to be strong too. He was as brave as lion with a massive heart.
I took this pic below late last year, when we had a great afternoon out. I hope the other lads in it don't mind me posting it on here but it’s a lovely picture of a great afternoon we spent drinking, laughing and chatting shit.

Absolutely shocked and so sad to hear this news. My heart goes out to his family and friends.
I met Dave through CARD and he was just the nicest man you could wish to meet. I worked with him on a couple of projects after CARD and have some lovely memories sitting around his kitchen table chatting about all manner of things. A most humble, decent, and articulate man. RIP Dave.

Didn’t know Dave just remember his Cardinal Sin posts, but from the unanimous posts above it’s obvious the Charlton community/family has lost a significant voice and a good man.

Rest in peace Dave, now I've seen the photos I recognise him and think I've chatted to him with @Curb_It and @AFKABartram in attendance who knew him. I could be mistaken so I obviousky apologise if this is not the case
I cannot say I knew him however he is one of us and I really hope he has found peace and that my thoughts are with his family at this sad time
This is a brilliant photo Dave took a couple of years ago of a well-known building almost opposite his house. I'm sure a few glasses will be raised there in his memory in the forthcoming weeks.
I posted a simple RIP above but after reading the posts I wanted to add a bit more. I didn’t know Dave but it’s obvious that Dave was very loved and respected. Losing a loved one really does hurt.

Spoke to Dave at length last year in the Pelton Arms at a gig. We shared our journeys and stories, his, at that stage more advanced and aggressive than mine. I’ve known Dave for a long time, we moved in very similar circles, but that night was one of the most humbling and emotional for me, due to his strength of character, positivity beyond my comprehension and his own words of advice and comfort to me, I actually felt like a charlatan even talking about my illness, I cried like a baby in the Uber home. Inevitable but still terrible news.
RIP Dave, a proper Charlton face, you leave behind many, many friends.
