Who should we keep, who should we let go ?

I also don't think he would want to come back given how much he was scapegoated when he was here, but I wouldn't mind him at all.
Some interesting ones at Stoke, Powell, Oakley-Booth, and Clucas. Clucas has moved for a lot of money in the past and it doesn't seem to have worked out for him at Stoke. Powell is probably still a good player at this level.0 -
seth plum said:SDAddick said:Here's how I see it. Going to try to keep it realistic, i.e. we're not going to sign JRS, we're not going to get Chuks to terminate his contract, etc. Also, this is for players who had at least a somewhat consistent first team presence this season (plus Deji, who seemed to fall off a cliff for some reason), so doesn't include players coming through like Rylah, Kone, etc.
Keep (under contract): AMB, Wollacott, Ness, Egbo, Dobbo, Fraser, Payne, Mitchell, Deji, Campbell, CBT, Leaburn, Kanu, Aneke (he's not going anywhere, he's not going to agree to terminate his contract, but we can't rely on him)
Sign (Out of Contract/On Loan): Hector, Sess (I don't think he's attainable), Thomas, Henry, Kane (but I think he's probably gone)
Move on (Out of contract/loan ending/try to get rid): ::takes deep breath:: Inniss, Killkenny, Penney (bless), Harness, JRS (would obviously keep but won't happen), Bonne, Kirk, Lavelle, DJ (think he's out of contract)
Not sure but leaning "No": Morgan, Clare. I think both could be good players at this level, but both are tactically lacking and their best position/role isn't entirely clear/nailed down. It may be best for everyone, especially Albie, if they move on. But given how much both played down the stretch, I also wouldn't be surprised if both are at least offered new deals, if not signed up for next season. I won't be too bothered either way, but if we sign them, we need to also sign players who are better.
Loan out: Henry, Kanu, Deji. I think it's really important for their development that they play men's football, especially since Deji just doesn't seem fancied at the moment. I might add Mitchell to this category, but he seems like he's ready to be a fourth choice CB at this level starting next season.
That leaves:
GK: 2 (our strongest position)
RB: 1 (+1 if we keep Clare and/or Kane)
CB: 3, but need one more who is capable of being first choice
LB: 1, but realistically 0 given I don't think we sign Sess. We need two.
DM: 1, we need cover, Dobbo will not play almost every game again next season
CM: 2 need two more first choice CM, maybe one who can play as the holding player. Can mix and match a bit here. But we need quality more than quantity.
Wing: 3 I'm counting Payne as a winger here. This is another one where we need quality, not quantity. A first choice RW and we look pretty strong here.
ST: 1 Kanu needs to go on loan unless we play two up top regularly, and Aneke can't be trusted. I also don't think Miles will be here next season, so we need at least two.
That 6/7 signings that we need. Some can and probably should be loans, given that's a good way to get quality players we might not otherwise have the ability to sign. The good news is if we can resign a couple of players we have the framework for good depth. But this summer, we need quality, not quantity, and a lot of quality at that. That's going to be tough to get.
I think you may have overlooked McGrandles.0 -
Not convinced about keeping Thomas, think we should be looking for better0

When does our retained/released list get announced?0

Unless the club is just waiting to see if those who have been offered a new deal will sign it, I can't see any reason why the club doesn't announce who is going and who is staying.0 -
Have to make our own retained/released list it seems as and when the players announce them now 🤣🤣So far we knowGavin ❌Harvey ❌Reilly ❌French ❌0

I suspect:
1. There are contracted players we want to go who we can't get rid of (Aneke, Kirk etc)
2. There are players we want to keep who want to leave.(fill in the blanks, maybe Leaburn)
3. There are new players we are trying to sign
4. In between there are players who we might want to keep or to leave depending on the result of 1,2 or 3 ( most of the squad)1 -
Retain/release list becoming a pretty long ‘soon’. Hopefully Dean is not being dicked around in the background already…1

I can't believe if the decision to release them has been made then that decision will be changed if we can't find a suitable replacement.
Just come out and say who has been released.0 -
Not sure why everyone is so surprised it hasnt been released yet when we literally played our last game last weekend 🤣🤣
How many clubs have actually released their retained/released lists yet, I have just had a brief look(not looking at every club just the clubs around us) Derby, Portsmouth, Wycombe and Lincoln not released theirs.
Last season our final game was April 30th and we announced the list on May 10th, this year people are up in arms because we haven't announced it 4 days after our final day of the season(one of them being a bank holiday)
At least give it until next week before we get the pitch forks out 😉2 -

I counted 2 people, although it could be as high as 3 or 4 if I missed their comment.0 -

Perhaps they need approval from the new owners?!?!
I'll get my coat on the way out.0 -
The players that need to be released -
Innis - he needs to go but suspect we may keep him the longer the ownership issue goes on. The man has shown himself to be a liability time and time again, firstly through injuries then his reckless aggression. TBH he was lucky to get another season with us.
Wollacott - no fault of his own and would love him as a number 2 in an ideal world but is on a first team salary and unfortunately i have AMB slightly ahead in terms of quality and massively ahead in terms of potential for improvement and financial rewards.
Clare - he started well but unfortunately can tell he isnt committed anymore, seems more interested in his fashion label now. Is a jack of all trades master of none and his performances have dipped.
Jaysimi - not as fast as CBT or have the ability either.
Bonne - was never a fan when we had him first time was brought in to take pressure off Leaburn and has been woeful. We need another CF as soon as possible. Bonne isnt a striker at this level for me l, at least for a club wanting promotion.
Chuks - Unfortunate because his ability is clearly there but he has to go down as one of the worst decisions this administration made we paid cash and gave 3 years to a player we all knew wasnt fit enough to play.1 -

Ah great that's a big help! Looks like from Instagram that Williams has a serious hamstring injury but will be back anyway.0 - Sponsored links:

Yeah Chuks is a hard one but it may be better just paying out his contract to free up squad space and salary budget.0 -
What 'reckless aggression' do you mean from last season? Of Inniss' 3 unrescinded red cards, 2 were last-man fouls where he barely touched the opponent and the other was a second yellow for an attempt to score a last-minute winner against a Cotswolds village whom we should have mashed out of sight. Frankly if someone didn't go in hard to try and head that corner home I'd have been disappointed5

Not really defendable.5 -
Wasn't it last season where Innis elbowed an Oxford player in the face but the ref missed it. Exceptionally lucky not to get a red or a retrospective red for that as it was as alclear a red card as you could have seen.6

These red cards he 'should' have gotten - you know there's a pretty thorough retrospective punishment system?
I look at him and I see a very useful squad member who's clearly good to have around the group, who can step in when required.3 -
