    Two critically endangered parrots have escaped London Zoo.

    Blue-throated macaws Lily and Margot were on a routine flight when they flew out of their enclosure on Monday.

    The pair have taken detours and hidden high up in the trees in the past but have never completely disappeared until now.

    London Zoo has asked for any sightings to be reported to them, adding the two blue and yellow-feathered birds were likely to stick together.

    Looks like a Kestrel to me. They tend to hover over grassy areas and then dive down whenever they spot a mouse or vole.

    Saw a Buzzard the other day whilst in the car. I had moved over in a lane to let a car by, and this surprisingly large brown/yellow bird (about the size of a long chicken) flew slowly across my bonnet at about 4 foot (whilst giving me a nasty beaky look!). I was dumbstruck, and had to look it up when I got in, wasn't my idea of how I thought a buzzard looked. Apparently a few nest around here.

    This is the look it gave me!

    A Cattle Egret enjoying the cricket season.  It isn't really a cricket, it's a grasshopper. I believe, a Lamenting Grasshopper. Bet it was lamenting this encounter.

    Thanks. Yes, I got it last week in Mallorca. This lone Egret was patrolling the towpath next to the main canal in the s'Albufera Nature Reserve (highly recommend). It was doing quite well feeding itself, but it had a droopy wing, which I guess is why it got separated from its mates and why it was so easy for me to get that close. We found the others in a field about a mile away. It also had an infestation of bugs in its feathers. I don't know, but my guess is that these birds undertake mutual grooming and that a lone individual quickly gets quite cooty.

    I didn't take this photo, but I was on the birdwatching cruise with the photographer when it was taken.
    One of the two White-Tailed Eagles now semi-resident in Poole Harbour.

    Does it have a forked tail? As big or bigger than a buzzard? Multicoloured russets, browns and paler sections?

    Last month we had a trip to Folkestone and watched some cormorants in the harbour. It is fascinating to see how far they swim underwater. They always pop up far from where they originally dived.

    Cormorants are greedy so and sos. I saw this one with a Pipefish a couple of months ago. The Pipefish put up a good fight but after a couple of minutes the Cormorant manoeuvred it into position and swallowed it whole.
