Rumours that Mitch Marsh might be in for Green.

Also wouldn't be surprised at Boland for Hazelwood.
    And Murphy for Lyon

And Head has shaved off his moustache

Marsh will arguably strengthen the batting but weaken the fielding and bowling .. Murphy is no mug he had a 7fer against India in his first ever test .. England really need to get off to a good start after putting the Aussies in once more .. I always prefer batting first but bazball  tactics insist on attack attack attack  from first ball to last .. come on England !!!!!

Unless it's a real green-top or cloudy as f*ck, don't see why we'd choose to bowl first

Apparently 4th innings chases have been very successful recently at Headingley.

I was surpirsed too but, as Atherton said, the last 5 Test matches there have been won at Headingley by the team batting last. Having won the toss in all three Tests, we can have no complaints that the decisions as to what to do were taken away from us.

Looks like a belting quick pitch which is what we want to see in test cricket - well done the grounds staff

I wonder how many England batsmen suddenly develop an injury when they see Wood turning up at the nets

This is pretty much as good as test cricket gets. Absolute thunder bolts from Wood. Marnus doing a decent job up to now

I was just thinking the very same thing. Imagine if we lost this form of the game and didn't get to see the challenge of a batsman having to face someone bowling at 96mph to four slips

That's great, but what if he was bowling 6 bumpers an over with a spread field? Absolute pinnacle of spectator sport

Good to see extras doing their bit in being top score already for the Aussies

Trouble is Khawaja and Labuschagne look like they have time to light a fag when facing anyone else at the other end to Wood and they know that Wood can only bowl a limited number of overs in any one stint

    Gotta love Mark Wood.
Always gives 100% and leaves it all out there.
Plus he has the best smile in cricket.

Woods is scary quick, love to see it! Imagine if we had him and Tongue alternating?
