Peter Varney asking for big crowd for Brighton match (Potential Buyers?)

  • Hopefully Brighton won't field a full strength side.
  • Now the East is open I've registered interest in Valley Express... anyone heard back from the club on Valley Express for this game?
Not yet, I was told they would have a clearer picture at the beginning of next week (I assume after they gauged interest on the coaches tonight).
  • Turn the clock back 15 years and tell your old self that brighton and hove Albion are bringing 6,000 to the valley… on buses from Sussex (anyone remember valley express)… and will have more there than us
There’s no possibility Brighton’s allocation will be bigger than the home support, even on current sales, which are about 4,000-5,000 (mainly in the lower west). That is plenty for a cup game that won’t sell out nearly three weeks ahead of matchday.

Brighton have the whole west upper.
    Are you being serious Airman?

    That's going to be weird.
  • I had a quick chat with PV tonight and, unsurprisingly, he revealed nothing. A few people made reference to his request but all he said was that he hoped to see a big crowd. He's expecting a very large Brighton contingent BTW.
Peter Varney’s ‘expecting a very large Brighton contingent’ what does that even mean ?

  • Wow, I was actually hoping the West Upper would be segregated like it was for the Bournemouth game and that we'd given them part of the Curbs too as we have done in FA Cup games before. Was hoping for a West Upper ticket as bizarre as it might sound as it's the only part of the ground I've never watched a game from.

My season ticket seat and block's sold out in the Covered Upper too. Don't mind sitting elsewhere in the ground for cup games but was hoping to tick off the West Upper here lol.
  • Genuinely dreading the Brighton game and don't wish to go but will get a ticket because of Barney's tweet. Jees I hope good, new owners are around the corner.
    Who’s Barney ?
I think you know the answer to that! But I'll explain anyway. Seeing this thread is about a tweet by Peter varney and b is next to v on a keyboard, it's clearly a typo
  • The turnstiles to the upper are next up the lower, will the police allow fans to queue next to each other
  • Ffs that could get tricky with pissed up twunts form differing sides all milling around the back of the West Stand
A late moody controversial winner for Brightons stiffs (obviously a strong side will be challenging the 7-0 scoreline) , who knows but there’s ugly potential with sooooo many dickheads alive and well in todays society

Well a couple of thousand Coalville fans took the piss for 90 minutes so what's wrong with a few thousand more.

It happens at a lot of grounds these days

Better than having Brighton using turnstiles in Harvey Gardens. Nothing like this happens without a police decision.

There is no significant money in this. After VAT and concessions, Charlton will do well to make a fiver per Brighton fan at 45% revenue split.

That said I don’t see the merit of locking them out.

Would they be so generous to us?

If they had 20,000 spare seats, probably.

  • I would be curious to know the players view on this.
I should think it would be quite demoralising to come out at a home cup game to be greeted by such a large number of away fans.
  • Andrew Barclay currently going on a Hunter Biden laptop conspiracy rant on Twitter. Let’s hope he’s not involved this time round.
    Because of his political views?
  • Starting to get vibes that this isn’t an ‘new ownership’ rally, but a ‘put money in the transfer budget’ one…
would only be Charlton after all

Shouldn't need so shit and maybe our own fans would turn up for them then.

I don't like the idea of having that many away fans at The Valley but that pathetic bunch of shites' feelings about it are the least of my concerns.

Great, thanks. Would hope there's sufficient interest to put on some coaches.

Not fussy who I travel with, checked Brighton's coach sites, see if they're doing a Tunbridge Wells pick up for this one. Nope. But interesting to see the supporter's club charging £26 for this game. Shows what a relative bargain Valley Express is.
  • Who gives a shit about letting Brighton fans come to the game? Some people want to watch a game....let them watch it. Never bothered me when Chelsea or Watford (in the cup) brought 1000s of fans....scattered all over the East Terrace. All added to the atmosphere. Remember that....atmosphere? It used to be a thing at football.
