Peter Varney asking for big crowd for Brighton match (Potential Buyers?)

Hopefully Brighton won't field a full strength side.0

Not yet, I was told they would have a clearer picture at the beginning of next week (I assume after they gauged interest on the coaches tonight).Er_Be_Ab_Pl_Wo_Wo_Ch said:Now the East is open I've registered interest in Valley Express... anyone heard back from the club on Valley Express for this game?0 -
I had a quick chat with PV tonight and, unsurprisingly, he revealed nothing. A few people made reference to his request but all he said was that he hoped to see a big crowd. He's expecting a very large Brighton contingent BTW.6

There’s no possibility Brighton’s allocation will be bigger than the home support, even on current sales, which are about 4,000-5,000 (mainly in the lower west). That is plenty for a cup game that won’t sell out nearly three weeks ahead of matchday.paulsturgess said:Turn the clock back 15 years and tell your old self that brighton and hove Albion are bringing 6,000 to the valley… on buses from Sussex (anyone remember valley express)… and will have more there than us
Brighton have the whole west upper.0 -
Peter Varney’s ‘expecting a very large Brighton contingent’ what does that even mean ?Bangkokaddick said:I had a quick chat with PV tonight and, unsurprisingly, he revealed nothing. Genuinely dreading the Brighton game and don't wish to go but will get a ticket because of Varney's tweet. Jees I hope good, new owners are around the corner.5

Weve given them the whole of the West Upper? Seriously?
What a fucking mess we have become.9 -
What’s messed up about that?Off_it said:Weve given them the whole of the West Upper? Seriously?

BHA fans’ money is as good as anybody’s
Charlton fans are apathetic about a cup competition we won’t win
Club can’t afford to be choosy about revenue
If there’s BHA demand they’d come anyway and sit all around in “home “ areas
TS made lots of mistakes but this ain’t one16 -
If you cant see what's wrong with giving someone half your main stand for a cup game then theres no point engaging with you.Billy_Mix said:

Wow, I was actually hoping the West Upper would be segregated like it was for the Bournemouth game and that we'd given them part of the Curbs too as we have done in FA Cup games before. Was hoping for a West Upper ticket as bizarre as it might sound as it's the only part of the ground I've never watched a game from.
My season ticket seat and block's sold out in the Covered Upper too. Don't mind sitting elsewhere in the ground for cup games but was hoping to tick off the West Upper here lol.0 -
Yeh, to be honest given the relative numbers it would make more sense if we had the Jimmy Case Seed stand and they had the rest of the ground.Billy_Mix said:

Maybe Castore could rustle up some blue and white striped clobber, after all BHA fans money is as good as anybodys.
To be honest, given it will probably be a cold night and they'll have gloves on, maybe they would like us to wipe their bottoms for them after they have shit on us6 -
I think you know the answer to that! But I'll explain anyway. Seeing this thread is about a tweet by Peter varney and b is next to v on a keyboard, it's clearly a typoDucktapeshoerepairs said:

The turnstiles to the upper are next up the lower, will the police allow fans to queue next to each other0
-
Ffs that could get tricky with pissed up twunts form differing sides all milling around the back of the West Stand
A late moody controversial winner for Brightons stiffs (obviously a strong side will be challenging the 7-0 scoreline) , who knows but there’s ugly potential with sooooo many dickheads alive and well in todays society3 -

Well a couple of thousand Coalville fans took the piss for 90 minutes so what's wrong with a few thousand more.

Better than having Brighton using turnstiles in Harvey Gardens. Nothing like this happens without a police decision.Todds_right_hook said:The turnstiles to the upper are next up the lower, will the police allow fans to queue next to each other
There is no significant money in this. After VAT and concessions, Charlton will do well to make a fiver per Brighton fan at 45% revenue split.
That said I don’t see the merit of locking them out.

Would they be so generous to us?Airman Brown said:

I would be curious to know the players view on this.I should think it would be quite demoralising to come out at a home cup game to be greeted by such a large number of away fans.1
-
Andrew Barclay currently going on a Hunter Biden laptop conspiracy rant on Twitter. Let’s hope he’s not involved this time round.

Starting to get vibes that this isn’t an ‘new ownership’ rally, but a ‘put money in the transfer budget’ one…
would only be Charlton after all1 -
I’d like to know the players views on being out performed every week by teams earning a third of what they are.Baldybonce said:I would be curious to know the players view on this.I should think it would be quite demoralising to come out at a home cup game to be greeted by such a large number of away fans.
They are in no position to complain.22 -

Shouldn't need so shit and maybe our own fans would turn up for them then.
I don't like the idea of having that many away fans at The Valley but that pathetic bunch of shites' feelings about it are the least of my concerns.0 -
Great, thanks. Would hope there's sufficient interest to put on some coaches.LargeAddick said:

Not fussy who I travel with, checked Brighton's coach sites, see if they're doing a Tunbridge Wells pick up for this one. Nope. But interesting to see the supporter's club charging £26 for this game. Shows what a relative bargain Valley Express is.0 -
The Brighton game has the unbelievable potential to be either a new low point where we are humiliated both on the pitch and in the stands or bizarrely a high point where if Peter Varney is correct, we have a new dawn on the cards.5
-
Who gives a shit about letting Brighton fans come to the game? Some people want to watch a game....let them watch it. Never bothered me when Chelsea or Watford (in the cup) brought 1000s of fans....scattered all over the East Terrace. All added to the atmosphere. Remember that....atmosphere? It used to be a thing at football.4

The one thing I would say surley there can't be any smoke without fire in this instance, he has seen how the fans have reacted to his comments on twitter and if there wasnt anything in it I think a man of his integrity would told us that, think it is more a case of he has told us much as he can to this point9
