  • Huge problem we've got as opposed to many other clubs is our demographic and the community within it.
If you walked a 3 Mile radius from the valley and knocked on doors within in that area I suspect only a very small fraction would support Charlton.
We've got a great community trust, but how many of the families and kids they serve in the local area go on to support this club?
Do the same in places like Ipswich, Burnley and Portsmouth and you'd see a completely different picture.
We are greatly reliant on families that have moved away trying to get their kids to follow their parents and come along week after week. When there's longish distance involved that can start to become a problem, especially if the fayre were serving up is pretty sickly.
As far as football goes,London is especially premier League centric and as each year passes I'm not sure there's really a place for a poorly performing league one outfit anymore.
The only way to beat the Premier league in terms of attraction is value for money. At the moment we don’t offer a value for money alternative. £30 for league 1 or £50 for West Ham premier league tickets is a no brainer for any London football fan that isn’t already a strong fan of a team. You can go to a West Ham European game from £24 so why would you spend more than that on League 1 football. Similarly for Season tickets, our average price of £400+ is more expensive than the cheapest West Ham season tickets and a decent view at the London stadium for £585 again is much better value for money than what we offer other than in the covered end lower. I’m guessing similar pricing comparisons can be made with Millwall

Indeed, Portsmouth Ipswich and burnley don’t have 10 other clubs in the same city, pretty much all in higher divisions 😩

Wasn’t there a survey on Twitter that contradicted that point? I think it implied the most supported teams in SE London were us and Palarse.

As above, and with the transport links we have it's much easier for folks in our area to travel to any prem team in London. So having ridiculous ticket prices we are committing football suicide.

Can't disagree with people and how they feel about it now - lethargy / apathy all of that - but - win 4 games on the trot and everybody will be gagging to get back down there - if you didn't buy a season ticket (without an obvious reason) before last season started however i would say you are a lost cause and shouldn't be bothering yourself or anybody else on here any more - that was when TS had a clean slate, was seen as the saviour and there was everything to get behind. If you fall into that category then your just a moany fucker who wollows in misery
So only season ticket holders are allowed opinions? Classy.
Everyone’s entitled an opinion - I’ve just given mine
