2022-23 UEFA Champions League

You’re damn right I’m starting the new thread this early.

The road to Istanbul has officially started.

Inter Escalades of Andorra have beaten La Fiorita of San Marino in the first semi final of the preliminary round.
Estonias Levadia play Vikingur Reykjavik later and the two winners will face each other on Friday.

The draw for the 1st qualifying round and the league path for the 2nd qualifying round have been made.
There’s a huge clash in the 2nd qualifying round as Dynamo Kyiv have been drawn against Fenerbahce.

Man City are in pot 1 for the group stage draw, Chelsea, Spurs and Liverpool will all be in pot 2.
Celtic will be in pot 4. Rangers begin in the 3rd qualifying round

Ahead of this weeks 3rd qualifying round games, the draw for the playoff round was made today.

If Rangers beat Union SG over two legs they will face either Monaco or PSV for a place in the group stages.

Elsewhere, Lithuanian champions Zalgiris beat Malmo in their 2nd qualifying round. Still 2 rounds away from the group stages but because losers of a round drop to the below competition it means that a Lithuanian team will play in a European football group stage for the first time ever.
if they lose their next 2 qualifiers they will still compete in the Europa Conference League.

Viktoria Plzen have won 2-1 in Moldova against the fake oligarch plaything club FC Sherif, thus doing everyone a favour. They will then hopefully thrash the mercenaries in Plzen as they did HJK Helsinki in the previous round. It’s painful how just qualifying for the group stages is far more financially beneficial for a Czech team than winning the national league. Viktorka rested 4 players for their league opener on Saturday.

Is the Ukrainian League going ahead? I must admit I haven't bothered to look it up at all but presumed they wouldn't be playing at all

It starts in a couple of weeks. Last i read was that all games will be played in and around Kiev and obviously without fans.

Both major clubs (Dynamo Kiev and Shakhtar) have sold or loaned out pretty much all of their foreign players though. Shakhtar especially have been decimated as they used to have tons of Brazilians.

If the 2nd leg was at Ibrox i'd fancy Rangers to win that given their recent record in Europe, but with the first leg at Rangers i think PSV are probably favourites.

Group C and H looking very interesting. Would be great to see Inter in C and Dortmund in H.

All four English teams can consider themselves relatively happy. Chelsea the hardest opponents there with AC Milan.

Easy draw for Rangers.  Shocking if they don't win that group.

Celtic will do well to get a point
  • Haaland going back to Dortmund. Lewandowski back to Bayern.

Poor old Plzen won't be getting much from their group.
  • Group A: Ajax, Liverpool, Napoli, Rangers

Will probably be the best group for match atmospheres, all 4 sides have big support and traveling fans.

Surely that’s what they want though?

Must be better than getting Frankfurt, Shakhtar and Benfica
