I think they are a part of every full English now, but they are an import. A purist would argue that a true English breakfast should only consist of product made, grown, sourced or butchered locally - Sausage, bacon, mushrooms, eggs, fried bread, black pudding, toast and butter...
Beans are ok as long as they are served up in a ramekin, don’t want the little buggers touching my egg or bacon.
They will all mingle together once in your stomach.

Behave, “served in a ramekin” Whenever I get beans in one of those poncy little bowls I tip them straight out. It’s a full English not fine dining
We generally use Sea Bream at Blendon or the Anchor at Albany Park. But lately, I’ve been buying M&S dine in for 2 Haddock and Triple cooked chips. Nice crispy batter and tasty chips. Also comes with a pot of minty mushy peas
I now live in central London and there doesn’t seem to be a decent local chippy. The fish n chips place are quite poncy like the Golden Hind in Marylebone which is quite expensive. I went to Poppies the other day and I think it costs about £17 for cod n chips. It was okay. But the other day I walked pass a new restaurant (Tony Page) nearby and the fish and chips on the menu was priced at £36 (looks a nice restaurant) and the burger and chips was £34. I’m sure they will add service charge on top. But it did get me thinking of what is the cost of fish n chips now outside central london?

It just reminded me that in my youth I always bemoaned the absence of a chippy near Charing Cross after an evening on the beer. 🙂

Villiers street not actually close. I still miss my chippy in Brewery Road and the kebab shop by Plumstead station.

I used to work round there and wondered if they still had the miserable looking fella behind the bar and the old boy on the piano for a sing-a-long twice a week.

Still remember a fair few years ago the absolute diabolical offering at the valleys new at the time fish and chip kiosk. Called it addick and chips. £7.50 for a curled up bit of batter with a thin piece of fish incased in it and a handful of tasteless chips. That was the last time I ever had any 'food' from the valley.

My recommendation might be a bit out of date as I Lived around the corner in Dukes Road from 94-96 but this was visited very often.
