I don't like the suggestion that we can press full steam ahead with recruitment notwithstanding the new manager may not be in place until late in the window. The players we would want to recruit for, say Gareth Ainsworth or Daniel Farke would be totally different. It would be a nonsense not to get the manager's involvement.
Someone mentioned a woman doing the job and the more I think about it,it wouldn't surprise me in the slightest.
The publicity Sandgaard would get would be something only someone like him could only dream of. Would go down an absolute treat with his American following and maybe even some of them would watch. Never been done before and it's a new angle.
Got Sandgaard written all over it!
We could expect to get a better quality manager as the current situation makes it much less likely that a woman would get a management role of a men's team. Therefore an employer's market.
There is no way a Woman would walk into the dressing room and smash teacups, she would calmly gather them up and place them in the dishwasher.
Sandgaard's comments since the announcement worry me. He's getting too involved in the running of the team.
Talking about high press & defensive blocks like he knows what he's talking about.
It's a worrying sign.
The recruitment strategy worries me too. Don't think the manager has much say. I cant see the club progressing until he changes his approach & starts putting the team above his own ego
Why can't we just be a normal football club??
Well I know what those terms mean and so do most football supporters, why do you think he doesn’t?
I also want to see us playing a high press and expansive football. Why you think the person who is stumping up the money should not be allowed to have his say is bewildering.
As for the recruitment strategy, he has just changed that for good reason. Maybe we should give it a couple of hours before deciding if it is good or not?
I know a very long term Curbs stand season ticket holder who used to work with Mark Warburton in the city. He told me a while ago, when he was at Brentford actually, that the other traders called Mark ‘Warbo’. That is all my inside information I’m afraid.
A successful trader in the city in his late 30's with plenty of *money in the bank he turns his back on that lavish lifestyle to follow his dream of coaching in professional football. He travelled Europe watching the difference coaching methods of top European clubs.
The big difference with Nigel Adkins is despite Mark being 59 to NA's 57, Mark Warburton has stayed working in the crazy world of football with all its politics and maverick owners. Nigel Adkins took the time out and then found football never stops evolving with constant new formations and agents becoming more powerful than ever.
You need to be a strong character to manage Glasgow Rangers and he did that on their Journey back to the top table after their enforced relegations.
In the last 20+ years Warburton is over qualified in being a top coach, manager, director of football, plus with his background in the City he has also worked on Footballer's contracts.
The big issue would be MW wouldn't accept not having the main say in transfers and the Martin Sandgaard position at the club. Thomas Sandgaard would've to accept he has a very bright Manager on and off the pitch and give him 100% support.
So my choices would be either Mark Warburton with total managerial control or Curbs as "Director of football" with Michael Beale as manager/Head coach.
* Dough
So the problem with Adkins is football changed so much in 18 months so the solution is Curbs who has been out of the game more more like 18 years?
Edit that ignores the fact Warburton had 18 months out between the forest and qpr jobs as well.
Have we got one yet..? Anyway, my great suggestions should look as valid come November, so I'll carry on.
How bout Guy Luzon hey..? Yes, but wait a few days. Right now he's probably having Independence day Mangal with Omer Adam at a dead sea carpark fanning with iphone

He's been speaking to his Danish mate at Brentford too much and is basically trying copy their "moneyball" model and regurgitating what he will have told him in an attempt to make him sound knowledgeable but it just wreaks of arrogance unfortunately
What I suspect happened with Adkins is that he took the job on the understanding we would play a certain way and didn't have much say in his players. I think it was Kirk, but I recall when we signed a player, Adkins said he hadn't had a chance to speak with him yet. What this did was tied his hands behind his back and he didn't have the players to play how he was pressured into playing. So I don't actually blame him but he had to go as we were in a mess.
I firmly believe that the trick to being a successful owner of a club like ours is to find a good manager and support him. Murray did this, but when Curbs left, he created a new system that bypassed the manager. Maybe, the manager doesn't have to be a genius but the key is to support him. Curbs was a great manager but maybe it would work with a good manager. It worked with Powell.

I'm still getting over you said I listen to people in the park !
While Atkins was doing lovely walks, Warburton was working in football keeping abreast of players and his contacts. Nigel was doing motivation speeches away from football. Was he out of football as long as I thought, no he wasn't, but after hearing him on two Zooms he really wasn't coherent other than saying Watson was the best player in training.
A total insult to Curbs if you think he couldn't be a "director of Football" at Charlton. Beale would pick the team and dictate formations and Tatics. Curbs would be important in trying to stop the fans, critics deserting in their thousands and being the conduit with the Sandgaards.
JFH was a poor player for us as we got him too late. Irrelevant to his ability as a manager. Would he be my choice? No, but he's done a decent job at Burton on a tiny budget.
Martin Sandgaard can't be manager as you need badges these days. He ain't got them.
Thomas very unlikely to appoint a woman IMHO because, among many reasons he's, by his own admission, not PC or woke, meaningless and overused as those words now are. See "Ladies" team

Would make for a car crash season on here for sure.

No, seriously, we got the wingers for his formation, hes got the style, worked with a tit of an owner before.
Give him a proper budget and some decent players, will be intereting to see what he could do. We´ll be the league one Realcitonapool!

Would start as a Saturday morning football pannel and end as a late night chat show.
Unless someone within Charlton has made TS aware it would not be a popular move.
As if that lazy fuck would have been running anywhere

Whether they have found someone and they have agreed to come I don't know.

No.

Cawley coming out and saying that would suggest that the search is getting down to the nitty gritty and hopefully, we have an appointment soon.
