Also stacks up with reports that he didn’t want to pay for better quality loanees last year. Hence the signings of Nile John and Castillo who weren’t good enough to play.carly burn said:
Really wouldn't be surprised. Jackson took an age to sign his and look at the caveats that were involved there.Clem_Snide said:Anyone considered that Garner isn't happy with the money being offered and that is the delay? #justsaying
Will Sandgaard ever learn that hiring a football manager is a little different to hiring a replacement for Kevin in Medical product development and sales?0 -
BOOM !!Airman Brown said:Chris Powell isn’t going to work for Thomas Sandgaard, Rich Cawley hasn’t made a mistake re Garner and the reason I know about MS attempting to make a change to training is because the professionals were incredulous.
10 pages of wrangling between a few lifers all cleared up in a jiffy.1 -

Joined Orpington FC when I was about 17 and went to pre season and it was announced that team was folding. My school mate who got me there was from Anerley and his old man I think got fed up with negotiating the traffic making the borough wide trip each midweek.
As it was on my doorstep I went home and mentioned it to my old man and bizarrely he took it on and later on went to run it quite successfully.
Great I thought I would get regularly games and up front given daddy was manager. I recruited a load of old school mates and general riff raff from Orpington and we had a decent side come the start if the season.
Problem was my dad didn't bloody pick me from day one and I spent most of the season smoking on the sidelines hoping to get 5 minutes which very rarely came.
What you experienced Rodney wasn't Nepotism; it was meritocracy !2 -
Can’t be bothered lol0

Football fans get very precious about their clubs. Anyone buying any business has the right to start to question his managers in all sections of the business when it’s obvious things are not working. Substitute any type of business for Charlton Athletic Football Club and the owner or his son who is appointed by the owner should question what’s going on when week in week out the product is not up to scratch. You can argue about qualifications to make those suggestions but CAFC has been a slow plodding club and new owners want that turned around. Its not a surprise things have gone down the toilet because of the years of dodgy owners. It’s why I favour a total clear out of coaching staff and a new regime installed. I don’t blame TS one bit for sticking his oar in.KBslittlesis said:
But it wasn’t working 🤷♀️Airman Brown said:Anyone who thinks that having the owner’s unqualified son in a position of authority in the football set-up is remotely sensible is clearly capable of any mental gymnastics necessary to believe what they want to believe. It’s the same delusional thinking which has sought to justify the spivs, Duchatelet and ESI. It doesn’t of itself make Thomas Sandgaard the same as any of those, but it’s unlikely to be a good thing.
We all want things to be better and to get out of this shitty division, but we are here because of a succession of toxic owners, not toxic fans. As long as the club continues to fail there will be people looking for explanations. They are not the problem. So it was continuing to fail………with or without the input of any owner or son.
JJ was asked to step up, along with all his colleagues and they couldn’t deliver.
Are you saying that’s TS & MS fault too?
I genuinely want to know what you think or know.
I’m more than gutted it didn’t work for JJ but something wasn’t right.12 -
I am sorry but that's wrong. Thomas said he does, others have said he does.JamesSeed said:
While I agree with much of this I think it’s highly unlikely that MS will affect training methods or recruitment in any significant way, or even try to.Airman Brown said:Anyone who thinks that having the owner’s unqualified son in a position of authority in the football set-up is remotely sensible is clearly capable of any mental gymnastics necessary to believe what they want to believe. You’d hope so anyway. Unless you’re saying that’s already happening?
Edit: ‘the reason I know about MS attempting to make a change to training is because the professionals were incredulous.’
Oh. But incredulous in the sense they said ‘you’ve got a nerve mate 😂!’ or do we feel they felt threatened or imposed upon? I’d be surprised if it’s the latter, but if it is… different story.1 -
Not sure why Richmond have started stipulating "meat-free". They've always been made of sawdust.seth plum said:

I’d be surprised if it’s the latter, but if it is… different story. But there’s a difference between having some input and genuinely trying to run the show, for example by overruling Gallen when it comes to transfer targets, and trying to dictate training methods. Would be surprised if it’s the latter, but if it is, then we have a problem.0 -
If anyone outside of our small community actually gave a fuck about us, we would make a brilliant soap opera, or perhaps a 8 part mini series on fuckwittery in a lower league football club.6

I must admit the failure to announce a Manager by now is for me a cause for concern, I do not think anything is being delayed so a big announcement can be made once the owner gets here, we aint Real Madrid lol the fact is we are in danger of being well behind the pace if something isnt sorted very soon.
The other stuff people are ranting about is now getting laughable imo.
Owner says things need to ramp up in training shocker !!! To be honest after the last couple of years watching the team if I owned it the coaches wouldnt have a job anyway. I'm glad the owner has asked them to change things and anyone who thinks everything was great is mental.
It's the same old grumbling from the same old people who just want everything to stay the same and the only people who can be relied upon are either past players, past managers or past CEO's and they think Andrew Barclay is going to step up and bankroll their dreams. Not happening folks.
We should be concerned about the delay yes but should also look at the work going on at the club that's positive in terms of investment and structural improvements. When Cawley announced Garner there was almost a total WTF attitude on here but now there is meltdown incase he doesnt come, it's very strange 🤭🤭

I mean, I guess a pound shop version of a bloke who took a team with a comparatively small budget to within seconds of a Champions League final probably would be about a League One level manager no?Swisdom said:My brother in law claims Ben Garner is a "pound shop Ten Haag"
All because I compared Garner to the new Ipswich gaffer
God I hope this works out.....if it ever bloody happens
I'm genuinely intrigued as to why you think Carrick would be a good appointment.1 -

Reckon I'd be incredulous if I was performing that shit, the govnors son felt the need (or was told) to have a word with my immediate manager.0
