I thought he’d get a L1 loan but the main thing is he gets regular game time in a team who play a similar way. Looks like they’ve continued playing 3-5-2 as they did last season when Asiimwe was there.

Us going up probably helps him. In L1 he often ended up as too good to be loaned out, but not good enough to regularly start for us.

Even if he doesn’t make it with us this should help him develop to be sold on. Will be interesting to compare how he does in with Dixon, I see them competing to be next in line for the TC/Tanto role.

Good move for him. He doesn’t have the technical ability for the Championship, but if he finds the net in League Two, he might just hold his own at a League One club.
  • Good move, should get loads of minutes and hopefully he really does well and scores a lot of goals for them.  Would love to see him a success at Charlton. I really liked the storey of him training on his own as extra in Charlton Park one of the fans mentioned on here a couple of years back. Proper dedication.

It feels a bit below his level,  BUT if he can prove this by being a L2 cheat code,  that will do him the world of good.

I'd say L2 is about his level right now tbh

Totally agree — it’s up to him now to prove a few of us wrong.

Presumably, NJ must have thought that going to the Wombles might not have given him the necessary guaranteed minutes on the pitch?

Either that, or as mentioned before, it's all about giving the lad confidence.

He is a very talented lad, so I think he will succeed, given time.  He's still young and he has the potential to be a genuine goal-machine IMHO.

And before anyone asks or infers, Daniel has gone to Walsall to get game time and develop his raw talent, not because the evil Welsh fellow upset him.

I'm not sure he's ready for regular L1 football. He struggled to impact games with any regularity at that level, so L2 sounds like a good move.

Lovely , keen interview. How do you think Kanu will get on Scoham?

Comes over as a well grounded guy in that interview, so should fit in and achieve his aims this season, Good luck at Walsall Daniel...be good to see you back at Charlton next season hopefully...

He should score goals in L2, I'd hope he at least gets into double figures. I'm sure they'll like him for his work rate and pressing too.

Personally if we stay in championship don’t think DK has a future at Charlton … Walsall are a decent club for him they will be challenging at the top .

  • Top man DK hope ya smash it in the Walsall shirt & see ya back at the Valley ripe & ready when the time comes…👍

No room for sentiment but seeing that interview really wants me to see him achieve at Charlton. We really do have some very nice grounded kids/blokes at out club.

He got 6 in 30 league appearances in 23/24 as an 18/19 year old - I think he’s more than good enough to be playing league 1 football.

Spun away from his marker, poked it passed another defender and ran into the box before slotting home a low shot across the keeper.

Going to be interesting to compare Kanu, Mbick and Dixon over the season with them all playing at the same level.

He’s too good for league 2 - should have been a league 1 loan. Apparently can’t even be recalled and loaned up a league because he’s already played for us this season.

Silly for the sake of 30 mins in a cup we don’t even take seriously!

Willing to put my savings on Kanu scoring 15 this season if he stays fit.

Mbick you wouldn’t expect too much from considering it’s his first proper experience of men’s football and will likely be cover for Tovide.

Dixon will probably be in between the two in terms of impact with a couple of goals and assists

    Was just thinking the same.
Of the 3 of them I personally think Mbick has the highest ceiling.
This season we should learn a lot about all 3 of them.

I'd forgotten about that rule. Great for Walsall though, as it's unlikely we'd recall him to use him ourselves this season
