He’s had one injury, any player could get it. Isn't Browne a midfielder and I would have thought a long term prospect if we do sign him.supaclive said:Gunther, Matthews, Kirk, Soare, Davison. I'm not sure Browne is the answer. Chuks has already scored 1 in 2 starts, played a full ninety minutes twice (got booked twice) and is first choice currently.
Browne needs to be a first choice option and available on a permanent at the end of the season or aren't we just bringing in another short term option, who on paper, and injury record, doesn't look like he's going to massively improve what we already have....
If we are looking short term, isn't Defoe more valauble to us until the end of the season, than Browne?...0 -
Judging from the highlights reel a big part of his game is pace, I wonder if his recent ACL injury will have an effect on that.1

I also like the way he reads the game, his anticipation and awareness of what's going on around him; and composure.
He seems like a player who believes in his own abilities.
We've seen him only on Youtube - but Jacko will have been well aware of Browne at Oxford a few years ago.2 -

Hopefully he’s fully recovered and the same player as before. Not often I’d say this but when you see these comments a loan with an option certainly feels safer

Agree with this, however by the time he gets fully up to speed how much game time would he actually get this season. And if he did happen to do well would he be happy to play in L1 thereafter. A gamble either way but in balance a short term permanent deal may suit us better.1 -

He looks a good technical player with a turn of pace. My only concern (more so than his injury or taking a punt in him as a permanent signing) is his position. We definitely need cover for Lee, we did before his form dropped off, and Lee is out of contract in the summer. My question with Browne is, can he play in a midfield three (though Jacko could push him further forward and switch to a 3-4-1-2) in League One?
Basically, I hope it's not another Kirk situation, signing a good player who is available, but one who doesn't fit the system or who we don't have the right support for. I'm more than happy to be wrong on this. Just want to make sure we're getting it right as he'll probably command a fee and decent wages and we don't need another right footed left winger if it turns out that's where he's most comfortable.0 -
I don't disagree with any of that but it took JFC more than 2 years to become the player he was. Maybe Browne is close already, maybe he isn't.DubaiCAFC said:

I like the signing if we can wrap it up.
Proven top league one player who is at a good age to get better and hopefully grow with us.
I understand he has had a bad injury but think due to our record we are oversensitive to that.

Not sure we should be looking at yet another player with major injury concerns. We have enough of them already. Good player at his best, but this is a big gamble, and a gamble I don't think we should be taking.0

Neither was JFC injury prone until he did his ACL, then a year of muscle injuries, then did it again. He isn't injury prone but has basically missed 3 seasons.Clarky said:

From what I can gather, it's not so much that he's injury prone in the same sense as Inniss (picking up lots of niggles) but rather that it's one rather serious injury that could have multiple complications in the medium term.Clarky said:

Although I've not got first hand experience it also seems possible that he's going to face a bit of a psychological wall where he is (potentially) fearful of going all out for risk of a recurrence.1 -
Wont be as much activity next summer at this rate if they are indeed Perm transfers. Will we finally get to the stage where is not a wholesale change each time?8

Surely with something like this you have to put your trust in your medical team ? if they have assessed the player and give the green light then it nothing more to be said. Good player, good age, whats not to like ?13
