Finally after 4 defeats I now seen a win . I think before today we had lost 8 50 over or more finals but that has been laid to rest. The fielding was the difference and some of the catches

Kent's fielding was superb yesterday, and a shame Evison grounded that catch, what a bizarre incident that luckily didnt cost us the match with Finch and wearing the keepers glove.
  • Options
    Thourghly enjoyed yesterday's game.
The difference between the two teams was the catching.
    Lancashire kept spilling chances.
    Kent kept taking theirs.
    Well done  🍺🍺

    Kent & Bexley winning.
    Superb.
Just wish a couple of family members were still around to see it.
    Brilliant 🤩

I’ve had the most fantastic day rounded with a few beers in the VAT & Fiddle!
I had a quick pint there. It was filling up with punks when I left  :D
I saw them too, my lad nearly lost an eye to someone who looked like Vivian from the Youngs Ones!

Well we're on our way to New Road as Seb is one of a number of players from around the country to trial for Worcester - at least five of his mates from the DLCA will be there too. Sad but that is the reality of his situation. Who knows what will or would have happened at Kent had he not taken a couple of years off from keeping to concentrate on his batting  but that can't be undone and for the purpose of the trial he is going as a keeper/batsman. Whatever happens, he still has to start put consistent scores in the book as it is that aspect of his game that he needs to improve - as one coach at Kent bluntly put it "Seb's a great looking player that doesn't score enough runs". On that basis, he's an England opener in the making!!!
Please give our best wishes to young Seb & hope he achieves what he's aiming for sooner rather than later.

Thanks for the update & please keep them coming.

Hope you both have a good day.

The Darren Lehmann Cricket Academy in Adelaide. Seb and 24 other lads from the UK were there from October to March.

Squad for tomorrow's big game -  15 potential players in total are missing or have not been considered:

Cox (in Pakistan with England), Stevens, Milnes, Billings, O'Riordan, Linde and Stewart (all injured), Saini and Henry (unavailable due to overseas commitments), CrawleyDenly, Logan and Singh (all for reasons unspecified) plus Blake and Klaassen (white ball contracted only). The ones that puzzle are Crawley and Denly?

    McKerr
included in 12 as is Finch (who was originally contracted for Royal London only). One imagines that, in Denly's absence, Qadri will play and one of the five seamers will be ommitted but, whatever the final XI, it is a fact that our tail will start at 8:

Jordan Cox has been signed by the Sunrisers Eastern Cape in the inaugural auction for the CSA T20 League. This is great news for him following his elevation to the England T20 squad but could mean trouble for Kent if the same franchise chooses to bid for him in the IPL - that comp doesn't finish 'til early June.

From a wider perspective, the ultimate aim of the ECB is to sell the existing Hundred franchises. Roll on the London Sunrisers. I can't wait!!!

Some strange absences there. Denly looked healthy enough as he collected the trophy and went around shaking hands and chatting with the supporters.

Also interesting that Evison is playing a CC match as his original loan was just for the 50 over cup

Evison's loan has been extended to include this match - not sure if that will apply to the final match. No mention of the reason for Denly's absence on the Kent official preview of the game or an explanation as to why Crawley isn't playing either. We really could do with them both.

Sounds like an absolute pig's ear.

Starting to wonder what's the point in having a county side.

For the benefit of clarification - Denly is on paternity leave and Crawley has not been released by the ECB.

Unless I've got something drastically wrong here, Crawley doesn't have an England game until the beginning of December. He's had two Hundred games and a three day Test match in the last month so, why would England not want a top order batsman to get some innings before then and to build his confidence. Unless they and he are afraid that a failure or two would have the opposite affect? It does make one wonder what the point was of giving him another contract especially at a time when we need to put out the best possible side and he is given Papal Dispensation not to play.

We have no front line spinners in the team as we left Qadri out. Meanwhile, at Folkestone, our 2s are batting against Yorkshire who have, after just nine overs, two spinners bowling in tandem. Cricket is a funny old game!

I have heard Cox is also off as well as Robinson …. Not from a reliable source though. When does his contract run out ?

Meanwhile Sean Dickson, who has been at Durham since he left us in 2020, has just signed a three year contract with Somerset as he wished to move further south to be with his family. Will history repeat itself in a few years time with a certain player, hopefully with us being the county of choice?

I heard something similar (to Hants) and like you it doesn't come from a reliable source but Cox has another year left on his contract, the same as Robinson who was allowed to leave because my understanding is that his contract had a clause which stipulated that he had to play a certain number of games and that wasn't fulfilled. So unless Cox has a similar stipulation or can persuade Kent to release him then he still has a year to run. Of course, with no announcement of a contract extension, the writing is on the wall for the end of next season anyway.

And Finch goes first ball. 32-5 and a 3rd wicket for Abbot. Where are Denly and Crawley when you need them?
