I am pretty sure there is a mayoral election in May.
Judging by what happened in the by-election in Uxbridge the ULEZ issue might be a bit of a factor, I personally believe the people who damage the camera infrastructure are antagonistic towards the present mayor for another reason beyond money.

    what reason is that?

We heard the explosion from Welling. Drove past the van in that video a few days later after the road had reopened and it was proper fucked. If that van hadn't been there and anyone had been in the path of the debris they would be dead. Whoever is responsible is an absolute moron and needs to be locked up.
They arrested a couple of men from miles away, 60 & 61 years old. They must be seriously unhinged, assuming they did it. At their age, if convicted they are never going to pay a congestion  or ULEZ charge again in their lives. Causing explosions you normally quite righty have the keys thrown away.
There should be some legal repercussions for whoever 'radicalised' these scumbags too.

Loaded phrase or not, men in their early 60's don't suddenly decide, off their own back, to start making IED's and using them on our streets.
    Radicalised- behave
As a new poster can I take this opportunity to offer you a lovely warm welcome to Charlton Life.
    Thank you Sir

London mayor's has announced he is freezing Transport for London (TfL) fares until March 2025 as part of a £123m investment in the capital's transport services.
    https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-london-68020031
Is there an election for the Mayor's office later this year?
    Explains why he's keeping ULEZ.
But didn’t we say yesterday ULEZ funds are invested in greener buses etc?
Definitely worth keeping then. Likewise the free meals at Primary schools.

The view from Shooters Hill on Tuesday. In the past the buildings would have been covered in a haze. Tell me ULEZ isn't working.
    Heat haze? not appropriate tuesday
    Used to be vehicle fumes.

I think knife crime is also a sad statistic and policing more generally are issues he will be criticised for.
Police numbers have been cut, and police stations closed down - by central government. Recent recruits aren’t capable at this stage of replacing the experienced officers that were cut.
Youth centres have been closed, the Sure Start scheme was shut down. Poverty has increased. The gap between rich and poor has increased massively.
I’m not sure you can pin the blame for any of this on Khan. The Tories need to start taking responsibility for their actions over the last 14 years. Actions have consequences.
Wont mean he doesn't get tarred with that brush / be considered accountable was my point

Do you know any serving police officers or ones who have just retired?

Ask them for their opinion on Khan.

Ps I'm totally with you that the Teresa May is also very much to blame for the mess we are now in thinking she could get rid of 20,000 experienced officers without consequences.
The only one I do know (left a year ago) has no problem with him at all. I can’t imagine too many officers are all that enamoured of Tory policy in this area after their numbers were decimated though. Khan’s efforts to clean up the police service of course won’t be popular with a section officers.

I didn’t say he won’t be blamed unfairly. That’s sort of my point. The next mayoral election will give an indication on that.

That's asked/answered in the BBC link. I'm sure if he increased fares you would be full of praise.
  • I expect Khan to breeze through the Mayoral election. The opposition seem to not be bothered fighting him.

I also think you can praise free school meals or attempts to build more council houses whilst also criticising other policies.

Boris was more interested in vanity projects like the ‘Garden Bridge’ unfortunately.

I don’t think that behaviour led to cleaner air for the population.
    Whereas Khan is f*cking everyone.

So did Harold (for those of a certain age).

    Eh?

    happy that fares are frozen.

If it’s business rates paying then fine.

my original concern remains that ULEZ may be a cash drain in the short term.
