[cite]Posted By: Addickted[/cite]It was this season that we were shown live on Danish TV for the first time.

    Why?

    Jacobsen and Ostergaard?

OK smart arse who made their 400th appearance in that game? :-)

Methinks Addickted is on a wind up with that one!

  • Can I have a go? I was there and vaguely remember some sort of celebration amongst the Bubble Blowers and we joined in the applause 'cos he's a nice bloke is Trev. Didn't Gritty get the winner?
  • Keithy Peacock?

Have now got home and it would appear, according to Colin Cameron's excellent tome, that it wasTrevor Brooking's 400th. appearance for them. Going for a lie down now!
  • our point v Preston means that we now have more points from 39 games than we got on 79/80 from 42 games. Was 2 points for a win then youngsters so the 22 points then equates to 28 now.

28 points from 42 games = 1.5 points per game

29 points from 46 games = 1.56 points per game

    Carry on.

Think your points per game maths is a bit wrong there, H - we wouldn't be in this sh*t if we'd been getting 1.5 points per game...

    That's 1.5 games per point isn't it?
    28/42 = 2/3 or 0.67
    29/46= 0.63
    0.67 * 46=30.8
So we need another two points overall to better that season.
  • 1.5 points per game would put us on 59 points for this season so far and a nice 8th place...

    No wind up Len.

It wasn't Les Berry but indeed that stalwart of English football, Mr Trevor Brooking.
  • D'Oh!

Sorry, slight balls up on the calculator front ; - )

Oh for 1.5 points per game this season.

Wibble, that's what I meant to say. Two more points it is and both coming v Norwich
  • I was Born on the day of the home defeat to Fulham.. Charlton 0-1 Fulham 08-04-1980
  • being 14 years old standing in the chicken run at Westham last game of the season in my Charlton scraf with a Westham mate and his Dad and losing 4-1 I think it was. (just before they played in the cup final)
  • When was it we got relegated? I seem to remember Easter - an away game?

That match made Saturday's game against Preston seem exciting.

There was only 5,000 or so there and it was completely dead.

Times are hard now but we've had worse believe it or not...

Not sure but something tells me we had a blank Saturday and other results sent us down with about 4 or 5 games to go. That Fulham game was a real horror, about 4000 there (in 2009 this would be quoted as 16000), it was so quiet you could hear the players talking to each other.
  • [cite]Posted By: Henry Irving[/cite]Walsh played 7 league games that 79/80 season.

I should have remembered that because I went to his debut game!!

  • We have now done better on a points per game basis this season than 79/80.

What a relief and remember the next time someone says "Worst Charlton team ever. Terminal decline" you can say "not as bad as 79/80 and we bounced straight back from that one"

    LLL & BH
  • Well that's a relief, eh Henry?

And there was me thinking that we're shit!
    ;o)

Maybe but not as shit as the team with Walsh and Hales
  • Not as shit as Henry's maths either ;-)
