  • Awful weekend for Arsenal.

Spurs win 5-1 and go 4th. They lose 3-0. Tierney potentially out for the season, Partey off injured as well.

They didn't spend in January as by the end of the window they only had the league to concentrate on. They've gambled with a small squad and now it looks like it's going to come back to bite them.
  • Not sure what is more alarming, Palace doing well or you lot watching it live on TV.

Saw the quote and thought you were talking about us for a moment there John....then read that you had wrote it so all good, yes a good result for Spurs.

it seems the worse we get, the better they get....Beating Arse 3-0 was not even much of a shock... :(

  • People were saying it would be formality with Arsenal's recent form, I was a bit weary if Arsenal dont turn up Palace win. Not to take it away from Palars, just felt they would get something if Arsenal wasn't on it.

    Palace aren't doing that great.

Before tonight's win, they'd won the same amount of games as Everton.

The FA cup is a potential problem!

But, on paper, it is a very unlikely problem.

Chelsea will need to be at their best.
Oh mate, let's step back and recap.

They've just thrashed an Arsenal team that was itself in good form; prior to that they had held Man city to a draw having won up there earlier in the season; in the last round of the cup, they annihilated an Everton team and now have a cup semi final at Wembley to look forward to - and they must have a good chance of turning over a Chelsea team who have just lost to Brentford and are in turmoil following Abramovic's departure. Oh and they had 3 players in the England team last week.

Apart from that I agree things don't look too rosy for them at the moment.

Decent result for us.  We're just beginning to see Conte's stardust taking effect now.  Was a bit underwhelmed when they joined but the signings of Bentancur (who looks like we've finally found a competent replacement for Dembele) and Kuluveski look absolutely inpsired now.

4 very winnable games coming up then Dippers away and Arsenal at home.

Arsenal have got some dodgy fixtures but depends how West Ham go in the Europa.  If they beat Lyon and get to the semi against Barcelona, the Arsenal game is between the two legs.

It will go to the wire.
  • Sickening. Viera is a massive part of it, as players will want to come and play under him. Need a big club to try and snap him up ASAP.

Our current status as the sole winners of an FA Cup in South London might be coming to an end Im afraid.

Still we've got Wimbledon away tomorrow, and another season in the third tier to look forward to.
Not sure you’re aware of this but there’s another south London club who have won the FA Cup and they won it much more recently than Charlton have. The answer is in your own post.
AFC Wimbledon didnt win the FA Cup and Wimbledon FC dont exist anymore. At present, that means we are the sole winners still standing.
  • A bigger problem for palace could be if there main backers are Chelsea’s preferred new owner. Let’s hope so.

just the 13 behind Arsenal then in South London FA Cup wins.
  • Burnley take a deserved lead v Everton.
been one way traffic in the opening 12 minutes
  • Very cool penalty from Richarlison
  • I have never been one for referee bashing but am I the only one who thinks that second penalty award is absolutely scandalous?

There is the slightest contact and he throws himself down like he's been hauled to the floor. An absolutely embarrising decision.

Unfortunately referees have created this stigma where if a player doesnt go down the decision doesnt get looked at - Its a penalty as Lennon catches his leg and is no where near the ball - That in no way gets reviewed if Richarlison doesnt go to ground.

Its a contact Sport but not sure where it says you can make contact with someone like that without getting the ball.
  • Commentator doing my nut in. Not even a good penalty but banging on about how cool he was.

Mike Riley said at the start of this season:

'Contact on its own is only part of what the referee should look for; consider consequence and the motivation of the player as well."

Did that touch by Lennon really cause the player to go to the ground?

Not blaming the player on this occasion as of course he's going to go to ground to try and win a penalty, but there is no way that contact impeded his progress whatsoever or took him off his feet.

Someone disagrees. Come on, own up 😉

  • Oh.  Mike Dean, the Wirral-based referee (for Wirral, read Red & Blue Bin Dipper Territory just the other side of the River Mersey) referreing an important game involving one of the Bin Dipping clubs?  Again?

    Well I never.

Its an absolute joke how this is allowed to happen.

Yes, he plays the 'Tranmere' card but he has never given a decision in favour of London clubs against the Dippers.

But then a foul isn't reliant on a player being unable to stay on their feet

Would be curious to see if diving became reduced if referees started to give fouls where players are fouled yet dont go to ground - We're at the stage now though, where I dont think a player will take the risk of staying upright if they feel they've been fouled - You even hear Managers these days in post match interviews: "He should have gone down", "He was too honest"
  • Its a great game though
  • What are Burnley doing..  ? Someone tell them they aren't Barca & to just get the ball forward !!  tippy tappy football has no place in a match between 2 relegation threatened teams.
  • There's more holes in Burnley's defence than a slice of swiss cheese.

A Charlton defence must look like a door after its taken a few heavy rounds to it then ;)
  • Be really interesting to see what Dyche ends up doing if Burnley do go down.

His track record has surely earnt him another Premier League job but then you always wonder if fans will just label him a long ball merchant and want a more high profile name.

  • Ooooohhhhh Everton in trouble
  • Ouch, draw didnt suit either team - But that really doesnt suit Everton
