Give Dobbo a pint of unicum, that will do the trick. As an aside I offered Mrs Kips some unicum last night, but she said she'd rather go Hungary.KingKinsella said:
Know idea about the song but totally agree that we need to lift Dobbo's spirits and give him wholehearted support, we can't guess his state of mind but vocal support can only help.Nadou said:

Now, IF Andy is an honourable bloke and IF he wants to continue working in this "field" , might I respectfully suggest he considers falling on his sword before this issue escalates.Chris_from_Sidcup said:Those quotes to me sound like another nail in the coffin for Andy Scott. He's basically all but said 'i overruled him'.
Too many questions at present & not enough clarity.
Surely, having our new manager in the firing line at his pre match interview ( which he handled superbly as we knew he would) won't cut the mustard .
And sooner or later, Dobbo's position will need clarification....
Once again, I'd urge all the home fans there tomorrow night to be loud & proud in their support of our captain & leave him in NO doubt whatsoever that his place and his future is here, wearing the red shirt.
Suggestion for a song "won't you stay just little bit longer" Jackson Browne- tight trousers needed for the high parts14 -

Agreed, we have overpaid. There has never been a point where I thought T Watson was better than Dobbo. He could have created that point with his performances but he hasn't. I would be insulted if I was Dobbo and he was getting more than me.Callumcafc said:
The thing about Tennai and others is that if they don’t make any sort of improvement the next contract offer they’ll get from Charlton will be worth £0 p/w.northstandsteve said:I met Dobbo's Dad walking out of Wycombe last season, a nice bloke who wanted to talk about the game and players performances, I know people who were out with him in Blackpool after the game a few weeks ago, so as a parent who follows his son around the country, and knows from doing this how instrumental he is to us, I am fine with him voicing his opinion. He knows his son's worth at this club and he if can see his son not being offered reasonable terms compared to a lot of the shit wearing the shirt then fair effing play. Those players “earned” that first contract offer from us based on how they performed at their previous clubs. Second contract offers come based on how you perform at your current club.
We’ve overpaid some players on their first contract, clearly. That’s pissed off a better performing player in our squad, evidently. We’ve created problems for ourselves over multiple ownership groups.3 -

Agree with that, but if T Watson, in particular, is on more than Dobbo, Dobbo is well within his rights to be a bit miffed, regardless of when contracts were signed.Callumcafc said:

Would've thought that one of these many Directors of this or that in this current SMT might've pulled the likes of Dobbo aside and improved his remuneration, as soon as these new and untested players started coming in on more dough.
Edit* You got the likes of Dobbo and May who are likely to end up being part of the fixtures and fittings and who'll run through brick walls for the club, and they see these "journeyman" players like T Watson coming in on more dough.3 -

Like the likes of David Speedie and Andy Ritchie back in the day. Also Jermain Wright and bit more recentlyLurker said:

Without knowing the exact figures it's hard to judge the wages issue completely fairly. Whatever and whoever is to blame for the whole mess with Dobson and his offer, throwing T Watson under the bus was a dick move.
We were the ones who made the offer to him. It seems extremely unlikely that he would have known what Dobson was on or would have judged his own wage relative to that figure. If he IS being paid more than Dobson that is a mistake BUT not one he made.
And if Watson IS being paid too much then it doesn't automatically follow that the answer is to overpay someone else to make it "fair" - then the whole squad ends up on inflated wages.
Again it does really come down to what exactly was offered.5 -

What will annoy me most is if dobbo was fit these past 2 games but wasn’t played due to wanting to sell him and then pulled the plug on it. Like not sacking Appleton before Northampton the board are costing us points time after time.7

I've known many and most are as you describe, Rob. There are some exceptions, but I knew anyway ;-)

Well because I wanted you to see the standard and atmosphere of a typical HU game. I have never seen one, mind, but I am very confident that its much like a similar Czech game. I’ve had some fantastic Euro nights in Plzen watching Viktoria beating Napoli or Dinamo Zagreb and a few tasty ones when they play Sparta or Slavia. But when you go along to a typical league game, fuck me it is dire. The atmosphere, ( lack of) the old stadia, and on the pitch the schoolboy defending and often couldn’t give a fuck attitude .. well, you will miss the Valley and you will understand why this guy, an equally fervent supporter of Budapest Honved and Luton Town (when Nathan was in charge) tweeted this about the Dobbo moveBraziliance said:

obviously I don’t know how you are fixed for time and money, but you can get cheap flights and decent accomm in Budapest between now and a bit before Easter. Yes, go
and take in an NB1 game but not a big derby involving Ferencvaros. Maybe Ujpest against a club from outside the capital. And vlog that. Based on my 30 years of trying and failing to love the Czech league, I think you will find it an eye-opener.
Why not a big game out of interest?
My plans atm are a Celtic game (my mate at work is a season ticket holder), the Eternal Derby in Bucharest (my best mate lives in Bucharest and finally a Galatasary game (again two Turkish mates, one of which supports Gala).
Definitely quite keen to travel and do some vlogs along the way.
https://x.com/djgabyg/status/1756572218937504162?s=61&t=oKpEK5xuwukoPQ-YsizesQAnd the thing is yes, Dobbo might get to play in Europe, but 90% of the time he’’ll be playing in front of 3,000 with players whose body language makes Scott Fraser look like Billy Bremner. (And those players will look 200% better if they play in a Europa League game the following Wednesday) .If you have that experience you’ll understand why some of us have good reason (and not just ignorance or insularity) to wonder whether its a good career move for Dobbo, regardless of the money.
I sincerely hope you stay as a poster on here (and a very welcome one), irrespective of whether or not George ends up in Hungary.

I don't think that was in doubt, I can't believe anyone bought the story about him having a calf strain. Did CBT play in the two games before he was sold ? It may do the current owners and their senior managers some good if they stopped treating the fans like idiots, give Curbs a ring and he'll probably give you some guidance on how to do it.Red_Chester said:What will annoy me most is if dobbo was fit these past 2 games but wasn’t played due to wanting to sell him and then pulled the plug on it. Calf strain for Corey Blackett-Taylor you may can get away with but George Dobson doesn't miss games unless he breaks a leg, is suspended or dropped.
The last time he was dropped was by Nadkins !2 -

Just to put even more onus on it, CBT I believe missed Burton and Peterborough, Dobson, Derby and Reading. I don't think maximum points were available but lets just say we managed just four, it would put us sixteenth, just ahead of Cambridge, further proof, if any were needed, at what a complete cock Andy Scott actually is.soapboxsam said:Calf strain for Corey Blackett-Taylor you may can get away with but George Dobson doesn't miss games unless he breaks a leg, is suspended or dropped.

Haven’t seen it mentioned but towards the end he was going over to take a corner on our left and really got the covered end going. His passion really showed and the covered end rewarded him. Let’s enjoy the last few months of him while we can24

            Really missed Coventry didn't we?
Almost like that signing was completely pointless and should've been spent on an attacking midfielder instead.15
