  • Nice of Cody to step aside and let a young man have his chance in the main event of WM.

In no scenario can you allow your number 1 baby face be doing favours like that for other wrestlers. Still think there’s twist in the storyline and it will eventually see The Rock turn heel
  • So is Cody wrestling Seth instead? Or is he just not wrestling at all? I don't get it
  • I’m happy to just watch it play out, as it seems like they’ll tease different things each week. Though Rock vs Reigns does feel too big to not go ahead with.

The Cody thing is interesting. HHH’s booking is in decent enough credit that I hope there will be some sort of plan/twist here.
  • They're hoping the 'Rock at Wrestlemania' headlines take over the Vince stuff.

Ain't gonna happen and this story is only going to get bigger and bigger.
  • Reigns Rock night 1, then Cody comes out and declares his pick for Wrestlemania is.... Reigns on Night 2?
  • Haven’t watched for years but keep an eye on it via socials. Why does Roman Reigns only actually wrestle once a year? What’s the point?

Obviously had his Leukaemia scare several years ago, which is probably a factor, but also he wanted more family time and didn't want to be on the road 24/7 so got the "Lesnar" schedule of turning up to talk once every 2/3 weeks and wrestle 6 or 7 times a year
  • Cool, didn’t know any of that.
  • Finishing the storyline only works if he goes for Reign's title, ignoring finishing the story by winning the NWA title at All In! Seth's title hasn't even been around for a year. The Rock v Roman is a blockbuster match, but not at the expense of their biggest face! Very strange.

The segment from Smackdown is WWE's most disliked video ever already! I wonder if they'll do a XXX and try and save the match by making it a three way, which can't feature Cody as they've already messed that up, or if they push ahead with it.

The Bailey segment was very good, also good to see Bron and Jade.

Then why have him as their champion?! The streak has lost a lot of meaning now that he's part-time. Even more reason why either Cody, Drew or Sami (in worse to best order) should have beaten him.

  • Jeez, think i'll be giving WWE a swerve for a while. How do i watch TNA?
  • Give it a few weeks and they'll be back to being LOLTNA
  • It's clear WWE are panicking right now, and they had 0 need to. They could have spun the story a different way and still got Reigns Rock and Cody finishing his story. Hell just say Cody wants both belts to determine who is the alpha male, have him breast Seth at WM and then take on Reigns at SS (who beats The Rock in the Head Of The Table Match)

Will feel like diminishing returns by the time he wins a second belt. If he ends the story, and Romans loses the streak, then they are both Wrestlemania main event worthy moments.

I think they just need to somehow find a way to get Cody back into this match with Reigns. My gut tells me they probably are working on that. The way the segment went on Friday night was partly designed to build sympathy/more support for Cody.

The big question is how do they get there. Like Sam Roberts says on his podcast - “just let them cook”
  • The whole thing is an angle to stop people talking about Vince and other WWE executives being involved in sex trafficking as recently as 2022. And the WWE culture that allowed such a thing to be so widespread and open within the company.

Guess it worked for some people.
  • WWE on Netflix next year then. Might have to start watching again.

It's going to be difficult to shoe horn Cody back into it when he explicitly stated be won't face Roman at 'maina.

Unifying the belts, which they've done 3 times already now, seems premature as it's not even a year old yet.

Raw didn't advance the story at all, but there's a press conference on Thursday, i wonder how long that was planned for?! Roman could call Cody a coward or what nlt and he can change his mind. Will be a three way with the ending of the story and head of the table not getting the shine they deserve but it gets them out of this mess.

You realise that the Cody “story” angle, and The Rock calling out Roman Reigns, happened before the recent Vince news?

And I assume you realise that wrestling involves storylines to try and get people’s attention? This isn’t something new. They usually try really hard with this in the 2-3 months leading up to their biggest event of the year…

There's going to be a multimillion dollar lawsuit. The papers aren't going to report on a wrestling storyline. I believe SELR is an AEW mark.

Cody winning the rumble despite The Rock and Roman Reigns already being booked for Wrestlemania is a decision made after the news though.

And Cody giving up his wrestlemania place leading to a WWE-led 'We want Cody' social media push? I wonder why that is? Is it to deflect from other WWE online discussions about other news stories?

No it's just a storyline, that would have been run with or without the Vince stuff being in the news.

I'm fairly sure a lot of people within wrestling would have been expecting a story like this to come out at some point, it was all about when it hit. I'm sure if VKM had passed away it would have all come out after that, like the Savile stories, but instead it's come out now and aside from him being removed from the board, I don't think WWE were going to acknowledge it in any way.

What do you want from them, to stop the longest running weekly episodic show in TV history because of it? Fat fucking chance

WWE speak is funny. In their universe that might be true. Guess the Simpsons doesn't exist then or Meet the Press.
  • TKO is floated on the NYSE. The allegations are far bigger and more serious than a wrestling show. It also seems to just be the tip of the iceberg.

A wrestling show where The Rock asked the audience if he should eat at the head of the table a month ago and hinted at the match on Little Rock.

The issue isn't the match, the issue is HHH undercutting it by allowing Cody to win the rumble anyway. Worst booking of the year sewn up for 2024 already.

    Simpsons isn't on every week.

Meet the press is described as news l, not an episodic TV show, so that's how they get around that.

I agree it's worded weirdly for them to be able to say it, but yeah they aren't stopping that steam train because of Vince's dirty laundry

No on this thread has said it's anything but a bad idea. The most positive comments are optimism that they undo thier mistake.

Roman v The Rock is a big match but needs a build up. Cody v Roman has had the build up and isn't getting the match! A three way doesn't satisfy anything. It's impressive how much they've screwed up something so sinple after doing all the hard work.

In the wrestling world the chatter might have shifted more onto the booking element of things, but to suggest it is all some conspiracy to deflect from the Vince allegations is a bit of a reach.

The Rock vs Roman has been touted as the main event for about a month now. You could even say that it’s an idea that has been floated a few years. Rock didn’t come out and say what he said on Raw a few weeks ago without there being some sort of vision of paying it off. And it’s absolutely a match many people want to see - it’s just unfortunate that it’s cutting the nose off of a great Cody build (or so we’re led to believe).

The mainstream media reported pretty hard on the Vince stuff. Enough so that casual fans and even people who aren’t fans at all could read about it. I don’t think those people are now being blindsided by a spell of convoluted booking for a PPV happening in 2 months’ time.

Had they REALLY been trying to deflect from the Vince stuff, then they’d have probably had a megastar like The Rock come in and win the Royal Rumble. That would have made headlines.
