The Kinks - Father Christmas. One that is actually underplayed!1

@bobmunro I cannot believe that you have put this in front of Bruces' version of "Santa Claus is comin' to town" which has to be worth the vote alone for Clarence's "you better be good for goodness sake", his Father Christmas like laughter but most of all his oh so identifiable sax solo! Oh that he was still with us.bobmunro said:I Believe in Father Christmas - ELP

I like Saint Etienne's (with Tim Burgess) I was born on Christmas Day, but then it's not really about Christmas

This is the problem. Even Décember is one twelfth of the year. I avoid them for all but a few days and so I still love them.thenewbie said:I don't mind Christmas songs in December. But when they are playing when Halloween shite is still on shelves it really does get me wound up!0 -

I was in my local Sainsbury's this week and the nice lady on the cash desk starting singing merry Xmas by Slade ....backwards.....she said she's sick of hearing it 10 times a day.0

Yes. Not only utter drivel but his voice grates sooooo much.Chippycafc said:Christmas time....by darkness yuk...1 -
Would be better if it was the original version......the one where it starts off with Bruce asking who's been good that year and after him (obviously not seeing many hands go up) saying "ah, not many, not many"Addick Addict said:

I agree with your broad sentiment but if you like that jonah lewie crap then you are beyond helpAshBurton said:My family is giving me grief because I have announced that I basically can’t stand the vast majority of Christmas songs. As soon as one comes on the radio, I start moaning and groaning like an old Scrooge.
So far I’ve admitted to liking only three Christmas songs ever made:
- Fairytale of New York by the Pogues and Kirsty MacColl (much discussed already this year)
- 2,000 miles by the Pretenders
- Stop the Cavalry by Jona Lewie
Surely there are some others out there. What am I missing? Or am I just being a miserable sod who should lighten up and sing along to Wham and Cliff Richard?0 -

The Greedies - A Merry Jingle, a proper rocking number

"I'm always touched by your presents, Dear"?1 -
I think you’re going soft in your old age or I’m worse than you. I can’t stand those three songs either.AshBurton said:My family is giving me grief because I have announced that I basically can’t stand the vast majority of Christmas songs.
