Might just be based on their starts this season but got a feeling Villa might actually do better than Sheffield United
Sheff Utd haven't spent much and will suffer from second season syndrome i think. I'd tip them to go down along with Fulham and west brom.
Villa have spent a lot but more importantly seem to have bought well, decent keeper, Cash, Watkins, Traore and now getting Barkley. They should finish mid table.

Still think Sheff Utd will spend big on 1/2. Brewster being linked for 20mil. They've strengthened their full back options but yeah there team hasn't actually improved because the only big buy they've made was Ramsdale who had to replace a big loss anyway. Need 2/3 minimum in order to compete I reckon.
Man Utd set to sign Cavani on a 2 year deal. Apparently paying his agent around €10m too!!
United fans don't appear to be overly pleased at this. He's 34 in February and they won't pay the extra money Porto want for left back Alex Telles, but will pay 10m to an agent.........for a guy who's been available on a free for months.

It's beyond belief really, the guy is without a club and has been for months. United are one of the biggest clubs in the world and he's 34 soon. He should be desperate to sign.
Why on earth would they feel the need to pay 10m to an agent just to sign him. It's not as if clubs are queuing up. He was linked with Benfica and Leeds about 6 weeks ago and both clubs ended up looking elsewhere.
Ignoring the agent fee, I don't think he's a bad signing for United. But only if they strengthen in other areas, another attacking player and defender or two.

Seems like a panic signing just to get a 'name' in. All summer they've wanted Sancho, a young, fast, wide player. They've also been linked with Dembele from Barca too. Now suddenly 2 days before the window closes they go for an old centre forward who they could've signed 2 months ago.
But i do agree he'll probably do ok and score a few.
So based on the ITK contacts from Spurs, Cavani was offered to Spurs 2 weeks ago.
He was asking for £175k a week to sign.
But also wanted another £175k a week for his agent, who is his brother.
So god knows what Utd have got themselves into.
Re Vinicius.
Interesting Benfica had set a €100m release clause and were still asking for €70m for him up to two weeks ago. As soon as Benfica went out the CL Levy went in for him. Benfica have got big financial worries and were keen to do a deal to get him off their payroll.
How Levy has negotiated an option to buy over an obligation to buy is anyone's guess.
Just need an experienced CB now. Apart from that, looks like all the holes in the squad have been filled now. Can be no more excuses for Jose. But to be fair, the football since the Everton farce has been decent.

Some interesting bits of information, thanks.
Spurs squad starting to look quite strong when you have everyone fit. Front three of Bale, Kane, and Son; with options of Lucas, Bergwjin, Lamela, and new signing Vinicius all capable too, you're right to say no excuses for Jose now.
Man Utd showing again how awful they are at negotiating and how desperate they are too. Makes me laugh and love it to continue. To pay the amount they do for either very average players or players who are getting too old and passed it, it's ridiculous, but if they continue doing it, it's also great to see in a way too.

Where’s that Kenneth Williams picture when you need it?

Sheff Utd have signed Brewster from Liverpool for 23.5m
