Charlton v Blackburn | Sat 15 Feb | 3pm KO | Post-match Thread

Not at the races today. We seemed to struggle to get ahold of the game and failed to threaten enough. If one of the second half chances had gone in we may have had a chance.

With a full Valley, we failed to step up.

Over to you.

Bad game, bad day. I'm just gonna be here to read the massive over reactions to getting beat by a better side.

Not as atrocious as at Stoke, but still pretty bad.
Nobody came out of that looking good.
  • Disappointing. Massive game next Saturday.

Really disappointing but feel like our season will mainly be decided next Saturday and against Wigan

    At the game.
    We were so so poor.
I was expecting a much better performance following our win on Tuesday but for whatever reason we were second best all game.
Beating Luton next week is an absolute must.
Despite today's performance I believe we will.
  • Thought Blackburn were decent and handled the conditions better. We were the better team second half when the conditions were on our side but never really looked we were ever going to score.

Would like us to play 4-4-2 more often. Just think we are a better side with 4 midfielders.

  • I expected more, but obviously should know better by now.
  • All games are winnable regardless of opponents or whether home or away. I think we will be fine and pick up some surprising results as well as losing some that we feel we should win.
    same for all teams.

    Last weekend...

    This weekend...

How did it look on Wednesday night?
  • Williams is the key to our season now for me. We are simply a different proposition with him in the team. Can someone please wrap him in cotton wool.

Poor performance but I thought McGeady looked good
  • Can't be playing Davis and Cullen together at home.

Blackburn were better than us, still their keeper did make some good saves but we just weren't good enough.

None of the new loanees impressed me, Pratley needs to be back in the side next week

Last week folk were saying we can’t play Pratley and Davis.

I feel like we play our best football as a whole when Oztumer plays.

I never thought I’d accuse a Bowyer team of a lack of effort but I’ll accuse that side. There was a lack of effort in defending and in showing for the ball. And a lack of application and concentration with play breaking down in key areas again and again because of sloppy control, a poor pass and nobody making the run. Lazy, sloppy performance.

Just watch the replay of McGeady for their second goal. He could not be arsed.

It wasn't good at all but our season won't be decided by the result against Blackburn,  it will be by those against Luton, Huddersfield, Boro, Wigan and possibly Hull, 3 of those are at home so must wins really, we will pick up the odd result away like Forest so win those 3 home games plus the odd point away and we will be ok.

I think Davis might be the problem here.

    What now?!
  • Blackburn the much better team and well deserved their win. No time wasting, diving or poncng about either. They toyed with us in the second half.

We were very lame and deserved exactly what we got. Bugger all.

Not sure what was achieved in the January window.

Smith and Davies look very average and McGeady looks like he was excellent in the 1970s.

Why not just pick our best 11 and give it everything ?

Understand the point you're making but not actually that much different. Only Huddersfield and Wigan got anything today and even then it was only draws.

Sounds like a really good game for Oztumer tbh
  • Football for a fiver performance. We rarely perform on these games. So frustrating after how well we played the other night.
  • Quite tragic how reference was frequently made to other scores during the match thread. Almost an acceptance that the teams future is not in their hands. Great transfer window from the Tweeter Deleter......
