Add my thanks to @Davo55 and @Curb_It for their hard work and all the time given to the cause. As there's over £4000 profit, could four causes get just over a grand each? The memorial garden, the Upbeats, the Museum and either Demelza or a cancer charity?
Even though I knew the protest fund had phenomenal support actually seeing the amount raised in black and white (excuse the pun) is amazing. Just confirms what we aready know about our supporters. Roland certainly underestimated the Charlton family.
Big thank you to Alan and Brenda (plus all the CARD, ROT, B20, WAR and others) who put in so much personal effort to help the cause of the early demise of RD.
Seeing the accounts and the range of activities the monies were used for only goes to reinforce the view that much hard work was expended towards the end cause.
Fantastic job Davo55 and Curb It, and well done us - 60 grand is a phenomenal amount!
As for the balance, will support whatever you decide. My suggestion would be to put it towards a life-size statue of the man who has done more than any other to support our cause in the media - Simon Jordan.
Fantastic effort by @Davo55 and @Curb_It. Did it make a difference to the ultimate goal? I would say a big fat YES. Thanks for what you achieved. Like many others, I would trust them entirely to use the cash as they think appropriate. Let's hope we never need another fund-raising exercise like this.
We have some very generous fans (and wealthy ones). I wont mention any names but about 3 or 4 put in some serious serious cash between them. And then we had the 4 or 5 who set up a standing order and paid in each month. That was brilliant.
When we add to the Protest Fund the money raised by the Black & White campaign and the Protest Shirts, and that donated directly to B20, it appears Charlton fans raised closer to £70k to fund the protests, which is amazing.
However, it would not surprise me if even that was dwarfed by the value of the hours (even costed at minimum wage) spent by many fans organising and participating in protest events.
So, to everyone who contributed in whatever way towards convincing RD he'd bought the wrong club for his aims, take a bow - and hope it is at least another generation before we need to do the like again!
That total shows what a magnificent bunch of supporters this club really has.
In the hour of need, yet again the supporters railed around to help save Charlton Athletic. How many other clubs could achieve this and with previously the VIP scheme? How many other groups of supporters would have cared as much about their clubs to raise such funds?
Lets hope the new owners taps into all this love for the club from its supporters unlike Roland

To think we could buy a couple of Ronnie Moores with what was raised.
Or, just £15k to achieve widescale local, national and even global coverage (and approval) across the many media platforms. All this over multiple weekends when disrupting the start of games in a way that hiring a PR company just wouldn't have done.

The sum of £15,477 covers:
£988 for 1,500 beach balls v Middlesbrough home
£2,300 for 3,000 stress balls v Birmingham home
£3,815 for 36,000 balloons and 1,500 beach balls v Brighton home
£3,009 for 3,000 pigs v Coventry home
£2,974 for 1,000 black taxis and 1,700 stress balls v Sheff Utd home
£1,251 for 2,000 pigs Coventry away - note Coventry fans paid half of the total cost, this is just our half
£1,140 for 15,000 balloons v Swindon Home
Also worth bearing in mind that we had to order in bulk and at relatively short notice, which affects availability and cost. We negotiated hard to get the best unit price we could.

Disappointing.
CARD know who they are. They know what they did and what they achieved. They may not have agreed the tactics. They may not have liked the methods. But we all know what they achieved.
Not to make the gesture leaves a bad taste in my mouth. All well and good slapping backs etc, but debts have to be paid.
CARD did not even financially fully help R.O.T. Come on chaps. Play the game.

Hundreds went to Belgium, myself included, all at personal expense. None more important than any others. Let's do the right thing and give what's left to charity rather than all claim three quid each.
