I would like for once, that Charlton had an Abramovic type owner who can throw money around for players and not miss it. But no we get owners who have to worry about a few hundred thousand pounds here or there.
This has to be a joke? Have you had your head completely in the sand for the last few hours?
Stable and looking to push to Prem is exactly what we need as fans and is exactly what this club needs.
Did none of you follow today’s press conference? We are going to make some marquee signings?
Definition- A marquee player is an athlete who is considered exceptionally popular, skilled, or otherwise outstanding, especially in professional sports. ... The federation defines "marquee players" as foreign players who have represented their country in one of several international championships.

Yeah f*** these new sensible owners who aren't willing to spend above a players worth.
Nah I'd rather we had a football club that earns success rather than outright buys it.

We'll see. A lot of mixed messages. Marquee signings but not spending millions? I'm happy either way to be honest.
Lile Taylor's strike partner at Wimbledon has just been released from our friends up the road, won't cost a lot and scored more goals than Lyle at Wimbledon
If the rumours about Mowatt are true, could he be the one who would want an assurance that Bowyer was still gonna be there (Charlton)? Reckon the only reason he would consider Charlton is because of Leeds link/Bowyer nidfielder etc. Could all be total nonsense of course

Good point. I do honestly think we are in for Mowett.
I'm looking forward to coming on here after we lose big to West Brom on Saturday and not seeing all the panic about lack of signings etc, and of course if we want to survive we need to be beating minnows like the Baggies.
No one will mention we've gone backwards since the FA cup game either I am sure.

Tom Elliott? Taylor scored a lot more goals for Wimbledon than he did.

By definition a “marquee signing” suggests that the player would cost us in a excess of a million though.
Terminology for attackers is a bit confusing now most teams don't play pure 442.
Indeed Fantasy Football shows this as Sterling, Salah, Mane, Richarlison and Son are all classified as midfielders, despite being attacking players who score lots of goals.
Yeah fair point. But you have to look at the way them teams play, all with one CF/STR and formations such as 4231 or 433. We have only played like that on a few occasions with Bowyer.
Given this, it's hard to see Green playing anywhere other than as a striker.
Given that Green himself said he was a winger and has not played as a striker before, it seems a bit daft to play him as an out & out striker. More round pegs in square holes I presume.
Davison needs a partner and we haven't played with width often.

Then potentially end up like how QPR ended up a few years back when they got relegated from the Premier League?

When was the last time we signed an experienced player from the 1st team of a club in the same divison as us, for a fee?
There are probably loads I have forgotten but I can only think of a couple in Powell's team Wiggins and BWP. Before that it may have been Eddie Youds!
Even in the premier league we mainly bought players from the football league, abroad or players unwanted by bigger clubs. I don't expect that to change any time soon.
Chris Powell from Derby for £825k in 1998
Carl Tiler from Everton for £750k in 1998.
Eddie Youds from Bradford for £500k in 1998. Can't find exact details on his transfer date or fee so may have been from a division below or above. Did we sign him before or after promotion?
Neal Redfearn from Barnsley (just relegated as we were promoted) for £1m in 1998.
Graham Stuart from Sheffield United for £1m in 1999. Not sure on the fee here.
Andy Todd from Bolton for £750k in 1999.
Claus Jensen for£4m from Bolton in 2000. We had just been promoted from First Division to Premier Division, they finished 6th and were not promoted.
Luke Young from Spurs for £4m in 2001.
Chris Perry from Spurs for £100k in 2003 - great deal that.
Jerome Thomas from Arsenal for £100k in 2004.
Franny Jeffers from Arsenal for £2.6M* in 2004. Total for all add-ons, but targets not met.
Danny Murphy from Liverpool for £2.5M in 2004.
Darren Ambrose from Newcastle for £1.5m in 2005.
Marcus Bent from Everton for £2.3m in 2006.
Andy Reid from Spurs for £3m in 2006.
Amdy Faye from Newcastle for ~£2M in 2006 - can't find a solid number on this one.
Djimi Traoré from Liverpool for £2m in 2006.
Ben Thatcher from Manchester City for between £500k and £750k.
Paddy McCarthy from Leicester for £650k in 2007.
Andy Gray from Burnley for £1.5m in 2008.
Paul Benson from Dagenham and Redbridge for £250k 2010.
Pawel Abbott from Oldham Athletic for £20k in 2010.
Dale Stephens from Oldham Athetic for £350k in 2011.
David Button from Spurs (division above) for £500k in 2012.
El Hadji Ba from Sunderland (division above) for an undisclosed fee, likely around £400k in 2015.
