I get that Southall is in a tricky position, we don't want to offer decent money and then find ourselves in League 1, but this is similar to the summer where we are missing out on decent players because we can't offer that bit extra.
We are not in massive trouble ... Lee about to sign, a number of players being looked at, players returning from injury, 5 points clear of relegation and a better goal difference.
I think any team that’s won one match in months is in a fair bit of trouble. Still have faith that bowyer will steer us out of it if he’s given the resources
Whilst frustrated with the lack of activity and incoming bodies I think we should appreciate the situation we've found ourselves in and appreciate the board aren't willing to lumber us with overpaid players who have joined for the paycheck rather than wanting to be at the club.
ESI have to strike the balance between showing ambition to the fans after the takeover, with maintaining Harmony within the squad regarding who's earning what, we've seen what a tight knit bunch this squad is I don't think Bowyer would want players to come in and have them earning 2/3x as much as the current squad, nor can we offer new deals to everyone to keep them all happy, it's not as easy as '' Just offer him whatever he wants to get it over the line'' We're not buying players just for Preston away, the sense of urgency to get bodies in for this (and the WBA game) is astounding, yes we're short on bodies but we have to get the right players as Boywer, Gallen and Southall have all said, we would all be moaning if we just get the easiest deals over the line for these games then having to ship them on come the summer as they don't fit the squad for whatever reason.
It's a quiet transfer window, even for January standards, we know the staff are working on deals all the time, now is the time for patience, however difficult that may be!

Not that we should be comparing ourselves to other sides but we are ahead of the pack and the other teams around us bar hudders are hardly strengthening.....do you want to know why? Because the January window is always complicated and difficult...it’s only been mentioned by football pundits, managers and owners for the last decade.......
Just chill out and be patient!! We wanted rid of Duchatelet, we have.....
Perfectly chilled thank you very much, just think we are in trouble.

I agree that moment we are not in massive trouble at the moment. But we could well be in a couple of games time. 6 points to play for between now and the close of the transfer window. Bowyer signing the contract is vital - we have more chance of getting players in when his future is secure. Even when that is done, and players sign, it’s going to take time to get them settled in. The longer we take to get players in the more games that will have passed. I just hope we don’t get to a couple of days before the window closes and we panic buy.
People keep saying “it’s ok Cullen, Williams, Taylor, and Hemed are back soon” That’s all well and good, but they may well break down again.
Absolutely this. It just seems so similar to the summer at the minute.

Its always about the next thing...
Roland out Bowyer’s contract
Signings Stay up Buy The Valley and Sparrows Lane Signings Promotion push etc
This sums up the January window. The agent of every in demand player is telling their clients to wait until the last minute to try to squeeze every penny they can out of the most desperate bidders.
It’s all well and good telling the club / Gallen / Bowyer to give the player what they want but I highly doubt any player takes a good offer right away - they may even push their demands further. After all what’s another 500 quid p/w if we agreed to 1k?
It’s in their interest to wait and see what else develops.
ideally we would have some bodies in by now... but lets face it we will probably get 3/4 done on the 31st. Just got to hope we can gain a few points in next 2 games!
I'm hoping we are on to Chelsea for a loan as compensation for loss of Gallagher. Must be some leverage surely?
With Chelsea? We have absolutely none, they fulfilled their contractual obligations. If we kick off then they’ll never loan us another player again.
The leverage we have with Chelsea is that we did a good job with Conor and didn't kick up a fuss or demanded compensation for them recalling him in the way they did.
Can't see what Chelsea have done wrong ? They used the recall clause in the loan contract . Looks like Bowye r wasn't told before they did it which was disrespectful but not contractually wrong

There's a little conundrum at play in the January transfer window:
1) Clubs know that players in the last few months of their contract can normally be available at reduced market value, as their club know it's better to get something now rather than nothing in the summer.
2) But players in big demand running down contracts know they can sit on their hands now and perhaps negotiate a bigger/better contract in the summer as a free agent.
It's always a gamble though ...... not only form can be lost ("a player is only as good as his last game"), but serious injury can truly put a spanner in the works.
And then you can have the Ben Reeves' type scenario, where you think you can take a pick of clubs but as the end of the Summer transfer window approaches, end up late on signing for one you didn't fancy because you need a job.
So ...... if you were a player, which choice would you make?

Demand compensation? For what? Although having said that we might have given it a whirl if Roland was in charge...

I don't know about Roland ...... but maybe Katrien would have tried to sell Gallagher to Chelsea?

@Scoham @AFKABartram and that @Henry Irving
Every transfer window these three post an updated squad list.
And as soon as they post it someone leaves or signs. Its strong magic.
But this window? No updated list so no transfers in.
You'll never get away with it.

Nothing that CAFC can do but wait.

He has to write short simple sentences so that Sun Readers can understand.
A bit like Janet and John books ..... "The cat sat on the mat".
You know what I mean.
