If the Aribo thread is anything to go by, then why on earth would you be shopping at Rangers.
Greg Docherty will run all day for you, aside from that - not much else.
Probably 5th or 6th choice midfielder. He was signed with hopes he would push into our first team but hasn’t quite managed. Can’t see him offering too much, happy to be proven wrong - I would see it as a loan with option to buy if he was coming your way. He’s not the standard required for Rangers.
I get we have a budget to keep to but this is becoming a bit of a habit isn’t it, I’m hoping Matt Southall’s trip today was about loosening the purse strings.
The opportunity to screw Sunderland over one more time.
Yeah go for it.
Careful what you wish for. Remember what happened the following season the last time we beat them in a play off final? - We got relegated and they waved at us as they went up.
I remember Greg Docherty after managing Hamilton on FM18. Was one of their original squad that I kept and was a regular in central midfield.
In reality I guess he’s not progressed as Rangers had hoped. We’ve got the right manager to help a young CM improve though.
Feels like the kind of player we would have gone for under Roland. In League One.
We are trying to save our arses from relegation. We need to go much much bigger
The lack that we are allegedly competing with Sunderland for him is (if true) slightly concerning, as if we have rivals for our targets, surely they should be in the same division, not the one below.

Not the best time to harp on about a steady and sustainable budget when your midfield has been decimated and you've just been taken over by a sheikh!
I assumed when we didn't hear anything yesterday, negotiations were still ongoing as MM agent feels there's a chance of a wage increase as we have an owner from the UAE. The same reason the North stand sung we're effing rich the other week. If this deal breaks down I wonder if there would be a rethink on the wages or we keep lowering the bar in the quality of player we go for ?
21st or above is the aim, so no need to panic just yet but...

Yeah maybe a couple of experienced squad players from a lower Prem club like Brighton...
Or maybe we just need good players with the right attitude. Not saying Docherty is what we need, I don’t know enough about him, but big names aren’t necessarily what we need.
The only name we have that we can take as certain that we are trying to buy is Maddison. That’s good because he’s a very good player but every other name cropping up doesn’t exactly fill me with hope. In fact with the exception of a fanciful link with Toney the rest are completely underwhelming.

I’m sure they’ll be working on names that haven’t been mentioned. I don’t think Green was linked with us, neither were some of the summer signings.
February is make or break as far as I'm concerned. The best case scenario is Bows and Llye are still here, we have at least 4/5 new faces and 3/4 back from injury. If this is the case I think if we can get between 11 to 15 points and we will be on home straight towards survival. The flip side of the coin being we go into the month with still a paper thin squad and loads of kids still in or around the team (not their fault btw) and we lose a lot of 6 pointer matches which could mean by the end of the month we are occupying a bottom three slot, which if we are in my opinion , I think it will be difficult to pull ourselves out.
Jesus, some depressing things on here. I remember the Duchatalet days when Cullen and Gallagher we’re running the midfield. Teams like Leeds would come to the valley and get turned over , and we were at the top of the league. Managers were a dime a dozen and would sign whatever was put in front of them. We also won Wembley finals. What has happened?

It's a negotiation - if someone accepts your first offer then you most likely offered them too much.
Re us after Toffolo. I've heard we met their valuation.
Lincoln manager Michael Appleton says defender Harry Toffolo will only be allowed to leave the club this month if another side meets their valuation of the left-back.
Huddersfield made an offer for Toffolo in recent days - that’s despite a 'gentleman's agreement' between manager Danny Cowley and his former club when he left for Huddersfield in September that he would not make an approach for any of their players or staff until at least the end of this season.
It's thought the fee offered for Toffolo, who is also attracting interest from other Championship sides, was below Lincoln's valuation of the 24-year-old but discussions between the clubs are ongoing.

“Greg gives them an energy in midfield, which I didn’t believe Rangers had,” he told SportTimes.
“He has given them an extra dimension in there and another option. He is a winner and the type of player that will go to the last minute in a game.
“If you are in a dressing room or in a team, you are always looking for people who play for you until the last and Greg is that kind of player.
Docherty was Player of the Year on loan to Shrewsbury last year. If he played well against us, then Bowyer would have noted that ...... like he did with Tom Lockyer at Bristol Rovers; and the season before, Lyle Taylor for Wimbledon.
He seems to tick many of the boxes that Bowyer wants from a player.
Reading the interview MS had with CAST I do wonder about our negotiating skills. We were said to have agreed terms with a player, then the agent asked for £1,000 more per week. MS asks SG if said player is worth that extra and SG says no so we pull the deal. Surely MS should have asked a) do we want the player and if yes then b) is he worth an extra £500 a week. If yes then offer that. If the agent still says no then ok walk away but at least attempt to negotiate.

Or he does for actually doing it! Good job @cabbles

So it would seem that we are potentially gonna have more issues signing players now that others see us as 'Minted' than we did when we were skint?
