Great movement from him for the goal on Saturday. He's listening to Bowyer which is great, but it also isn't rocket science - when you see the ball is about to go into the box, if possible get yourself in there and try to occupy any pocket of space between the posts. Odds are good that the ball will drop to you from any kind of rebound, or cut back and you should get a decent sight of goal. Helps if you can strike the ball as cleanly as Connor does, but I never really understood why more midfielders don't do it. I'd certainly like to see a bit more of it from Williams and Cullen.
Cullen us often working as a defensive midfielder, and Jonny is picking himself up off the pitch after being fouled for the 105th time...

Cullen is usually playing right side of the diamond - the counterpart to Gallagher's left sided role. He is more of a playmaker to Gallagher's energizer bunny, but I think he could do more to offer a goal threat. Gallagher may well break double figures this year - I'd like to see Williams get 5+ and Cullen get 3+. If we're looking for ways to keep improving spreading goals around the team a little more than we have been would be an obvious one.

JFC started getting into more dangerous positions too before his injury
He did, and all he really did was make more forward runs off the ball - like I say, it's not rocket science, just try and get closer to goal more often and you'll probably get more chances to shoot.

Conor Gallagher has been rewarded for his excellent form on loan at Charlton with a call-up to the England Under-21 squad #cafc
Well deserved, there are some really decent players in the U21s at the moment

Hopefully means he wont play as much what with others ahead of him

Good point, and lets face the likes of Phil Foden NEED the minutes on the pitch

Pep calls him the most talented youngster he's worked with, but doesn't play him lol

Best midfielder in the Championship so far this season? Maybe a bit strong, but I certainly haven't seen us come up against a significantly better player yet. He's definitely done plenty to earn an U21 call up. Good to hear the England scouts are noticing our players too - something else Gallen can use when trying to persuade players to come here on loan/less money.

Damn! According to the article, Krystian Bielik won't be playing against us

The Addicks’ next challenge takes place when they host last season’s Derby County after the international break, on October 19th

Bowyer should enquire about loaning Foden in January. City must be aware of our reputation as a finishing school for young midfielders and he'd provide good cover from the bench.
Yeah I thought about that, Foden might struggle to get in our midfield though :-0

He could well end up being the best player I’ve seen wearing a Charlton shirt
I reckon this too....I can’t think of many younger players I’ve seen play for us who were that good
At his age he's up there with Bowyer & Parker in my view, probably ahead of Parker. Gomez also at a similar age. But there's no clear winner of anyone sub 20 years old better than him that i've seen in a Charlton shirt.
    What do you reckon, Len?

Shall we tell this young Johnny Come Lately all about Lenny Glover, Alan Campbell, Keith Peacock, Marvin Hinton and Mike Bailey?

Tut, tut @OggyRed how could you not mention Billy Bonds or were you too young?😉
Tut, tut @ Red Chaser ...... we were talking midfielders. Marvin Hinton, whilst primarily a ball playing centre half played a few games in midfield.
Billy Bonds was RB and can't remember him ever playing midfield.

Hang on @OggyRed, Lenny Glover and Keith Peacock were wingers (forwards) in their youth not midfielders but if you are claiming a bit of wriggle room then I'm going to as well for Billy who played in midfield when he got to Wet Spam. And as for Marvin Hinton in midfield I never witnessed that, he was a centre half wearing number 5, a half back yes but never did I see him play in the number 4 or 6 shirt 😉.

Hmmmmm ..... that's a lot of wriggle room, Mr Chaser. Bonzo was not in his youth when he played midfeld for the Hamsters.

By that reckoning, we'd have to include Bob Curtis.

I think there's been some crossed wires with Rob 7 Lee mentioning Gomez as an outstanding youth player who was definitely not a midfielder and I assumed you were also talking in general terms about youth players from our era hence why my surprise that Bonds wasn't mentioned.

Got this message from a Chelsea mate.

Development. Claude Makalele who's now in charge of loan players has been at Charlton several times watching and had meetings. They're surprised at his progress. He'll be in our first team next season. Apparently Bowyer and Lampard are in constant contact re his progress and development. Ive also read there's suggestions they'll be more Chelsea academy players heading your way next season.. Anjorin for one..

Looks proper knackered, has a knack for getting in the right place though. Looks very raw, but if Bowyer fancies him why not , who are we to argue.
