Couldn't post last night as I was stuck somewhere between euphoria and exhaustion!! Donny were the better team on the night and we seemed to have lost our game plan. I'm so pleased we got through and Wembley is now a reality, but can we just put the Mackems to the sword in 90 minutes, please!! Well played boys and what a fantastic atmosphere, it came over great on the TV, 8 days until we play again, 8 days to sort out a game plan, 8 days until promotion?

I don't know, but their goalie was very pissed off, so that could be it.
It looked to me as if the popo decided and told the ref it had to me the cupboard end on some safety grounds as when the players came up to toss you could see the Donny player getting a bit narked and pointing at all our supporters there...

It’s entirely up to the individual....and anyway, many Muslims don’t stick to the somewhat lax rules and under certain circumstances, even for devout Muslims, they can be allowed to break the fast.....such a circumstance would certainly be an athlete or sportsman needing correct sustenance for an important event. Not saying Nabby did one thing or the other but I very much doubt he would have gone out there under any duress due to lack of food or water if that’s what you’re thinking.

Absolutely dreadful performance, other than the first five minutes, seven minutes of the first half of extra time and the first three penalties. it was like ten strangers were on the pitch.
That game was so "big occasion" Charlton it should be the definition in the dictionary. Passes going nowhere, when they did go somewhere it was inevitably to a player who was tightly marked (yes I know Donny did a good job, but on many occasions there was clearly a better option, and it was rarely taken). Needless fouls given away, passing when shots were on, fannying about on the ball just outside our area... the list goes on.
I hated every effing minute after they scored their first.
Then I get home to find that my poor missus (who tried to watch at home on a stream, with little success) was gutted as we had "lost" 4-3 on penalties according to the BBC. It's not often I make her smile when I get in from the pub.
Couldn't even celebrate properly as we are working today.
And we wont be able to make it to Wembley either.
Still - can't wait to watch it on tele next Sunday, I hope the customers don't expect to be served quickly...
Oh - one upside was the pub I was watching in. I was the only Charlton fan in there, although several mates were in there rooting for us. By the time he missed that penalty, the whole darn place erupted on my behalf - bless 'em. All I could manage was an arm in the air...
Amazing night. Scoring that early really took the pressure off Donny and they had to go for it and they certainly did that. It was so crucial to equalise quickly when their 3rd went in, they would have cheated and time wasted their way to the final whistle and we’d have struggled to get the ball. The hostile atmosphere for the penalties was a huge factor too. 13 year old son was on the pitch, saw his school mates on there, that’s what it’s all about, can’t wait to take him to Wembley I missed the last time while living abroad.

Bauer won the toss and chose to go first. Before the toss the ref explained it would be happening in front of the covered end. Their captain was pissed off.
Ecstasy and delirium at the very end should not mask a performance full of mistakes. After a bright first 10 minutes we tried to play possession football, tip-taps sideways and backwards - yet we know our players lack the necessary skills and are bound to come a-cropper. Slow, ponderous moves bring self-inflicted errors and invite opponents to advance. We are strongest and most effective going straight for the jugular.
In the 93rd minute of normal time, Marquis rushing in at the back post was a whisker from making it 3-1 and ending our season. Half of our squad would have been released next week. Instead, we anticipate Wembley with high excitement.
But, but - we must play at a higher tempo, with more power and aggression, making smarter moves approaching the box. Where is Ben Reeves? He has the ability to unlock defences - and score goals - and is miles more effective than Morgan and Lapslie. Sunderland were the finest team at The Valley this season, a class above us in the first half. If we bumble around like last night, we'll get mullered. We must raise our game for one final victory.
Just on the penalties I thought we'd blown it until I saw the camera zoom in on Bowyer looking so helpless a bit like Curbs during pens at Wembley in 98. I felt so sorry for Bowyer looking so helpless but at that point I did think we would go on to win on pens just for Bowyer if anything anf thankfully that was the case.
Poor performance but what a win! Sat behind Bowyer and he wasn’t a happy bunny about the refereeing. He and Jacko had a few choice words with the fourth official. Great atmosphere, got a brilliant video of the crowd on the pitch. Unreal night but hey, we got there in the end.
The pitch invasion was spectacular and there was a LOT of pent-up frustration and emotion that went into it, but I do object to it, on the grounds that we're not up yet - enjoy the moment I suppose! But I'm already worrying about the final...
Great scenes after, and at London Bridge, Donny played well but inaging that journey home for them now, brilliant night and one I will remember for years to come...get in!
