Vincenzo, I'm watching the game but I'm listening to "footie stories" on a live pod cast with a guy called Mazza who was at Staines town with Joe, and Harry Hudson who was Aribo's mentor at Kinetic for 3 years. Funny the delay as both Mazza and Harry had the volume down and then realized that he had scored.
Well done Aribo. Was really disappointed when he left, can't say I blame him
Really? When instead of scoring potentially the winner in a major European Final he could have been doing so in League 1 against the likes of Morecambe, Accrington and Wimbledon or Gateshead in the Cup!
To be fair, the comparison at the time was away games at Aberdeen and Dundee vs away games at Leeds and Forest…
The trajectory of the two clubs since has proved it to be the right decision.
Fair comment but I'll see your Leeds and Forest and raise it with Wigan and Hull
Despite the goal. Despite the Euro adventure. Despite another cup final on Sat. Despite all this I still agree with Bowyer. He still plays matches in a non competitive league. Who is the top scorer in the Scot Prem this season? When did another team win the league apart from Celtic/Rangers? Look it up? Apart from money surely every player wants to play against the best week in, week out. He probably will play in the Premiership next season and will do well, he is that good. Bowyer was just gutted to lose such a good player at the time. My bigger issue was why Robinson didn't play him?
Bowyer said that because he knew Charlton would get a poor fee if he transferred to Scotland (can't recall the rule). If we were to get a large fee, Bowyer would have been saying the opposite. He was trying to do his best for Charlton and I can't blame him for that.

Exactly this.
He didn't say it was a step backwards or anything either, he didn't say he should stay.
He said he might be better off at a club like Brentford.
a) I bet a midfielder at Brentford is currently earning more than Aribo. b) Bowyer was saying it in the hope we'd get more compensation, simple as that.

I don't know why anyone would be moaning about or laughing at his comments on the transfer in the 1st place.
He was simply just wishing the best for aribo and Charlton at the time.
Well done Joe. Different class to the ones over the last few years ( Taylor, Burstow , Doughty etc ) who think they are good players. You genuinely are, good luck playing with Konsa again.

It’s incredible how that comment still lives rent free in the heads of such a large portion of their fanbase. Assume they’ll do it when he inevitably gets a big move as well

He wouldn't have lost in a Europa league final if he'd gone to Brentford, but he might have moved somewhere else after a year and been earning a lot more money. I still think Bowyer was right; his development in the SPL will not have been as good as it would have been in the Championship/ premier league.
Joe Aribo is a very good player - but the suggestion that he is Liverpool level is hilarious.
You can't possibly know what additional progress he may have made had he gone to somewhere like Southampton. Probably not Liverpool levels but who knows?
Could have gone to Southampton, Liverpool's feeder club and now be getting ready for the Champions League final having won the FA Cup and League Cup.
But instead he went to Rangers, played pub teams and lost a final. Well done him.
??????
If he had gone to Southampton why would he be getting ready for the Champions League Final?
I think the inference was that he would have earned a move from Southampton to Liverpool who are in the Champions League final next week.
Highly speculative, makes more sense to focus on reality which is that since leaving Charlton Aribo has helped Rangers to a historic 55th league title and scored in a European final and will likely earn his move to English PL club when this Rangers team is broken up this summer.

1-1 now and could go either way.
Fantastic achievement to score in an European final

Aribo is doing well at rangers. End of story.
So what
Breaking news..... Konsa going to Rangers!
