I suspect Taylor also reacted to being treated atrociously by the club in January. Of course this was by Southall who we all hate, but Taylor would have seen it as the club stitching him up. He will also have seen not being given the chance to up his salary negatively.
I think whilst the above is true, he clearly didn't think about his team mates and to a lesser extent the fans. Sadly for him, the former will follow him.
He didn't think about either because he probably does not care. Why should he? It's only a job.
Breaks his leg in the 3 games and no life changing move.
You could apply this to every player all the time.
Dougherty should stop turning out for us as he might break a leg and ruin a life changing move to Celtic.
Bonne should stop turning out for us as he might break his leg and ruin a life changing move to QPR
Levitt should stop turning out for us as he might break his leg and ruin his future chances of playing for United's first team.
Baker should stop turning out for us as he might break his leg and ruin his development and end his career at 17
Etc etc
Rubbish, it's not the same arguement.
You’re having a shocker here
Oh, he's taking it to it's limits.
Either way, people are only getting upset because he f***** us over. If this happened at another club the very same people would understand the actions of the player.
I have always understood and accepted why Taylor done it. Good luck to him.
It would never be okay for any player to refuse to play whilst under contract, whether at Charlton, Barcelona or Brentwood.
You say ‘why would he care, it’s just a job’, well that job is a team game and he would do well to remember that. The goals he scores to get him where he is, come from the hard work of those around him just as much as what he does.
Of course, Lyle Taylor probably doesn’t care, but that’s cos he’s a c***, not because he’s a professional footballer.

This.
Many fans of other clubs agree, I today had a meeting with a Ranger's fan at the end of the call we chatted football for 10 minutes and he asked why Lyle didn't play. He said the Rangers fans didn't want a player that doesn't play for the team.
He said they'd have treated him far worse than we did if he did that to them. He also said the guy got the publicity he wanted.

Yes, upset he didn't get his move to Brentford and was lied to by the "owner"
If you want to believe Lyle Taylor is a cxxt then carry on. I know the story of how he stepped in and protected a youth player at Wimbledon who was threaten by a senior pro who had just been nutmegged by a young player in training. The Lad's mum said he was brilliant and supportive of the academy players, then in knowing I was a Charlton fan burst into a rendition of "Lyle Taylor baby"; most surreal as we were at an 8 tier match that her son was now playing for (last season)

A deed that no doubt inflated his ego even more.
I couldn’t give a s**t if he delivered the tea ladies baby when at Falkirk or helped an old man across the road when at Sheffield United, he left Charlton fans and his Charlton teammates in the lurch and he will never be forgiven.
I do not believe for one moment his dream move was to Forest. I suspect something else fell through. I do however expect he got an exceptional signing on fee (circa £2m). Bloke still has no integrity, he is an absolute phoney.
I'm sure there are many people more evil than Lyle Taylor. He may be above average in many aspects of his life and personality in terms of decency, but he did let his team mates and us down quite significantly and we are always going to view the situation from that perspective. Understandably so.
Is solly and lyle first players to refuse to play for Charlton?
I would not play for Southall, so I have some sympathy for them
Parker reportedly refused to play, hence his 'dream' move to Chelsea oblivion.
How can you have any sympathy for Taylor and solly, They wern't playing for Mouthall, they were playing for the club, for the fans and for the shirt, although it seems they thought they were better than all of that, and instead just stuck two fingers up to the lot of us, no morals at all

Of course most Charlton fans will hate him and he is intelligent enough to know that when he refused to play in the 3 matches when under contract. The EFL and Premier League should've had a penalty clause, put in place to stop Taylor, Fraser, Hendrick, Solly etc from going on strike. The other 6 games would have been under the interim contract which players didn't have to abide by. Agreed Taylor has a massive ego (I told him to his face and he took it as a compliment) but that didn't seem to be a problem when he was our star player and winding the opposition up.
Bizarrely I took Scott Parker leaving worse because he was offered 24k a week and a one million loyalty bonus to stay but he preferred to sit on the bench at Chelsea. We were 4th in premier and Chelsea were 6th from memory.
Lyle was on 4.5k a week(red henry knew this) and Southall through his contacts within Charlton supporters spread the lie that he had been offered between 16 and 18k a week (Many CL member were passing this on over the garden fence)
The massive ego has landed at Forest, So far he can't see the wood for the trees. No hate, but I don't wish him well on the field.

He won't have got £2m.
But even a few hundred grand and then £15-20k a week is somewhere between £3-4m over the course of that contract.
Might not be a 'dream' move, but going from £250k a year to around a million is life changing.
Still should have played whilst under contract before going.

Where did I say that I have sympathy for Taylor or Solly? Far from it, neither has any excuse, they should be ashamed of themselves and they should never feel comfortable looking back on this time.
I hope that they will not feel comfortable looking a Charlton fan or an ex Charlton colleague in the eye.
re his hair I’m sure it’s for a cancer charity which fair bloody play to him.
edit after Jeff stelling said he didn’t think much of his hair he corrected himself and said it’s due to raising awareness of breast cancer and they gave him a small round of applause.

Sorry TellyTubby, my mistake, my post got attached to you in error somehow in the link, and i completely agree with your comments
Isn't it about time we got over Lyle Taylor? I really don't care if he scores 25 or no goals this season. Same as Bonne. As soon as a player leaves Charlton I have no interest in him anymore.

@dickplumb So you have no interest in Joe Gomez ? Having seen Joe Gomez play as a 15 year old for under 18's after being told by Joe Pigott's dad that he was the outstanding academy player and realising, barring injuries, would play for England.
Despite Joe Pigott and Michael Smith not making it at Cafc, pleased to say I have followed their careers and both have reached my prediction of scoring goals in League 1 and 2. Smithy has even had 2 seasons in Championship.
I hope Lyle stays healthy (I only hate people who do wrong to my family or property) BUT I'm finding schadenfreude is kicking in big time with Lyle Taylor.

I’m guessing a Lyle Taylor thread isn’t the place for you then now 🤷♂️
and a further pointer don’t go on the Bonne thread unless you like to see flouncing of the highest order
