  • If they move on from Lamouchi early and getting somone like Howe, I can still see them having a really good season to be fair
  • When we go up and forest go down we can all wave at taylor on the way
Now that would be poetic justice

Yeah but he is getting his pay so will happily wave us as he goes down without a care
  • Big boy school, not going too well so far

Back in primary school next season when we swap places  ;)
  • How much per week is Lyle new contract with Forest?
  • Taylor was a very good player for us. We have to admit that. Had he played out last season, I think he would have left with our good will and lasting gratitude. I suppose there was a chance he could have got injured, but I think there were players like Sarr who was out of contract and even players on loan from other clubs willing to do their bit.

The biggest problem for Taylor, may not be what we fickle fans think of him, but what fellow pros may think of him. He will have had team mates at Charlton who were negatively affected by his decision. It won't be just those that may now be suspicious of his credentials as a team player. Not a problem when things are going well on the pitch, but they might be if things are not.

I think that is a sub plot that doesn't weaken his position. But ultimately, the end of the season was about his team mates and fans. or at least should have been.

As long as its not us, that is fine.

If he went in the stocks for a week (remember Tiswas ) and apologize for not playing the 3 games when still under contract then why wouldn't you want a guy who was brilliant for Cafc and could get us promoted.

It won't happen because Charlton fans do hate big time and Taylor has burnt his bridges. Lyle saw through Matthew Southall for the shyster he was. I'm still amazed that some normally sharp CL posters didn't realize until the window shut that MS was a wrong'un.

Lyle Taylor made a mistake in not playing till the end of his contract. I'm still gutted for Cafc, but also gutted for him because the goals, assists and good things he does off the pitch has been erased from memory.

Or maybe he works in the football industry with a wide network of knowing who is who and was spoonfed information about MS.

Life changing contract is a nice phrase. I prefer that to life changing move :)

I don't hate him but once he had left, I realised just how much of his personality I found false and did not like, but saw past as he was our main man.

On a funny note, he's been rumbled (or outed) by the media, the fans now don't exist in the stadium to feed his ego and he has become very boring and samey.

Mendonca, you make a good point about the lack of a crowd affecting Lyle and his large ego on a football field. I wonder if Taylor is suffering more than most because after being a bit part Journeyman footballer until he was 27 and signed for Wimbledon where the Lyle Taylor baby chant started.
He certainly got the adrenaline rush from being the star of the show.

The paradox is, he now has the money but  is back in the chorus line instead of being the leading man.

    It's a funny old game.

I think this is possible. Some players do better when they are the big fish. We shall see.

Definitely. Look at all the faces he pulls, pretend frustration posing and twatty antics with away fans at corners. He's just keeping himself interested and now that set of ego fuelled motivators do not exist.
  • There is definitely something out of the normal about him. What I mean is if you look at his career, he wasn't widely known before he joined us and he was 29 years old. When we saw him play, most of us probably wondered why that was!

I suppose he is a player we can't really second guess. And given his club record, he doesn't stay in the same place too long.

  • I really don't think he'll care that much, if he cared more about football and less about money we'd not have had this issue.

Yes Forest are doing badly so far but he's still got his £3-4m contract.

I wouldn't want the guy because he broke a principal of not honouring his contract. Anything else is immaterial.

Can someone comment on his insta for me? Please ask him how big school is going.
I would do it myself but the career journeyman has blocked me.
Hes blocked comments on his most recent posts, went to pst exactly that yesterday but thought it'd only feed his ego knowing that we are still bothered about him.

Had a chat with his Dad earlier this evening in a bar in Koh Samui
Said he was on 4.5 k a week at Charlton, and has now tripled his salary at Forest.

Just as we guessed! Proper life changing.
  • Where is Cray Wanderers ground  ??  It seems like they were travelling along the A2 between Bexley and Falconwood.
    Groundshare with Bromley.
Think they are building a ground on the Sidcup bypass, Flamingos old site ?
    They train there I'm told.
New ground due to open 21/22 season.
  • Think Bowyer gets the best out of players. I reckon the ones who leave and can't cut it at their new club probably fail mostly due to not having him around as mentor/motivator /manager.

I honestly think he is a really top class manager.
    Are you reading this @golfaddick?

"Look here Charlton fans, I don't care about what I did.  I never have to work again now I signed this contract for Forest".
    This is the reality.
