    great memories

  • Not even a debate, 350 appearances in the top two divisions, the best strike partner Mendonca ever had. Legend.

Only thing they've got in common is that they both got somewhat unjustly slated for their scoring record. Carl got around 8-10 a season but set up or played a major part in probably another thirty on top of that. Magennis would be a decent strike partner for a goal poacher. Only a total idiot would rely on him to be your primary source of goals.
  • Leaburn by a country mile.
  • Leaburn all day long as he could actually hold the ball up, loved Leaburn.
  • Only seen Josh play once but from what I've heard, it has to be Carlo. Wimbledon wouldn't have snapped him up if he was useless
  • This isn't even a debate, for me. I don't get what Magennis offers. Leaburn was a real problem for defences, even when not scoring

  • Well, this debate could have gone a bit better for Josh.
  • Without question it has to be Leaburn. Arguably my favourite Charlton player of all time.
  • Like saying Messi or Kim Grant.
    Leaburn all day long.
  • Leaburn by some distance, hugely underrated player.
  • Martin Pringle
  • No contest. Carlo by a country mile.
  • If Leaburn was the best that Mendonca has played with it makes you wonder how the Play-Off Final would have gone had he stayed and started instead of Mark Bright - As of course, you've the famous incident where Bright discreetly blocked Perez from getting to the ball, which then allowed Rufus to get the late equaliser and send it to Extra Time
  • Leaburn all day long. Played in the highest division.

  • Leaburn.

Mag tries to flick on a header. Karl had the strength to hold off a player and chest the ball down.
  • Carlo was top man. Apparently he became a cult hero at Wimbledon as well.
  • Clive definitely said he was the best player he's ever played alongside.

so did Paul Williams I believe

    Leeeaaaabuuuuurrrrrnnnnnnnn

His hat trick at Ipswich will always live in the memory, one of the best Charlton away games ever.
  • Leaburn by a country mile - one of my Charlton heroes.
  • Leaburn was an underrated player who I personally thought was great. I remember how much the rest of the team thought of him and were aware of what he contributed. Paul Williams also said that he was great to play up front with. As for that penalty at Ipswich as I remember it, it was not a good penalty but it went in! I was so glad that I was there on the day to say that I saw his hat-trick.
  • I imagine Carl will be amused by the love for him on his thread, when for much of his career with us he was constantly slagged off!
  • We can stop now. Karlo wins hands down.
  • LEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEAAAAAAAAAAAAABBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBUUUUUUUUUUUUUUURRRRRRRRRRNNNNNN.
  • Always Leaburn, great team player.
