It's obviously not Shrewsbury as the filth aren't spraying people in the face.
From my limited knowledge - I would suggest this was from the original Skins 1968/9.Dont think we played Southend then - so maybe a Bank holiday away day.Great photo tho
We played two pre season friendlies at Southend back in the day. The pic above probably relates to 5/8/67 judging by the clobber. The other friendly was 5/8/77 so flares then or punk. We played three league games in the 70s two on a Friday night both in September and one on a Boxing Day which was on a Wednesday. It could have been the first Friday game Sept72 but the fashion is wrong but somebody on here can put me right.

69 and the fashion would have been cappers and skinhead haircuts. They are wearing DMs which makes me think early 70s.

Not sure about that. By the seventies everybody had started trading their DMs for higher legged ones and were wearing the uniform Harrington jacket, jeans with a small turn up or brogue(‘squire’) shoes . The hair looks too long for it to be 68 - 70. I’m probably totally wrong but I’d pitch that photo more like 67 which fits with the August 67 game mentioned

We have a winner, IMHO
Possibly. Can anyone remember when Monkey boots fitted in? I can remember getting a pair in the Village.

Did anyone notice the IRA graffiti? An image of the times.
70/71?
What happened in Blackpool in 72 refers to an eventful day out.
We must know one another mate.

Love the iconic twin towers behind.
Little did we know what was to follow.
