  • Yes it could definitely be him. Just checked his likeness online and I can remember my mum mentioning him quite a lot.
The reason I thought it could be Sailor Brown was this internet photo...

  • I'll go for Chris Duffy.

  • Thanks mate. I reckon you’re right.
  • Green and black.
I am sat in the stand next to one of my brothers in that Reeves/Dunphy photo and from my recollection it was indeed the green & Black strpies that we wore that day......... my dad took us into the seats for a change so I could get a decent view

  • Talking of Chris Duffy (Number 11) ... His late winning goal at Wembley, just 72 years before Patrick stepped up with another late show.

  • This photo was in the same sequence as the Duffy photo. May well have been Wembley for the Cup Final as my mum was there.

  • Thanks for all these pics I was at loads of the selhurst and Upton games...

    Thanks for the memories

not sure that's Wembley...the roof, covered terracing and back wall all suggest somewhere a bit more league ground..
  • Yep you’re probably right.

    Luton?
  • I love seeing all these old photos.

There is a touch of the Mr Cholmondley-Warner about some of them, but so what.
  • Charlton at Millwall. 2.1.89.
Rare Millwall victory. One nil in the 87th minute.

I was there that day, stood in the terrace along the side. Think it was Scott Minto's debut (in midfield)

Best place to go at their place, as long as you did not get sussed!

I miss grounds like that. Maybe not that corner we used to get squeezed into with the floodlight though.
  • Was that not the year Reg Cnut Burr taunted we would never fill the whole away end?  We did, and duly suffered our ritual humiliation.

If it was, i took my Aussie work mate to that one.  He was born within pissing distance of the Sydney Cricket Ground an iconic sports stadium.  I have often chuckled to myself since at his comments as we approached that rotting shit hole, something to along the lines of "Jesus mate, it's a fucking dunny"
Nope, that was 1991/92. It did take us five months to sell the end out though as it was postponed from the December until the April. But we got there. And your old Aussie mucker was correct although as said above I miss grounds like that.

That's the one!  He became an Addick, I have much guilt over that.  Sadly he passed from the bastard cancer far too early at 55.

Agreed. I normally went in the corner for Charlton games (made an exception that day) but if I watched Millwall v Whoever, I always stood down the side. Good view.
  • What game was the one that got postponed for fog?
Went in the clock house pub and came over the radio postponed due to fog.
Me and me mate what fog?
Went outside and couldn't see anything.
  • Shot in the Archer about midday with me bruv. Heard game was fogged off so we caught a train to Welling who were playing Kettering. Was in the Guy Earl when about 4.00 someone said Kettering had finally turned up so for some stupid reason the club started letting fans in so we took up a place behind the goal but you couldn’t even see it. All you could here was voices then the announcement that the ref had called it off. Had to queue up and get money back. Haven’t the FOGGIEST why we bothered so missed  two games in one afternoon .
  • Charlton related as Eamon Dunphy played for Charlton in the early 70s. A group of us were on the top deck of a bus going to play football at Mottingham. Eamon Dunphy was sitting on the back seat and we got him to sign the photo below. It created great merriment as if you look carefully below you will see his todger was hanging out the side of his shorts 😂😂

Early 90’s near Xmas, date escapes me, me and some pals ended up getting royally drunk at a Greenwich borough home game (we all lived near kidbrooke/eltham)
  • My wife has created a photobook for me for this Christmas. I will share a few photos with you. This photo was taken at Hoenderloo, The Netherlands. I had a nice chat with Jose Riga at the hotel, they then departed to play Reading behind closed doors. This photo is taken on the arrival at the ground. He has spotted me and my wife; thus the thumbs up. Nice detail: I was presented with a Reading football shirt that day. Club Brugge v Reading

  • The dark days, but boy was the blood flowing. See no evil, hear no evil, speak no evil. Genk, July 2015. The Parkes,Thomas Driesen, Katrien Meire, the parents and Roland. Dark days indeed.

So much about that photo annoys me..
