  • Crawley out for 10

    129-5

    Denly 46*
    Robinson 9*
  • Noticed we got 6 leg byes in our innings.

    How?

Buzzers? Straight off the helmet and over the ropes?

I must be the only that finds this strange haha.
There's no mention of this in the Day 1 report on Cricinfo (the report on the Kent website is basically the same, word for word).

If the ball hit the helmet it would have been five penalty runs and dead ball.

Denly faced that delivery (the last of the over) and Bilbo the next so the only way it could have happened would be for the batsmen to have run two with four overthrows.

Unless, of course, Joe volleyed the ball over the rope ...
I umpired yesterday and the opposition keeper managed to let the ball hit the helmet off not one but two balls resulting in 10 penalty runs. That I have never witnessed in one innings before.
In desperation their skipper resorted in sending the helmet to the third man boundary and the fielder there had to bring it to the keeper at the end of the over so he could wear it standing up at the other end. Suffice to say he wasn't an awfully good keeper.
  • Ollie comes from the school of "block the good 'uns and smash the bad ones" - 17 off 32 balls to date including 4 boundaries. Nothing wrong with that. Denly 55* (75)

146-5 and the highest Kent partnership so far.

We've got some really superstitious supporters - since when has a wicket ever followed when someone has pasted a score!

Not the score that bothers me but tempting fate with the comment even if correct

You can't have 6 byes or 6 leg byes, or wides, overthrows etc. A six can only be scored off the bat. John Holder said so on yesterdays Ask the Umpire on TMS

The scorecard says otherwise - how do you record two run leg byes and then four overthrows?

    ??

Can we reach 200 and get a batting point...

    In the other matches:

    Gloucs 127ao Warks 244-6

    Sussex 440ao Derbys 52-0

Live league table (hopefully including all the bonus points from these matches!):

    1. Warwicks P9* W5 L2 D1 Bat 20 Bowl 27 Pts 132
    2. Sussex P9* W4 L1 D3 Bat 25 Bowl 22 Pts 126
    3. Kent P9* W5 L2 D1 Bat 6 Bowl 27 Pts 118
    4. Leicester P9* W4 L2 D2 Bat 19 Bowl 24 Pts 114

Not only do Kent need to win this match they also need to get as many batting points as possible otherwise it's going to be a frustrating season of winning more matches than anyone else but not getting promoted because they are incapable of racking up a decent first-innings total
  • We have a total of 6 batting points so far this season!
  • Nothing like keeping it nice and tight before lunch.

And that was nothing like keeping it nice and tight ... :disappointed:
  • Podmore and Stewart to put on 100 now. Maybe

FFS! Don't you lot want to play in Division One?!

  • All out 195.

    25 behind no batting points...
  • So frustrating. We'll probably make 300 in the second innings now
  • Leics 25-1 Stewart got the 1.

    Lead 50.
  • It looks like they're targeting Stevens.
