  • Just seen the highlights of the last few overs and we nearly through it away due to some atrocious fielding by looks of it....hopefully will do better tonight.

I wouldn't agree it was atrocious fielding.

Somerset captain agreed they were not up to their usual standard in the field but both he & Bilbo "blamed" the wet outfield as well as the ball at times being called a bar of soap !

It was a pressure cooker out there during those final overs & IMO, our lads couldn't have fought much harder for what was a very important win.
  • Just got off the train at Chelmsford from Norfolk.

Lovely blue sky, a few light clouds.

    Forecast: Kent win.

    Enjoy, BA !

    Come on Kent !
  • Does anyone know which quarter final we would be in should we secure the home tie?

Currently in The Plough, now thinking about heading off to the ground.

    Carn the Spitfires!

I've tried to look it up but haven't found what the combinations are. Have booked a cancelable hotel in Brum for Sept 15 just in case though.
  • Same team as last night.

Kent win the toss and have elected to win.

Sorry, Kent have elected to field first
  • Essex 39-0 after 4 overs, making use of the 15 yard boundary at the Tin Pot County Ground.
  • First wicket down, Wheater falls to Haggett (caught Dicko) for 40.

    72-1 after 7.4
  • Denly beats the slog of Chopra and bowls him for 37.

    Essex 116-2 after 11.4

  • And now Joe gets the other set batsman.

    117-3 after 12
  • Four overs remaining in the Essex innings, 150-4.

Big Mitch getting the latest wicket.
  • 172-5. 1.5 overs left
  • Innings complete 201-6

Essex hit 18 4s and 7 6s, probably only 4 of those off the middle of the bat.

Lots of edges and streaky shots in the Essex innings, seems a below par total.

Prediction: Spitfires to win by 4 wickets.
  • Scoreboard pressure

    All out for 167
  • 10 an over is tough but let's see.

4 overs 1-58 is not great Mitch!
  • 16-0 after 2 overs.

More proper shots (and off the middle) in the Kent innings so far than in the Essex innings.
  • Ian Blackwell is one of today's umpires.

They say that inside every fat person there's a thin person trying to get out. In his case I think he's holding three or four hostage.

Blimey, he's eaten a few pillows since retirement.

    Kent 35-0 after 4, Denly 13 DBD 22
  • Powerplay over, Kent 75-0.

    Denly 30 (14) DBD 45 (22)

    Looking good ...

  • 105/2, Essex pulling it back
  • Halfway stage, 105-2.

    DBD still there on 54*
  • Bopara bowling well, 1-9 after 2.

    Kent 112-2 after 12
  • A convincing win and we top the group
  • 137-2 after 14.

    65 required off 36 balls.
  • Billings in 15th over: 464W

    151-3 after 14.4
  • going to be close
  • 46 required off 5 overs
  • Bopara now bowled out, 1-22 from his four overs. Bowled well.

    162-3 after 16.

    40 needed off 24.
  • Alex Blake living a charmed life...
