Did you know of an England youth player at your school from the year above you? I ask because when our school (St Pauls, Abbey Wood) played yours (c1988) we were told you had quite a few very good players and this one in particular scored this fantastic goal scissor kick goal. Hence we lost 5-3!Terry Naylor said:Eaglesfield 84-89 Falcon house Blue/Black

Thanks for that. I also noticed a Greenwich link for "Rodney".cafcfan said:
Well, based upon the seafaring theme from Nelson, I assume it's this one: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/George_Brydges_Rodney,_1st_Baron_Rodney and at en.wikipedia.org/wiki/HMS_Rodney_(29)Covered End said:

I was in Nelson house (red of course)
Drake was green?
Wolfe was yellow?
One other house? Can't remember 40 years later, shameful.
NB who the **** was Rodney ? :-)
Didn't they do education at your school :-)
In 1764, Rodney was created a baronet, and the same year he married Henrietta, daughter of John Clies of Lisbon. From 1765 to 1770, he was governor of Greenwich Hospital.
In 1782 Rodney was presented with the Freedom of the City of Cork, Ireland. The gold presentation box is held by the National Maritime Museum, Greenwich.1 -
Lol-I maybe should have mentioned it earlier but Dave Evans is my Dad! He's still trying to make people laugh bless him, but doesn't see Chris Brown anymore. He's still got a season ticket at Charlton too.MeebaumAzanitch said:
Yes. I was in quite a few of the same subject classes as him. His best friend was Chris Brown. They both liked to sit at the back of the room and be a double act.HandG said:

Perhaps the youngsters don't understand the question! ;0)AFKABartram said:Very noticeable the amount of older fans who went to schools around the Charlton area, and the distinct lack of the younger generation posting the same

Two of my kids went to Tallis, eldest son left last year, daughter left 4-5 years ago, all changed now, demolished and moved 300 yards to the right and now called an academy of some sort.Valley McMoist said:Have definitely posted on this thread before but...

They rebuilt the school a few years back and built houses where the front of the school used to be. Called it Alnwick terrace or something similar.

Happy days, mostly. Still don't like the colour green because of the uniform, although my uniform was non-existent from about the 3rd year. Don't think the school is called Eltham Green anymore and I think the uniform is navy blue.HandG said:

That wouldn't have happened at my 'mixed' secondary school!
As all sports and even the playgrounds were separated.

Not many ex-Bluecoats bods here. Weird, considering it's one of the closest schools to the Valley.0

Who'd admit it though, if you went to school with Rio Ferdinand ?Leroy Ambrose said:Not many ex-Bluecoats bods here. Weird, considering it's one of the closest schools to the Valley.
