@Womble - if MK ever dropped the Dons bit of their name, I get you'd still hate them, but would it start to calm down a bit?

Yeh definitely for me. Different for different fans but the fact that they can claim "we're the dons" and all that shit with it in their name rankles people a lot.

We're never going to have a rivalry with Wimbledon. They're obsessed with hating MKD so no one else gets a look in. Everyone else between the Thames and the Channel hates Palace (us, Millwall, Brighton) or Millwall (us, Palace). Wimbledon don't. They'll be bristling about the Robinson connection (just like we'd be happy to turn over a team managed by someone who'd been at Palace or Millwall for ages) but at some point KR will move on and it'll be like our games with Gillingham - a bit of edge but nothing like the Spanners or Nigels.

I dunno, I don't recall any animosity to Mick McCarthy or Kenny Jackett for example, and the hatred towards Pardew is nothing to do with his Palace connections...

The nature of KR, is that he's passionate, but also divisive, and is someone who says a lot, and thus is likely to say something to fan the flames...

Soooo... what is it that Robinson said while MKDons manager that upsets Wimbledon fans so much?

I'm not really willing to dismiss them as frothing idiots without that crucial piece of info.

He has said a load of things. He's claimed we banned them from scouting us ahead of our first meeting. Not true, we just said they probably shouldn't wear club kit etc. He said that without MK move Wimbledon wouldn't exist. Not true either. He's said Wimbledon fans could've stopped the move. His comments last week in the hospitality area which a number of Wimbledon fans witnessed, slagging off the club and its fans.

Charlton fans on here don't seem to understand two things, the first of which that he was and still very much is "Mr MK Dons", acting like MK are completely innocent of any historical wrongdoing and all the blame lies with Wimbledon fans.

The second thing is, and this is probably the only thing MK fans will agree with me on, he's a bit of a cunt. A genuinely nasty man who has developed a pretty bad reputation with fans in the Championship and League one. His post-match moaning, his in-game moaning, in the fourth officials ear from the minute go.

What about his four game touchline ban for a comment to a Bradford player for offensive comments motivated by a players nationality.
And then plays the "I've never done anything to disrepect anyone" card.
I get you've gotta defend him because he is your manager, fine. Don't let Robinson fool you with his "I'm just an innocent fat bloke doing a job" routine when in fact he's a grade A bellend, and don't have a go at Wimbledon fans for lacking class when your manager is hardly a shining example of possessing it himself.

It's a real shame, Wimbledon fans have in the past been massively supported of your Roland Out campaigns, massively supportive of your attempts to return to the Valley back when that was all going on.
I think you'll find he's disliked by many on here and is frequently slagged off for generally talking bollocks. He has a little easier time of it at the moment because the football's ok.
We know what he is like and so we can point out when you're lacking class. The majority on here are pro AFC and anti MK, including me, but that doesn't hide the fact you seem to have more than your fare share of scum (as mentioned by every team throughout your rise through the leagues) and your behaviour is frankly often pathetic on this subject.
I've heard Bromley mentioned a few times, actually, pretty exclusively on this whole "as mentioned by every team throughout your rise". Ignoring the fact that our fans aren't quite fans of Bromley and their supporters because of an incident during one of our games. IIRC, their player went down injured, we kicked it out, and then Ryan Hall shot instead of returning it to our keeper, scored, and celebrated, and Bromley showed a massive lack of class by refusing to score an own goal.

There's a video of it somewhere. Other non-league fans are just a bit jealous of the fact we've been successful, the overwhelming majority have only good things to say about us.
  • Gawd, a bit off topic we go. Lets all get into AFC Wimbledon vs MK Dons debate, i am sure that hasn't been done to death already probably on here before if you search it?

All i would say we have no rivalry with any of you just AFC recent over reaction (in our opinion) and hatred towards our current manager, dont think it will be anything but when he moves on so will your lot hopefully we aren't in the same division as either you in the first place that long enough to create one.

Agreed. The goodwill your club built up amongst the nation's fans is being pissed away faster than a student loan. Just because what has happened to your club and the fact MK still uses the Dons bit doesn't excuse the behaviour being described.

I will agree with you about KR being awful in a post-match interview situation, recycling the same excuses, blaming anyone and everything but himself and generally being a bit of a twat in front of a camera. But he's not as bad as you make out, not a 'grade A bellend' and certainly not 'nasty' - I've met him several times and he has been very easy to talk to, down to earth etc and very different to how he is in front of the media.

He certainly hasn't irritated as many opposition fans as you think when he was in charge of us. There are far, far worse people involved in club management than KR. Clearly he has wound up a lot of your fans, and naturally if a manager of another club criticised us I expect our supporters would be equally fucked off.

But - several of your fans have taken things too far in their behaviour/actions towards him during games he's been involved in, not to mention the things said on your forum going way too far. Don't think there is any way you can defend what other AFC Wimbledon fans have said about him to be honest, especially the comment mentioned earlier in this thread.

I thought he was groundsmen who volunteers at Wimbledon rather than being a paid employee.

AFC Flyde v Wigan has been selected for tv on the Friday.

No news about the other fixtures yet

Not really surprised about that as its a game that the BBC can pretend is a Derby with both sides in Lancashire

Also saves them having to go very far with the BBC now based in Manchester

A National League team at home to the club which won the FA Cup in 2013 is a pretty decent tie to be fair, especially as the clubs are relatively near

Its also one of the few ties where a Non-League tie is at home

Mark Chapman basically said on the BBC Draw that any situation like that and your guaranteed a TV Game

Regardless though its definitely one I was hoping to see on the TV

But surely, paid or not, he was representing AFC Wimbledon?

And does him being a volunteer, make what he said any less odious, and INFINITELY more disgusting than anything Robinson may have said about Wimbledon and its supporters?

and I massively supported Wimbledon Greyhound track before it was demolished in favour of you lot.

Would've been demolished closed down even if we MKDons weren't taking it over. Fake news.
    What's the difference?

  • The fans didn't support the club enough to keep them going.
Would they rather have the owners just closed the club down ?

It's a small club. The number of home fans they were getting at Selhurst in the Premier League isn't many more than they are getting now at Kingstonian in League 1.

You seem to be suggesting that it's fine to shut down a club if they don't have many supporters.
    MrOneLung said:

That's effectively exactly what they did. That's the whole reason why Wimbledon FC supporters formed a new club, AFC Wimbledon.

    Odd comments.
  • Horrible little hole of a ground in a dismally seedy bit of town. Went there for a pre-season friendly about five years ago: waves of nauseous odours from the sewage works along the river, mosquitoes biting yer legs...

First time i've ever heard the Royal Kingston-upon-Thames called 'seedy' !
  • Must admit, dont 'get' the attitude towards Wimbledon or MK - as someone might say,,,move on.
  • This is all becoming very boring

To clarify, I think all English football fans owe Wimbledon fans a debt because if they hadn't kicked off and fought against the move to MK, and then set up a Phoenix club, then this sort of thing would have happened a lot more often. As it is, I don't think it is at all likely ever again.

In that case I think all AFC Wimbledon football fans owe charlton a debt because when it was being considered in the mid 1980s that charlton would move to Milton Keynes, they didn’t....

I think they owe us a debt of gratitude for us leaving Selhurst and moving to Upton park, which meant they had somewhere to go when they left Plough lane.
