Despite calling us idiots, customers and weird, now - after nearly four years - they have listened to us.
We have a British manager who knows the league, it seems he is picking the players and for the most part the back room team he wants. The CEO and the owner have managed to shut their stupid mouths. We seem to have players who want to be here and who know what is required.
It's like the stupid office-politics games you have to play with egotistical bosses. You suggest putting a barrier up in the car park, and it's not necessary. Six weeks later the boss suggests the same thing and it happens. RD and KM think the change in direction is their idea, apologists will go along with that view. But ultimately it is protest that has bought about change.
I still want an owner who gives a shit, I still want a competent CEO, but if things on the pitch are going in the right direction, I think we are all prepared to give it time?55 -

I'm still not going to home games. Whilst things look better than they've ever been under this regime I'm not convinced that Roly and Katrien have it in them to go a full season without making a monumental balls up of things. I hope I'm wrong. I've always said I'll return either when they start running the club properly or they sell up and leave. I'll see how this season pans out, it's too early to judge whether there has been a full u-turn or just it's a temporary measure.iainambler said:Have to say after completely boycotting last year, I'm wondering if I can make it through this season without going. It would be lovely to go to the valley and see some decent football*, and boy do I miss being there - so does my youngest.
Won't be going back for a season ticket for a while though....
* Ever the eternal optimist...
I listened via the web, it sounded like a great day out. The team clearly has some fight in them but there is also quality, we are definitely looking much better equipped than we have been in previous seasons and I respect that some are ready to give the regime another chance by turning up and watching the team. We all have our own moral compass and we have to do what feels right and I don't see that it's anybody else's business what decision an individual decides to take on this issue.2 -
I sort of agree with you but I will reserve judgement for a few months and many games later. I seriously doubt their commitment to the clubs first team success, the past few years have shown them for what they are.Algarveaddick said:Despite calling us idiots, customers and weird, now - after nearly four years - they have listened to us.

Robinson understands the off field stuff and recognises the problems between the fans and the owners and is working hard to make sure despite this we have a group of players and coaching staff who give us something to be proud of. It wasnt the biggest crowd but it was great to be in a happy Valley with a good positive atmosphere. The players gave it their all and it was a good day capped of with the crossbar challenge.
i think some people would prefer to have a poor foreign coach with players forced on the manager from the network and the couch in the corner just to keep moaning and moaning. Give it a rest like it or not things have changed and things are improving for the better.
I for one along with my 22 year old son will be back on the 19th for the Northampton game

Cheers @Baldybonce , @East_Stand_Loopy will seriously consider it. @ricky_otto, probably not the best suggestion considering it's my wedding anniversary weekend

Checked the figures and HOME attendances were
Bristol Rovers 10,794
Northampton (1st home game last season) 10,284
Swindon (last home game of last season and also a CARD protest game) 11,354
So not much in it really.
Away support was 1283 NTFC, 578 STFC 2174 BRFC2 -
Well said Ben! Throughout this period of our history there has been too much digging out of fans (which I suppose my post is dping too). The nice thing about today was that we, the fans, seemed to be united as one, it felt like watching a game as it used to be.Henry Irving said:11,932
Was attendance v Swindon last league game.
A thousand less but again more Rovers there.
Not sure why you are stunned or why you need to dig out others fans.
We get this from both "sides" who claim they are "real" and the "others" aren't and both are equally wrong.
We're all fans.
Btw good win today.3 -

Katrien should have been on the pitch to introduce the sponsors but she knows she is person non gratis.
All the while she skulks at the back of the directors box and keeps her gob shut suits me.0 -
problem is she doesn't keep her gob shut. every signing we've had she comes up with some nonsense about we've been after this person for the last hundred years and how that person fits into the team as if she actually understands anything about football.Baldybonce said:Katrien should have been on the pitch to introduce the sponsors but she knows she is person non gratis.

I'm stunned that you're stunned. I've been saying for a while that the main reasons for the discontent was that the owner was foisting upon us an endless string of inappropriate managers and players and the fans wanted the club run like a normal football club.NorthStandUltra said:At the number of people who have returned to The Valley today, as if nothing has gone on & it's all fine now.
Katrien & Roland will be laughing
Most fans wanted a decent manager with L1 experience backed up by similar coaches.
We wanted players appropriate to our league, who would "play for the shirt".
Ok this is a simplistic response, but they are the biggest factors.
We've now got that and let's hope (I'm far from confident) that the squad is strengthened and not weakened in the next 3 weeks.
We're not deaf, blind, stupid or suffering from memory loss.
We're just desperate to watch and cheer on a Charlton team that we can identify with and back. As of today we have that.
Saturday was the best display and most effort a Charlton team have exerted since the Powell era.
Down the line who knows and I'll cross that bridge when we come to it.20 -

Sounds like Saturday was an enjoyable start, but I'm not getting excited until I see the state of the squad once the transfer window has closed.4
-
It was very painful not going to the first game of the season, I was kept up to date by the CL match thread.
As I have stated I have not renewed for the first time since I can remember, having endured last seasons appalling management of the club, enough was enough.
I have said that the only way I will come back is if the Rat and Liar sell up, or they change tack by having some ambition (results wise) and keep the players that have progressed to the first team, sign some quality players and let the manager manage.
I agree with Algarves excellent post above, the protests appear to have had an effect.
Im very pleased for the win obviously and it sounded like KR and the team showed passion and the crowd as well, but will wait until the transfer window ends before reviewing my decision. And if I think that they have learned from their mistakes, then I may be back, until then, COYRs.7 -
