If this is true, is this the believed delay in proceedings?

Looks like the sort of thing they heard their mates brother who has read all the rumours on forums and social media and worked out his own story.

If they have other football interests they should be fully aware of the rules. Look at the Sunderland takeover, the chairman(?) had to sell his shares in the non-league club before the deal could go through.

    I hope that is true.

    Admin.

In the interests of fair play, would it be possible to review the entire thread and remove the pages of puns, willy waving, food references and general bollocks.

It wouldn’t be right for someone to receive a promote when they haven’t truly earned it.

But promotes are given for excellent content, and the puns are the best bit. Well they are in this plaice, anyway.

This came from a very good source, who would know. It was not heard from a mates brother.

I'm sure if they genuinely are aiming for the premier League, then any investor is going to be pretty minted. I think plenty of people have already said two investors were barred, probably for links with other clubs.
And I'm sure I saw Eamon Dunphy charging down the wing ;-)

See there’s one thing I don’t like about the Aussie model and that is that it is too similar to the RD Belgian dream but using Australian links to fulfil our quota of players

All signs that the Australian consortium do not have the required pool of cash to help us regain a decent foothold in divisions higher than we currently are

You don’t know what the model is. They’ve already said it’s not going to be an Aussie nursery club.

Which you accept could just be spin?
Well, he's presenting it as FACT, as if it's a given, when the Aussies have said it won't happen. He can say he thinks they're lying if he wants of course, but it's disingenuous to state it as a fact in that way, as if he has inside info.

And trying to draw comparisons with Roland is way OTT.

This ex director is briefing him against the Aussies, and he's going along with it without proof. Dont you tbink that's different from me repeating what they say, because there's no third party in between , putting their own spin on it. I've been careful not to put spin on it. Not that my opinion counts for more than anyone else's anyway.

He commented that Grapevine's post was excellent, and then goes on to give the exact opposite message to Grapevine, at the same time trying to make it look like they're singing from the same hymn sheet.

As to the nursery debate, I said to my contact I thought Charlton fans would probably be very happy if we signed players of the caliber of Kewell and Viduka somewhere down the line. Personally i wouldn't mind if we had two or three Aussies of lesser talent than those two playing for the club, so long as they're at least up to the job. Not much of a price to pay to get rid of the current regime.

But when he said we weren't going to become an Aussie nursery club I believed him, yes, for what its worth.

But anything can be spin until it happens of course, but that's a different matter.
    Who's this ex director?

No, I think it's exactly the same, anyone releasing info is only doing it to benefit their own cause.
  • What I’m really failing to comprehend is that if there truly is a second British consortium still in the running. What on Earth is stopping them from getting ahead of the Australian’s who have been falling short for reasons that are largely unclear for weeks and possibly months.

because there isn't one.......or at least not one that is credible. RM doesn't want to lose his seat at the top table so is trying to cobble together some friends with money to help him out.
Good friends because it’s going to take upwards of £75 million to get up and running.

Don’t buy that although I do accept Murray could be involved. He doesn’t have that sort of money.

An Australian’s view on the takeover. This is the funniest bit:

But what if Charlton became the preferred destination for ambitious Aussies? What if one day a team based in London, featuring a large Australian contingent, was able to win the FA Cup or Premier League … or even the European Champions League?
Things like that don’t happen to us.

The only problem with this is that to get a work permit Aussie born players would have to have parents or grand parents born in this country or be established internationals.
  • Insomnia here too! My questions for anyone itk and in particular @Redhenry and @Airman Brown .

    1) Is Varney behind the failed Saudi bid?
    2) Is there a business link (other than Jiminez), between Kevin Cash and Mike Ashley?

Sorry if the answers may seem obvious to others.

The Saudis did try and get Varney on board but he declined. Don't know the answer to your other question.

    Pudding or dessert?

    Neither it's 'Afters' or sweet.
Afters died for me in 1976.

My new bride of one day had made a nice dinner, but looked at me askance when I asked, 'What's for afters?' Afters? she said ... like what? 'Oh you know something with custard' ' ... like what with custard?' 'Well ... apple pie, rhubarb crumble, spotted dick, fruit salad.' My extensive list of Mum's delights soon began to falter though as the atmosphere plummeted to the depths of a late Millwall goal at the Valley. I never even got to rice pudding!

Actually, does anyone have proper afters anymore?
When we go out for dinner the wife ALWAYS looks at the sweet menu first!

Something else to add to this, I was in a boozer in petts wood last night and spoke to Paul Elliott for a short while who was in there, he said he’s doing a lot of work down at Charlton and “watch next week” was his words.

    As you do......
