What came first Charlton Life or the takeover thread?
I know a funny story about that.
See, I was in a pub and @lookout had been going on about a website and @AFKABartram had been begging me to write for his new fanzine so I introduced them and said "guys, why not work together, pool your talents, it will be mega"
They couldn't see it but I convinced them.
And now only 13 years later we are seeing the fruits of the visionary work of mine.
Looks like the sort of thing they heard their mates brother who has read all the rumours on forums and social media and worked out his own story.
If they have other football interests they should be fully aware of the rules. Look at the Sunderland takeover, the chairman(?) had to sell his shares in the non-league club before the deal could go through.
See there’s one thing I don’t like about the Aussie model and that is that it is too similar to the RD Belgian dream but using Australian links to fulfil our quota of players
All signs that the Australian consortium do not have the required pool of cash to help us regain a decent foothold in divisions higher than we currently are
You don’t know what the model is. They’ve already said it’s not going to be an Aussie nursery club.
Which you accept could just be spin?
Well, he's presenting it as FACT, as if it's a given, when the Aussies have said it won't happen. He can say he thinks they're lying if he wants of course, but it's disingenuous to state it as a fact in that way, as if he has inside info.
And trying to draw comparisons with Roland is way OTT.
This ex director is briefing him against the Aussies, and he's going along with it without proof. Dont you tbink that's different from me repeating what they say, because there's no third party in between , putting their own spin on it. I've been careful not to put spin on it. Not that my opinion counts for more than anyone else's anyway.
He commented that Grapevine's post was excellent, and then goes on to give the exact opposite message to Grapevine, at the same time trying to make it look like they're singing from the same hymn sheet.
As to the nursery debate, I said to my contact I thought Charlton fans would probably be very happy if we signed players of the caliber of Kewell and Viduka somewhere down the line. Personally i wouldn't mind if we had two or three Aussies of lesser talent than those two playing for the club, so long as they're at least up to the job. Not much of a price to pay to get rid of the current regime.
But when he said we weren't going to become an Aussie nursery club I believed him, yes, for what its worth.
But anything can be spin until it happens of course, but that's a different matter.
Now is the summer of our discontent Made shocking summer by son of Walloon And storm clouds hover upon our valley In the deep bosom of the Thames buried. Now our patience has expired anon To fright the souls of fearful adversaries, Willy waving in a lady's chamber To the lascivious pleasing of a scoop But I, that am not shaped for sportive tricks Want Roland out, before the Autumn light.
In the interests of fair play, would it be possible to review the entire thread and remove the pages of puns, willy waving, food references and general bollocks.
It wouldn’t be right for someone to receive a promote when they haven’t truly earned it.
But promotes are given for excellent content, and the puns are the best bit. Well they are in this plaice, anyway.

This came from a very good source, who would know. It was not heard from a mates brother.

I'm sure if they genuinely are aiming for the premier League, then any investor is going to be pretty minted. I think plenty of people have already said two investors were barred, probably for links with other clubs. And I'm sure I saw Eamon Dunphy charging down the wing ;-)

@JamesSeed to be honest you are making a lot of assumptions on someone else and starting to come across a bit rude in my opinion.

No, I think it's exactly the same, anyone releasing info is only doing it to benefit their own cause.
What I’m really failing to comprehend is that if there truly is a second British consortium still in the running. What on Earth is stopping them from getting ahead of the Australian’s who have been falling short for reasons that are largely unclear for weeks and possibly months.
because there isn't one.......or at least not one that is credible. RM doesn't want to lose his seat at the top table so is trying to cobble together some friends with money to help him out.
Good friends because it’s going to take upwards of £75 million to get up and running.
Don’t buy that although I do accept Murray could be involved. He doesn’t have that sort of money.
My response to @grapevines post was a reflection on the respect I pay to the way he posts and puts across his message I don’t have to agree to his thoughts
Your right about one of my sources of info but totally ignore the one with the most info that I get
There’s a main differences to what I post from the oposing fence
it’s been correct every single time where as the info being released by others and the Aussies has not come true once as of yet
Therefore it has more credibility to me than anything else that has been released on here with the exception of the much abused Doucher who if you read what he has posted on the whole has been far more accurate than anything else
And we will be a pool for Aussie football talent in coaching and players I will have a tidy wager on that with you should the Aussies ever reach the bottom of their so deep pockets they can’t find their cash
And remember those that you say are feeding me false info
I posted 24 hrs before the statement and before your text back from your guy
That things were not dead things were being continued the wheels were still spinning underneath
That RD was working on removing the debt in the background
Let’s not forget that the aussies themselves have twice now mentioned that the reason for the delay could be due to final sign off and the complicity of building a financial consortium
In NLA terms that means they ain’t got the dough and I will add the same line I added in October
Currently they may well find it
through to June
All of this in the background of
Imminent Done deal Feb conclusion Staff told it’s a week a way It’s happening
Let’s wait and see I hope they find the cash I hope they buy the club lock stock and barrel because anyone is better than RD imo
But i have reservations about anyone who buys us and there’s no clear proof of finance
We have been there before
I have reservations about people that openly in the initial press info on the AFC are open about bringing the Australian football interests to the UK
As we have been there before but with a Belgian
When you combine the cloudy nature of where and who is in charge of the pennies in the newcconsortium and the fact that we could become an Australian version of the RD player pool game
I think it’s only right that it’s treated with caution
Absolutely typical Charlton. After all the disgracefully incompetent and awful owners the EFL have allowed through their 'fit & proper' test, we get ours chucked out just because they're rich enough to own two football clubs!
An Australian’s view on the takeover. This is the funniest bit:
But what if Charlton became the preferred destination for ambitious Aussies? What if one day a team based in London, featuring a large Australian contingent, was able to win the FA Cup or Premier League … or even the European Champions League?
Things like that don’t happen to us.
The only problem with this is that to get a work permit Aussie born players would have to have parents or grand parents born in this country or be established internationals.
NLA - a lot of information over the last year has come from other places than the Australian camp. It’s simply not correct to see the saga as one of two sides leaking rival versions.
“Done deal”, for example, did not start with the Aussies but a professional source not working for them at all. “Feb conclusion” came from RIchard Murray in public, as a matter of record. Gardikiotis came from somewhere else entirely, and Muir from somewhere else again. It’s not nearly as binary as you suggest.

But you have to see it from My world AB firstly I don’t have a clue what words like binary mean and it’s prob the first time in 43 yrs I have ever used it
And I like things to be simplified
If we say things are going to happen I like them to happen if we post things that say times and dates I like them to happen
The RM feb conclusion was always bullshite we all knew that
I genuinely believe that unfortunately for you and others that you were deliberately miss led and that is no slight on you or your sources but I think that a certain individual holds you quite accountable for his plight and as such tried to get a bit of retribution
Something else to add to this, I was in a boozer in petts wood last night and spoke to Paul Elliott for a short while who was in there, he said he’s doing a lot of work down at Charlton and “watch next week” was his words.
My new bride of one day had made a nice dinner, but looked at me askance when I asked, 'What's for afters?' Afters? she said ... like what? 'Oh you know something with custard' ' ... like what with custard?' 'Well ... apple pie, rhubarb crumble, spotted dick, fruit salad.' My extensive list of Mum's delights soon began to falter though as the atmosphere plummeted to the depths of a late Millwall goal at the Valley. I never even got to rice pudding!
Actually, does anyone have proper afters anymore?
When we go out for dinner the wife ALWAYS looks at the sweet menu first!

Yep that’s the deadline date on certain parts for both RD’s debt removal and the Aussies final push

I don’t buy it, I’m afraid, but then I know my own sources so can judge the likelihood of that. Of course there is misinformation put about deliberately, but so what? It’s why I would be cautious on anything coming out of The Valley on this matter. I started reporting on Charlton 30 years ago this summer so I guess I can deal with that. The only significant thing I have put out about the takeover with a single source is Muir - and that proved correct.
It’s no coincidence that all the five items you list above are about timing, none are about detail. Not all of them are to do with me, but I agree a deal has been anticipated too often, including by Murray who is on his own account the official spokesperson of the club. We’re all trying to hit a moving target.
I don’t buy for a minute that Murray lied about timing in order to stave off protests - he’s not stupid enough to think that wouldn’t come back to bite him, as indeed it has. I am not saying he is trustworthy, simply that he doesn’t act against his own interests.
We sometimes need to remember that the official position right up to December 28th was that the club was not for sale and many fans believed there was nothing going on - partly because it was not reported there was in the local, never mind national, press.
That is the context in which the story unfolded. It was Meire’s departure that finally blew that out of the water, but a great deal of info has emerged through Charlton Life, VOTV and elsewhere, before and since, even if to some extent we are all dealing in shadows.
