Several sources had said EFL approval went on 18 May but in the ROT interview subsequently, RD said approval had not been sought. Dick that he is, he would have an input with the authorities on this.
Talk about damned if you do and damned if you don't! People on here were calling for the Trust to try and elicit some comment from the club, and some members approached us directly with that request, including some posters on here specifically suggesting we contact Murray. We were already discussing it ourselves so yesterday one of the board called Richard Murray, as we do have that option open to us - he would unlikely have taken a call from many others. (In case you missed it, we don't have a direct line to Duchatelet, though ROT did a good job of getting his comments very recently.)
We have simply provided feedback on what Murray said, as, like most on here and elsewhere, we are in no way sure of what is or isn't happening right now. If you read back through the Trust website, you will find plenty of criticism and calling to account of the club over the past three years.
That's really isn't the case H. Sorry, but what exactly did the Trust do after being specifically asked to contact him? A quick 'phone call? That really isn't good enough to be frank.
It's not what Murray said that's the issue here though, it's what questions were asked of him.
Do you or any other Trust board members seriously believe the "I know nothing" line from Murray? And why wasn't he challenged when he repeated this bollocks during the phone conversation.
And why hasn't a face to face meeting been arranged? It's been four months since his " sale by the end of the month" scenario has come and gone. As a trust member, I would expect at the very least, quarterly meetings with the Club, otherwise what's the point?
That's four months of nothing. No statement, nothing off the record, nothing fed to his comms team and it appears a Trust Board happy to sit back and let him get away with his procrastination and his crawling up to RD. Meanwhile we get more and more frustrated, mainly because of the lack of transparency from the Club.
Far too much reverence towards 'Richard' I'm afraid and what appears to be acceptance of everything he has to say.
I would hope that CAST would be far more robust in their questioning of 'the conduit between the fans and the owner'. He is well aware of the consternation that is being felt by the grassroots fans yet the best he can manage if a few words of comfort.
It's about time CAST started to throw it's weight about with some transparent communication with all the major parties involved to get some clarity of the situation. They have been disappointedly quiet for the last two or three months.
Post of the month.
What the eff have the Trust done over the past 4 most turbulent years possibly in the clubs history - nothing significant that I can think of. And now the arse-licking of Murray.
Time for change methinks, either ditch it because its ineffective, or get new people onto the board.
So we don’t like Duchâtelet, we think we might not like the Aussies, we don’t like most of the players, we don’t really like each other, and now we don’t like the trust. Great.
I'm sure Millwall would welcome you back with open arms if you find it all too beastly.
Yes you’ve already said that. Quite funny. Millwall, beastly. So good you posted it twice.
I don't think anyone has a problem with the Trust contacting and speaking to Murray. The issue is that it appears he's not been challenged on anything he said.
It’s not just yours there’s been a very public undertone against his posts in the last week in my opinion
Never met the fella i dont agree with him daily on this thread but I may be wrong but I sense a change in reaction to his posts that I don’t agree with it’s not being precious it’s voicing an opinion that may make people think before posting or change their posts to show its more tongue in cheek than real
You say 'it's not just yours there's been a very public undertone against his posts...' but fail to recognise my post had nothing to do with this 'very public undertone', which I assume meant that that concerned JS' info regarding the sale. I can only guess that your second paragraph suggests that people should make it very obvious when making a light-hearted comment, and when making a disparaging one. If people have to resort to emoticons, or censoring their posts so that the potential for misunderstanding and people's sensibilities being offended is avoided, then I think we have certainly strayed into precious territory. More importantly, I'd imagine JS realised it was a joke. Borderline bullying? Come off it.
Yes, it would be good to remember we are all on the same side, here.
@Addickted, I was one of the first to see your late night comment that you'd had the text from your mate at the EFL that as far as they were concerned, it was all done and dusted. So I immediately emailed this to Trust colleagues, then went to sleep in anticipation of the takeover completing the next day. Instead I awoke to rumours of sordid goings on in Ibiza then later, reports that the deal was a long way from done. I've never felt so low about Charlton as the last couple of days. Did you challenge and hold your EFL mate to account? It's really not good enough...;-)
Anyway, I don't want to fall out with anyone on here. We are all just pawns in the power games, tbh.
I think some are forgetting who the enemy is . And it ain't Cast
Who has said it is? Certainly not me.
As a member, I feel I'm entitled to challenge them when I'm dissatisfied with their response to a request made to contact Murray. I'm glad they took that seriously and did, but do they really need to wait until people approach them or make direct requests for them contact him before actually doing so?
I want the Trust to be pro-active, I want them to challenge the hierarchy at the football club and demand transparency.
I want them to represent their members and a five minute phone call with 'Mr Murray', really isn't good enough.
Far too much reverence towards 'Richard' I'm afraid and what appears to be acceptance of everything he has to say.

Awww, you haven't read my latest post. Didn't realise I posted it twice, my apologies. I don't do other forums.
@Addickted, the reality is you are disappointed in the response from Murray. One of the major issues is that no-one at the club is prepared to be held to account/ take responsibility. We can ask all we like (and we do) but it doesn't guarantee answers, let alone ones people will like.

Or do you disagree?
I have to agree with you, but who can you challenge when we are dealing the equivalent of Ray Allen and Lord Charles.
Yes, it would be good to remember we are all on the same side, here.

And I certainly don't want to either - that is not the reasoning behind my questioning, I thought I made that clear. I just want and end to this madness and I'm afraid appeasement to 'Mr Murray' is no longer the correct way to deal with the situation.
I wont disagree with the pawn in the power game analogy though!
Anyway, I don't pay an annual membership to an ex school friend. He also doesn't represent me in discussions with the ownership of my football club.
He has sent me information in good faith, which I have posted verbatim on here when I get it. I have suggested that he has no reason to make it up. I have also made it clear he got the information from a colleague at the EFL. I have also said that @Airman Brown questioned my first post on the issue within a week of the first EFL information I got.
That information has been questioned on here by more than one person and I have no issues with that.
NOBODY has dug me out of it or made any suggestions that the information wasn't posted in good faith.
"He said that Lee Bowyer is talking to potential signings and that Bowyer feels he needs four new players to have the makings of a challenging squad"
Fuck me that's ambitious. We just about had a challenging squad last season and off the top of my head we've already lost 8 of that squad (Amos, Dasilva, Konsa, Kashi, Jackson, Mavididi, Kaikai, Zyro), so how on earth can anyone say we only need 4 new players?
Didn't he also tell Curbs, new players will not be interested in joining Charlton if he has only a year left on his own contract left.
Yet he seems to believe players will be interest in Charlton with a caretaker manager. Perhaps ones that can't get a contract any where else.
Far too much reverence towards 'Richard' I'm afraid and what appears to be acceptance of everything he has to say.

I'm very grateful for you sharing the info, @Addickted, and appreciate it is in good faith. The Trust are also acting in good faith. We're open to suggestion of what else we should be doing and we'll continue to be proactive as far as we possibly can. Think everyone is unsurprisingly very stressed and at the end of their Charlton tether right now.
Anyway, I'm off to catch the second half of Morocco v Iran for some light relief!

Good point! He disrespects fans whenever he opens his mouth. If the Aussies buy the club, they will be even more popular when they tell Lord Haw Haw Murray to Fcuk Off!

This takeover is driving us all nuts.
