Does anyone know if Cawley knows who's funding this signing?
Yes. The way it has been told to him is that ESI are driving getting the deals done. Which again suggests that takeover is close to completion.
Maybe the sale of the shares covers some of the outlay ?

Not a clue how that would work?

Would it not bring Roland's reign into disrepute, funding players from a 3rd party.
Maybe that's the plan to get rid of him?
Be quite easy to say, I’ll spend X and then recoup X by selling Y if necessary.

     Yes. But who's providing X?

As it's a loan signing it presumably can be done within our Roland budget, especially if we send Leko and Kayal back

No reason ESI can’t loan the money to RD, even if it is required up front. There might also be something in the share issue, although for those shares to have been sold to ESI without EFL approval would seem to be a breach of the rules.
  • Taken from the pot hole budget by all accounts.
They have had "a donation" from someone to fix the place up and repair stuff. (Basically Southall has paid for the road/carpark to be repaired, boilers and pipes fixed, groundsmans tools replaced, etc.

    WIOTOS...👍
  • Who said it is a loan

Nicked from the west stand car park?
  • Could it be Rhian Brewster from Liverpool? Arsenal are also recalling Eddie Nketiah from Leeds to loan him out elsewhere.

    Bowyer. Newsonline

Cawley reckons the latter is surely off to Bristol City

That's what I've seen too. Sam Surridge from Bournemouth is another being mentioned.
  • BobMunroe, Bet365 is only a complicated business because of tax avoidance issues.
  • This isn’t the transfers thread !!
  • Henry Lascelles or John McGinn would be my guess.

Both players fit the current Charlton profile.
  • Really puzzling me now. Word from Richard Crawley that incomings are being driven by ESI and that the deal whatever that means is close but not yet done. Matt Southall looks very comfortable in being very high profile re all things Charlton but no deal ratified by EFL. Quite why money spent is being sanctioned and by whom is very odd at this point. If this isn’t done and dusted by the end of next week I will be very nervous.

Loans so no money perhaps - maybe the new mob are calling the shots as such.
  • i'm only guessing but maybe the funding of signings without actually owning the club - yet - is one of the 'strange' ideas that bowyer was referring to??
  • Unlikely that EFL are working today I would think ?

No way new owners would fund transfers if there was any doubt over the EFL confirmation, it really must be happening, just waiting for EFL offices to open.

    agreed
  • Has to be announced either tomorrow or Friday surely?
  • They are just waiting to get all the ducks in a row surely. So that’s must be page 2222 Then. Sorry I get my coat.
  • If it isn’t announced this week then I’ll start worrying. If it is, then I can’t see how it could possibly be worse than the Roland years, or what I experienced of them, whoever buys the club.
