No not only in Charlton land. Absolutely nothing wrong with fans doing due diligence.
Fans doing due dilligence is nonsense. Unless due dilligence is based upon a few pics of the directors box and some google searches.
You carry on thinking that. For quite a lot of us it’s quite important that we know about the people that are taking ownership of the club. Football finances are mad and unforgiving and getting the wrong owner could easily spell complete disaster. Ask Bury fans what they think. But you carry on.
But it needs to be formally announced so you know who is involved, then play forensic accountants.
Not sure if you missed it but there was a formal announcement on the OS on 29th November stating exactly who is involved. Keep up.
I don't see our fans tailspinning into some kind of hissy fit because they ask questions, exercise caution and trawl for information. In my view it is not negativity or writing anybody off. If there are 'announcements' formal statements, live encounters and interviews, and then those are accompanied by a series of quite incomprehensible teases on instatwitter, then I really don't see any crime or misdemeanour enacted by fans if they investigate and discuss. I don't think Charlton fans collectively are a blank sheet of paper upon which anything can be written regardless.
Truth is the last two sales of CAFC have proved to be disastrous. I’m hopeful that this latest takeover is going to be fantastic but there are no guarantees that will be the case. Until I know otherwise I will proceed with caution.

Why are people still discussing where the funds are coming from then? Keep up

I posted this before, so apologies for repetition....
My German friend, who is something or other in the world of finance, has been to a couple of Charlton games with me, but ended up choosing to support Wimbledon instead, as he lives in SW London. But he still keeps an eye on Charlton, so when the takeover was announced in November he checked out the Charlton website and read all about the guys behind the takeover. When I saw him a week or so later He told me he was very envious as “they’re such good guys.”
He spends a lot of time in the UAE and Abu Dhabi, and although he doesn’t know them personally, he knows people who do, and he said they are by reputation good businessmen and honest brokers. I totally get why people are suspicious, but my friend set my mind at ease, and I’ll be perfectly happy to give these guys a chance.
I’m predicting 31st Dec for EFL confirmation, based on nothing at all.
FFS, I will be glad when the EFL have done the work and approved the sale. We can then close down this thread and enjoy watching our Charlton come back to us.
These are not a bunch of chancers, they have huge financial clout and they want to invest in making us a prem club again.
We will see that when the deal is approved, new deals and some great investment in the squad. Keep the faith...
A poster who doesn't post so much nowadays, @DamoNorthStand, mentioned very briefly soon after the news broke that "they" by which I believe he meant Nimer and whom he represents, are involved, very quietly, in F1, and as Damo said, you need serious wedge for that. I have tagged Damo, because with his professional background that he has previously mentioned, he would know his stuff on this, and I hope he might tell us more. For example, do you "invest" in F1 to make money? I have no idea, but I think it is usually a vanity/PR project, in which case buying a London footie club would be following a pattern. Another pattern is for Middle Eastern royal families to invest in big football clubs as PR for the nation concerned (Citeh, PSG). I can't really believe purchasing Charlton would be seen as falling into that bracket, but if we knew that Nimer is already involved in F1, I think that would be positive news for us.
On the other hand anyone criticising @Airman Brown without having actually read VOTV is sticking their head in the sand. @carly burn I can recall you sniffing in similar manner at the negative stuff which Airman and others discovered about the Sebastian Sainsbury bid in 2010, yet it turned out to be well founded, and Lee Amis was involved with that one. Whether you like it or not, VOTV contains pertinent verified facts about some people involved, albeit not Nimer because its not so easy to get info on such a person. And he seems to be the key to whether this may work out well for us or not.
I've got an open mind on this one, therefore, but every day longer the EFL feel unable to ratify it, the more wary I am of it.
However I have always been involved in Trade Finance, and spent a lot of time in the Middle East.
The ADBD brand is well known and respected. I have severe doubts they would be involved in anything that would harm their reputation. Nor do I find it likely they would play fast and loose with our club.
As individuals, Nimer and Heller also have positive reputations.
I sometimes wonder that unless we get some sort of communist/hippy/commune-style ownership some people just aren't gonna be happy.
I wonder what Derek Hatton and Arthur Scargill are up to these days? Maybe we could persuade them to join a consortium with Ken Livingstone and Len McCluskey?
Please don’t. say what you like about him but leave his wife & kid alone. thank you.
Christ it’s only a joke.
Wasn’t remotely funny & in bad taste imo. I think he reads this site & I don’t want our prospective new Chairman thinking his daughter is fair game for insensitive jokes/comments. We’re better than that.

@PragueAddick - City were not even playing in Europe prior to their oil money arriving, so it's not like these families only buy massive clubs.
Fair point, but we'd be kidding ourselves if we compared ourselves to City even so, as an acquisition which would make the Western world look more favourably on Abu Dhabi as a nation. But that's OK. If it is true that they are in F1, but under the radar, then that tells us that they invest in sport for their own purposes rather than as PR for the wider nation.

I'm just a bit worried about how much public money is going to be diverted into capital spending on our new stadium. I mean, obviously it will be great to be playing home games in the 100,000 capacity Abu Dhabi National Stadium ( "The Abu Valley"). But I hope we don't get embroiled in years' worth of FOI requests.

(EDIT) written before @JamesSeed post above.

thank you.
I dont really see the problem with mentioning that when he keeps posting pictures of her. As long as it doesnt overstep the mark.

the problem is people that have to much time on their hands like to be busy and pushing agendas
let the EFL decide if they are fit and proper let ESI show their worth
make your own mind up and don’t be swayed by anyone
how they act what they do is how to gauge your support or your unhappiness with them
Numpties.
